Stop with PvP ascended items, please!
So, you want fewer players participating in PvP? Or, do you only want the good players in PvP? Bad players need to stay away?
How do bad players get good?
try and craft ascended gear in pvp… its actually harder than it looks. you will need 500 crafting which is around 200g from 0-500 and 1 piece of pvp ascended gear will cost you 120g just getting the marks. pvers actually stopped playing pvp because fractal or raid will give you ascended much faster.

To what extent are people on this forum blaming, wrongly, pve players for their losses? I ask this question because anet nerfed the pve rewards for this season and the general consensus is that there are decidedly less people playing this season. If people are still claiming that pve players are ruining their matches under these circumstances, then perhaps the claim that pve players ruined season 5 in low tiers was actually a misperception on the part of the player where they attribute mistakes made by teammates to lack of experience instead of temporary misjudgment or lack of skill with a profession or versus certain enemy teams, whilst vastly underestimating the number of mistakes they themselves make in a match (and are probably being juged by, silently, by their teammates).
I agree with OP not only pve players but wvw like me i could not care less about scoring since this laughble system penalizes me for playing a class that cannot carry a team. So i just take the rewards and try to not care about the scoring too much.
Higher player pool=better matchmaking. There are less rewards this season than last. Less people are playing. Matchmaking is worse. You’re arguing for the wrong thing.
For the most part, almost nobody is pvping right now for ascended rewards. Just about everyone going for the backpiece got it several months ago, and the new ascended armor pathway is expensive and annoying….again almost nobody is doing that, and if they really wanted the small discount they can get the same one by doing fractals.
Let’s for a moment assume that you are not just getting emotional over one unlucky match, and that you’re correct that there is an influx of pve players playing pvp just for the rewards. If that is true (it isn’t, but I’m playing along) then there are 5 chances for that person to be on the enemy team and only 4 for them to be on yours. That means if you play a decent sample of games, having those inexperienced players will BENEFIT your win/loss ratio.
Bad is bad everywhere. So can’t stop bads.
Got used to them after breaking five keyboards.
I had this opinion last season…. Looking at population issues this season after the changes made to ascended I’m more inclined to say to revert the change and attract more PvE people….
Or better yet, release that new Legendary they promised yearly for Year Of Ascension. Even if it’s different colours, say like Black + Red….
….. And Elementalist.
Sorry, but the “hardcore” PvP population is too small to support the game on it’s own.
We need the PvE people in the mix.
ANET has created a culture of “farming” and that’s what we’re seeing here. Perhaps there’s some way to make rewards performance based without demanding a win.
To get reward you need x number of points? That could be kills, revives, decaps etc. That way you’d have to be contributing to some extent.
+1
No more pve people plz. Better 10 players, than 100 farming players
The problem isn’t the PVE players. More people in pvp is a good thing. Proper matchmaking would assign people to teams and match ups ranked on their skill. You shouldn’t be facing most of these beginners in higher tiers.
Are “PVE players” really that much of a problem for you guys? If they are bad they get to Bronze. If you constantly face them you should be bad aswell…
Thanks to lower population the chance to get matches with terrible players is even higher now.
PVE players can get ascended gear MUCH MUCH MUCH easier in PVE game modes than in PVP. Any PVE player who is grinding PVP for gear in Season 6 must be a terrible PVE’er. (was a different story in Season 5 when it was super easy to get ascended gear)
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
As a pve primary player, I’m going to concur with many of the statements here that we weren’t pvping for the ascended items this time around. Its not worth the time, pain, or cost with the changes. If we’re playing we’re either doing it because we enjoy pvp to some extent, or because they are giving back some of the bile being dumped on them.
PvP community is small, we need more players, let’s not live in illusion that we don’t. I think adding carrots to pvp is good idea HOWEVER those carrots were added in wrong way to the mode in the past. They should be tied to wins and not just afking in matches – this way players that do decide to join pvp for rewards would be forced to actually try to win.
Also, if MM wasn’t flawed, the so called “pve’ers” wouldn’t be an issue.
Also as side note, not every pve’ers is necessary a bad player “dragging team down”. I am raiding every week, i do fractals, technically i would be pve’er. I placed in low gold this season and i soloed to plat so far. I really doubt that i was “dragging team down”, in gold at least lol.

No rewars no people. No people, yo will need 5minutes to play a single arena.
Pvpers needs pvers to keep playing.
As the Originator of this post from last season…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Please-stop-the-new-Pve-player-hate/first
And other posts where I argued vehemently against removing ascended rewards and instead figuring out a system to help new Players, where i predicted that we needed the new blood that we would end up with JUST a small pool of hardcore vets and would lose even casual PvPers…
I can go back to almost every post I made last season about the disastrous consequences of the changes the small amount of people on these boards were constantly demanding., which were:
No Ascended rewards
Get rid of Pve’ers
Get rid of Esports…
For the record, I have stated constant other solutions to the above changes and constantly tried to be constructive, I do love PvP and did not want to see it in this state.
Instead of the community embracing a good change and figuring out ways to deal with the issues the larger player pool caused (larger player pool is always good, it breeds hype excitement people are attracted by this ect).
Instead we could of:
Lowered the amount of ascended you recieved per season without requiring crafting.
Helped new players
Continued our tournaments-or given incentive, with high level players so they would keep streaming and attract people to the game
I hope someones considering all this I am waiting hopefully for next season for now I will either hop about in unranked or play other games. I still have faith and hope against hope this will all be resolved and this was just a minor blipp in later seasons.
Please stop with ascended items in PvP. This has brought countless PvE players to PvP and they do not care about ranking, they just want the coins for the items. This makes us Guild Wars 2 PvP players unable to get where we want because of lack of playskill of the players, and can not win the game with 1 player less in the team. Please change that, it has not helped at all in PvP and also fix the level of the players that fall in the team. It’s completely unregulated.
I hope you understand and respond to the request / suggestion. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s complaining here, and if there’s anyone complaining it’s because it’s really not good.
Thanks for listening.
No please keep the items in here, I need them for WvW, thanks. Also, I’ve ~6,000 PvP games between two accounts so generalizing is not such a good idea. If anything they need to revert them back to season 5 so that they aren’t kitten to get like they are now.
PvE players have a choice to come and play in PvP for rewards or do it the PvE way don’t take away from PvP’ers just because some PvE’ers are choosing to PvP. Plus, you can’t grow the PvP community without adding new players who get interested in the game mode.

If they are just tied to wins then bad players will see little benefit to even trying PvP. I think participation is a much better method.
I have simpler solution – don’t give rewards for losing.
Kawaleria (KW)
The rewards for losing are the one and only reason to tolerate being stomped.
The present matchmaking is making very one sided matches. There’s not a lot of motivation to play against a stacked deck without rewards.

Yea but we wanna to motivate people to learn the game, CARE to win (so they don’t sabotage tryharding guys), get/ask somebody what builds are viable or how to rotate.
The main point of hating pve guys is accusation that they grind the pvp system rather then play. Let’s kill rewards on losing, hardcore pvpers already don’t care about them.
Edit: And no…matchmaker doesn’t make one sided matches…players do…lack of them.

I enjoy PvP, But I’d sooner play unranked than ranked, the only reason I play ranked is for the rewards. I could not care less about my rank, (for the record T2 Gold). I hate how they changed the rewards to make them less rewarding.

When you’re 1850 rating and getting put into teams with a 1470 mmr duo queue. Yes they are an issue.

That’s a population issue – there are so few players around that putting you in with a pair of 1470s was the least bad match the MM could make at the time.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
As a wvw player:
- I’m playing this season for the dyes because I’m making The Bifrost
- I wish anet would try to lure new players to my preferred game mode
- Rank 20 to participate is a larger barrier than you think
Seriously though, if a fraction of those participating for other reasons decide they like spvp, it’s good for the long term health of the game mode.
Where do you imagine the PvP players came from originally? From PvE they came, that’s where. Nobody starts playing an MMO for the PvP, as MMO’s have comparatively crappy PvP when you compare them with FPS games, sports games or whatever LoL is.

Dedicated MMORPG PvPer since vanilla Runescape. Then PvPer in DCUO for 2 years, PvPer in Eve Online for 8 years, PvPer in Neverwinter for a bit. Then PvPer in GW2 for 2 years till it became so unbearable to the point I search other where during Season 3. Found the MOBA genre and ESO. Have not really PvP or WvW sense, maybe in small burst because of friends still playing the game. Now crap PvP and crap WvW I don’t really play much of GW2 these days other then to look at my characters on my account really.
So yes we do exist MMORPG PvPers. But with the proliferation of MOBAs and FPSs, yes the new age PvPers would more then likely bypass MMORPGs altogether. At one point in the pass MMORPGs was actually a really good genre for PvP. Then MMORPG devs just gave up it seemed. So yeah. Lol
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys

The only reason I ever came to GW2 was for “Guild Wars”… It didn’t exist…. Until GvG!!!! Then just like the rest of WvW after the first 2 years, died off.
So basically WvW was the reason I got into GW2, WvW died and now I live in PvP.
….. And Elementalist.
@Reaper Alim and @sephiroth Of course, exceptions do exist such as you guys.
Actually now that I think about it, “guild wars” was the reason I joined GW2 as well as I loved GvG and AB in the first game. But in the end I barely touched PvP for 3 years. Which was maybe due to actually quitting the game 6 months after launch as my old computer crashed anytime I played more than 30 minutes due to overheating.
Now, there’s no sign of either game mode present atm. The WvW version of GvG is crap at best in comparison to how glorious it was in the first game. It’s funny how after almost 5 years, there is no guild wars in Guild Wars 2.

The Guild Wars were over a couple of years before The Searing. In fact the Guild Wars led to the Charr invasion and the destruction of Orr and Ascalon. So, if you joined to fight in that conflict you are roughly 305 years late.
The game is about dealing with the aftermath of the Bloodstones and the wars that were fought to control them. ( not unlike the Silmarils in Tolkien’s universe )
The personal story begins in 1325 A.E, Whereas the the Second Guild War was over by 1020 A.E.

Thanks for twisting my words. After all, I knew all that. That’s not even where the name comes from btw.
GvG was the pinnacle of the original game and it’s very sad it never made it to the sequel.
