I enjoy stronghold in unranked, for some reason people don’t know how to play it in ranked, or I’m always on the team with people who do not know how to play stronghold lol.

I greatly prefer it to Conquest. The PVP fights are more engaging when tactical mobility isn’t handicapped by forcing you to stand inside a circle when fighting, and AoE is still just as potent because of it’s ability to wipe out groups of doorbreakers. You also get to make use of the terrain more in your fights since again you aren’t limited to standing in a circle.

It also feels like it offers a bigger chance for more big plays. In Conquest you pretty much take two points and start rotating to hold them, and the biggest play you can make is capping far or going for the map side objective. But in Stronghold you can suicide bomb some doorbreakers to halt the enemy’s progress which is IMMENSELY satisfying and can change the flow of the entire match if you can pull it off. Or you can double cap the champions for a really big push against the enemy’s team. Big fights in the lord room are also a lot of fun, both on offense and defense.

Every fight I win and every battle I choose feels more rewarding in Stronghold. More importantly it feels like a BATTLE with a clear cut objective at the end of a short campaign rather than running around capping points until the time runs out.

Sadly no, the new Stronghold of the Faithful is e last wing of the current Raid season in pve. =/

I’m stuck in a Catch 22 of sorts. I love Stronghold, and I would play it more often… if more people played it. I don’t want to sit in 10m queues just to get a match against a full premade from a higher division entirely that wrecks house.

Sadly no, the new Stronghold of the Faithful is e last wing of the current Raid season in pve. =/

then why did they call it stronghold? did they not use the google? stronghold synonyms?

thats why i’m trying to find all the people that like Stronghold. Easier time getting queues.

I love Stronghold more but hate when the enemy team is rife with healbot Eles heal skitten their way into my base.

Stronghold is a great idea with a serious flaw. Players should ne be able to kill guards. Because of this and this alone, virtually all stronghold matches just become about which team can successfully bomb rush all the way to the lorn in the first couple minutes of the game.

Stronghold was a lot of fun before people figured out rushing was the optimal strategy and the relative uselessness of archers.

If we had to use archers to kill the guards (similar to needing creeps to kill towers in the early game of traditional MOBAs) the game would be a lot more fun.

As it is now, you could almost just take out all the the doors and the game would play almost exactly the same.

Not the best strategy. I got to mid-Diamond by countering that strategy.

Who all would be interested in a stronghold guild?

I would be if you are thinking of making one. I actually started one, “Champions of the Dusk,” the name alone suggests it was going to be aStronghold guild but never got round to advertising. Then my friends from the guild we started together when we first started playing started playing again(I’d been the only active member of the guild for a while) pretty much abandoned the idea of running CotD after that.

The AI of archers would need to be changed if they were the only way to kill guards. I sometimes use archers. If there are still guards alive, I have supplies but I’m not going that way for whatever reason I might spawn archers, door breakers are like moths to a flame if guards are still alive. If the player couldn’t hurt guards and it needed to be archers though the archers would need to be more focussed on guards. Kind of like guards are to door breakers, you can be fighting a guard, a door breaker gets near, the guard goes for the door breaker. Archers would need to be the same to guards, maybe engage in combat but not able to follow for any great distance. I’ve seen them go up to the trebuchet or into the supplies depot. Not what the person who spawned them would have wanted.

I like Stronghold way more than conquest anyways, the AoE is ridiculous, well everywhere except graveyard on foefire, all points should be around that size or AoE rings shouldn’t match the size of the capture point. Alternatively just delete dragonhunter traps from the game, that would be a fantastic start.

Edit: forgot to mention the best part about stronghold being that imbalanced games where one side is at a serious deficit end quickly… whereas with conquest it is wasting everyone’s time until points tick to 500.
