These are some of the things I think should be done for it:

a) Buff the archers and all of the gate guards, because as of current they’re not strong enough to justify making over more doorbreakers. It’s more efficient to manually kill the guards. To change this, buffing the gate guards so that it’s NOT inefficient to spawn archers would be a good thing, because it’s too easy to plow through all the guards tbh.

b) Buffs the lords/give them slightly higher armor. Right now it seems like there’s a pretty huge imbalance between all of the classes and it’s unfortunately too easy and quick to take down the lords. They don’t deal enough damage and they don’t tank it well enough imo.

c) Maybe implement a way for players to reinforce doors/repair them? To add more depth to the minigame. Kinda like how it can be done in WvW. You would use supply from the middle to repair doors.

d) Possibly enable us to get guards back somehow? We can summon archers and doorbreakers, it seems realistic to allow us to summon more gate guards again after they’re destroyed.

e) Maybe add another type of ally to spawn with supply, but I can’t think of much right now.

I think that’s all I have atm. Stronghold seems to have quite a lot of problems but I find it a lot more fun than the standard conquest PvP.

The game would never end if you could repair the gates and such, although it is interesting. I would suggest using supply to partially repair gates (1 supply 25%, max allowed 50%) / close them … then add a VoD sudden death timer at the end like 20 minutes or so. Gates open automatically, all npcs remaining come out to fight at the supply depot.

Willing to pay for boxed expansion if you put legit GvG in the box $$

a) Agreed, archers should just ignore players and gates, and target the guards.

I disagree with b, c, d because the game is already long enough without any need for more defense. The game last for 15 minutes. By having supplies to reinforce the defense lane, almost all games will end with the team with the higher score winning.

But the only reason for a game to take long is if the people on the team are completely inexperienced. Don’t you predict that over time as people figure out what to actually do, all teams will be finishing quickly? There’s already been teams finishing in like ~2 minutes.

These teams are players, that knows what they are doing, playing against completely clueless players that doesn’t know how to defend.

Nope.

Evenly matched teams of varying skill levels would time out with added mechanics you suggested. And I don’t think this mode is like other games where people don’t mind sitting 30 minutes to finally win.

Hmmm I dunno. I haven’t had a single game last longer than ~9 minutes at most and I played it for several hours, guess our experiences differ a lot. I felt like my games were probably longer than most.

Either way they were only suggestions based off of my experiences with it.

Aye the NPCs really need a buff. The elite guards are made of paper and deal virtually no damage. A single player can take out the entire base in a short amount of time. Archers and guards not prioritizing NPCs is of great benefit to the enemy.

Would be cool if we could build some anti personnel turrets with supply. Guards are just there to harass abandoned skritt. I’d prefer turrets.

The game mode was amazing. Having a real sense of progression and running around dealing with various objectives > being confined to certain spots to maximize points per tick.

Yeah I was typically running to solo all the gate guards after spawning a few doorbreakers, helped wonders. It was pretty sad how easy it was to do. They should imo be similar to solo to what you would normally expect when flipping a camp in WvW. Normally, you LOS them and have to actually dodge around a few times to avoid death because they cc you, apply blinds/weakness, cripple, etc…

They don’t need to be excruciatingly difficult to kill alone, but they need to be dangerous enough so that it isn’t so trivial and quick to do.

Also I agree with you about the sense of progression Gummi, that’s exactly how I felt about it. It’s literally the first time I’ve felt excited to play PvP on this game.
