Stop posting in this thread, i dont care.
There’s always someone predicting the doom of GW2.
I’ll try it in ten days, but from what I’ve seen aside from the infamous character design (same as from Magna Carta I recall) the battle system is solid – some sort of a hybrid combat versus game and a a-rpg style ?
Probably won’t go for Kungkittenmaster due to the ping reliance but a BM or an Sin might be enough of a challenge for me.
Have you even tried the game, be it the russian patched version, the betas or the actual korean version ?
Besides, I heard it’s ranked quite high back in its homeland (whereas BDO doesn’t do so well). So i’m guessing it’s just plain ignorance talking.
I dont believe anyone thinks it’s going to “ruin gw2.” However, I am one of the people who will be moving to it. My reasons being.
-Competitive 1v1 (don’t have to rely on 4 other people)
-Frequent balance
-An established esports presence in other counties.
-Active combat. (ie passives aren’t running wild like gw2)
-Condis (dots) are not a massive source of damage
and my #1 reason..
-No more Arena Net!
They will come back, like they came back from Wildstar that was supposed to destroy gw2 too. Oh and ESO and the another sub korean game full of botters that i dont even remember how it was called..what else was there?
Fact is, gw2 sux atm but theres nothing better on market and they know it..
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.

These were games that were not yet released. B&S is already established. Im sure some people will come back, but I really think you highly overvalue GW2. There is a reason that most gamers consider GW2 a giant pvp joke.

Most of the people here will realize that they’re not that good in 1vs1 to start with
As isaid in other thread, BnS is not GW2 killer. Anet killed GW2 themself. People are not leaving because of new shiney but because gw2 simply sucks atm and there is no hope due to Anet history.

Its a mmorporno. Its not even on scale with runescape! How can something like that compare to Gw2?
Because it atleast has an esport scene in Korea, Japan and China.
Not just 300 viewers on twitch falling asleep, but over tens of thousands live supporters in e-sports arenas in Korea watching top players battling it out in live tournaments for much higher prize-pool than this game will ever give in the total life-span of its scene.

Been looking for a diff game for a while but cant find anything personally. I cant stand B&S graphic and just for that reason i wont touch it. Comp 1v1 sounds fun tho unlike this lazy “5v5 balance” that promotes nothing else but class stacking leaving everything else completely useless. Nice balance there Anet.
Atm waiting for “For Honor” and Dark Souls 3. Meanwhile started playing Smite, feels close to gw2 except no dodges and much less cheese.

Nah, it was something else.

No one says that BnS gonna ruin Gw2. I want to see the link that says that. But ppl are going to play BnS to get there pvp fix. I know i am.
Remember: Only Anet can ruin Gw2. & doing a kitten good job at it. Other games is just there until the next best game.

Yabbut NCSoft.

BnS is bassicaly Terra will be bad in everything except commbat lol

I don’t have an issue with NCSoft. I have an issue with Mike O’brien and his studio.
On it’s own No. But it will draw some Pvp player’s away.
Then we have BDO which will draw some Pve player’s away
And farther down the line we have CU which will pull wvw player’s away.
It won’t kill this game but they will decrease the total player count.
Personally i hope a good chunk of people leave this game for the simple reason it might finally “Light a fire under Arena net’s kitten ”. I firmly believe they can fix all there kitten up’s but I Highly doubt they are going to receive enough funding to make it happen.
if anything GW2 only need to fear from Black desert that game looks crazy atm and its more in style with GW2…..

It won’t, but then again I would imagine most people in this forum are interested in 5-6 man team tactical PvP done right. After being burned from one MMORPG company refusing to treat sPvP like a first class citizen I have no interest in playing another MMORPG just to get to the PvP aspect of the game.
So where should we go next? Blizzard’s Overwatch has my attention. Other games will be coming in 2016. IMO if you jump into BnS and think the sPvP side of that game is going to get a lot of budget to be great think again. We get down to the inherent differences between stand alone sPvP games and sPvP games that live inside/imprisoned inside an MMO client.
If you can’t rationalize why sPvP baked into an MMORPG will always get much less polish than stand alone sPvP games then a class on economics or business management may be worth your time.
yeah waiting for overwatch also praying for a beta key….
-Total War: Warhammer
-Guild Wars 2
There’s always a new mmo on the horizon trying to take on GW2. The only thing that is guaranteed to end GW2 is Gw3.

Problem is we can only get mmo style combat in an mmo. It would be interesting if there was an mmo style pvp game on its own with no pve side.
I’m waiting for more FPS games like Overwatch, Battleborn and the new Unreal Tournament. Also in terms of large scale pvp I’m waiting for Camelot Unchained and Crowfall.

ESO was supposed to kill GW2, Archeage was supposed to kill GW2, Wildstar (NCSoft?) was supposed to kill it too. Only one game is hanging in there, and that’s only because of the shift from sub to play to b2p.
Now Blade and Soul and Black Desert Online are going to kill GW2.
As isaid in other thread, BnS is not GW2 killer. Anet killed GW2 themself. People are not leaving because of new shiney but because gw2 simply sucks atm and there is no hope due to Anet history.
This.
That and I think of BnS as a hybrid fighting game. It, to me, is more enjoyable currently than GW2.
The 1v1 esport scene is massive compared to GW2 esports.
There development team is doing some things right, and Anet should probably start paying attention to what they’re doing.
No. BnS will not kill GW2, but if Anet keeps on the track they are going the pvp community may as well nail the coffin shut themselves.
I’ve been taking a break in Star Trek Online (STO) by NCSoft. The buzz there is that pvp has the same basic issues; No real balance, you need a tight team to win and PUGs get insta hammered and leave.
Oh and there was that other game City of Heroes ( CoH) which was a lot of fun but died for some of the same reasons.
NC Soft and ANET think that if they force people to play on teams to be competitive it will ignite esports. They are mistaken.

STO is not a NCNA game. It was a Cryptic Studio’s game and it’s publisher was Atari I believe. Cryptic was a really really bad studio to begin with. It was bought out by ARC games a few years ago.
And CoH started as a NCNA+ Cryptic Game but then changed into Paragon studio’s. It died from i13 where there was a mass exodus of top pvp teams and pvp’ers all at once. Because the devs tried to make pvp in that game something slower than it was meant to be, and failed miserably.
( that time of CoH makes me really really sad)
No one said anything about killing gw2. But until Anet starts showing they care about balance and thieves. I’ll be on my assassin in B&S.
My point was that both those games had problems similar to ANET PVP. In STO it’s pretty dead for PvP.
CoH is dead, period.
The focus on teams and trying to force players to play in teams is a huge mistake. I and many other players want to solo.
Also, new people come in ( not on a team ) and are immediately hammered. Then they leave and many don’t come back. That means a shrinking player base and the balance problems associated with that.
A shrinking player base increases balance problems and in turn reduces the player base still further. A death spiral.
As isaid in other thread, BnS is not GW2 killer. Anet killed GW2 themself. People are not leaving because of new shiney but because gw2 simply sucks atm and there is no hope due to Anet history.
This couldn’t be more true. If Anet got its act together, I honestly doubt any game could wipe them out and they’d finally become an e-sport, but oh well.
I very much enjoy the small scene PvP community that Gw2 has. I think its what BnS will have that without the hassle of having to deal with a company like Anet who doesn’t take care of their game.
So I will be playing it when it comes out in NA and hopefully it will be the replacement for Gw2 I am hoping for and I can leave this god forsaken, horribly neglected, game that I have wasted so much time and effort on.
(edited by Interpretor.3091)
I’ve played it quite a lot in EU server. Fun combat in BnS but everything else is same old Korean copypasta. NA beta is much improved though cuz localization is awesome and reduces bull**** that Americans hate like overly excessive grind and RNG but the game overall didn’t really offer anything amazing and is just another reskinned KR MMO. It’s gonna suck having to go through the same boring quests, pointless story and dull leveling process again when it comes out but the combat is decent enough entertainment. It’s sure not going to be killing any games though or evolving the awful MMO genre.
Its a mmorporno. Its not even on scale with runescape! How can something like that compare to Gw2?
Soooo the game is terrible mechanically because there are tiddies in it?
You should send a resume into Kotaku/Polygon. Your reasoning skills would fit right in.
I don’t think anyone actually thinks any game needs to kill GW2. As someone said before Anet has done a good job of that all alone. Facts are that BnS has a developed Esports scene and Team Bloodlust does a good job balancing it. When they see something is out of control they fix it. The events are packed out and the matches are easy to watch when you know the game. Can’t see GW2 ever reaching that point unless Anet makes some major changes to it.
Remember when people said WildStar will destroy Guild Wars 2?
Now it’s begging for new players by going F2P.
Remember when people said The Elder Scrolls Online will destroy Guild Wars2?
It has the worst launch score, bugs and the gameplay is so bad that the dev had to drop P2P.
Remember when people said BnS will destroy Guild Wars 2?
You mean the game that focused too much on female character to beg for dudes to play so that they get hard on their female characters?
Anet makes some major changes to themselves.
Fixed that for ya.
Remember when people said WildStar will destroy Guild Wars 2?
Now it’s begging for new players by going F2P.
Ya, GW2 would NEVER do that.
Oh, wait…

You have 0 understanding of game design if you think they couldn’t make it a good game because the art team was too focused on T&A.
I don’t think we need to worry about other games ruining GW2.
The Anet game designers are doing that just fine on their own.

hehehe you made my day

No, what killed PvP there was the amount of pay to win, real pay to win. Zen bought ships, new ones were always more powerful, always better stats, better bridge officer stations.
Then they would bring out a fleet ship locked behind months of grinding with 10% better hull and shield modifiers/hit points and more flexible layouts. Then they would bring out lockbox ships (kinda like BL chests but permanent contract odds) with maybe same stats as the fleet ship but a little more turn and 2 universal bridge officer slots. It goes on and on.
That’s without mentioning the “unique” consoles being thrown around in lock boxes and zen ships which they then started making 2-4 piece sets giving insane bonuses. The balance in that game makes GW2 look like Starcraft level of balance.
GW2 is more popular than ever. If any game is going to kill one of the giants it’s not gonna be a niche asian grinder.
The most fitting description about BnS I have heard:
The game that never came… or way too late.
It would have had a much bigger impact in the west if it had been released in 2013 (cn) or 2014 (jp) like other foreign versions. The game already feels outdated now.
Also never a good sign if most people already tried or actively played a game on a fully translated private server for years before the offical version is even talked about.
Might still try it out while I wait for stuff like Black Desert, Icarus or Bless. Games which will probably suffer the same fate.
(edited by Henry.5713)
LOL your statement hardly make any point when Wildstar relaunches itself without any significant changes to gameplay and contents while GW2 went F2P and Anet simply sell HoT expansion and attracts F2P players that like the core game to buy it.
You have 0 understanding of game design if you think they couldn’t make it a good game because the art team was too focused on T&A.
Oooh so BnS has good design? Tell me a fresh design of the gameplay that BnS has over Guild Wars 2 which make it a good game, since you seems to call yourself a person that understand game design.
" insert shiny new mmo here is going to ruin GW2! "
SSDD
Next….
One mmo doesn’t not kill of another normaly, that said I laugh when people say things like we’ll the questing is boring. The last game I played that had good questing was wow when they started doing phasing so the world changed as you did things outside of that most questing is throw away content even the questing in gw2.
At this point I think you need to go with is it mechanically fun to play, is it the style you enjoy, is the dungeons/raids/world bosses done well, is the pvp done well.
This year looks good for mmos right now you have BDO with a sandbox with lots of diffrent mechanics for crafting (you can breed horses) has good combat and will give people a solid living world feel.
BnS themepark, fast-paced combat, good dungeons and good pvp.
CU in depth crafting huge three faction RvR game and a really open dev team.
If anything we should be happy with what’s on the horizon, with games being f2p or b2p we can play more then one game at a time and enjoy them nothing has to kill one of to also be good. I play gw2 and tera right now and I will most likely give BnS a shot too and CU for sure.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
I’m actually really curious about the 1v1 PvP.
I could see hating it or loving it with little in between. Like I could see it being boring even if I were good at it, as you are solo. Then again, you are solo, so I wouldn’t have to deal with the cancer that is pvp team mates.
As isaid in other thread, BnS is not GW2 killer. Anet killed GW2 themself. People are not leaving because of new shiney but because gw2 simply sucks atm and there is no hope due to Anet history.
This. I doubt we’ll see a game with such a beautiful combat mechanic as gw2, but BnS looks to be fun.
Games kill themselves, at the moment the way things are going in GW2, it’s bleeding players slowly and it’s pretty much all GW2’s fault. This game has such potential for a great PvP game, and unlimited potential in WvW. But somehow the developers are just not handling it right, or prioritizing things right.
A new game may not “ruin” GW2, but it will draw players away. If you look at how small the PvP playerbase is in GW2, drawing any % away would make a fairly big hit to this game.
Bleeding any segment of the playerbase at the moment, be it PvE, PvP, or WvW, would hurt GW2 greatly. And honestly, at the moment, some competition may just be what GW2 needs to light a fire under their dev team.
My friends and I will be going to Black Desert once it’s released.
I don’t think any MMO will kill off GW2 on its own, but with so many good one coming out in the next year I am sure there will be many people that leave, I myself am eagerly awaiting CU and if its even half as good as I hope it will likely replace GW2 for me. That being said with no sub fee I will likely drop in to GW2 frequently and check things out.
