Stronghold - Why NPCs? Why not players?
Speculation, but the NPCs are intended to allow players to do more things around the map besides attacking a door and to stop it from becoming a PvE race.
It’s like a mini wvw where they have thrown in a pile of pve. wvw flatly rejected pve being added to it, so i guess this was their next bright idea.
Wouldn’t something like 7V7 or 8V8 or even 10V10 etc. work better?
No, it wouldn’t, the teamfights would be incomprehensible clusterkitten of particle effects.

Old spvp wasn’t.
Old spvp wasn’t.
Oh yes, it was. Even now, when 5-man team decides to zerg together it becomes stupid. With 8 people it was even worse.
What is the advantage of 8 or 10 over 5? The entire game is build around 5 man teams.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
The advantage is that with larger numbers comes better tactics, more options, more build diversity and less stale sameness.
What options, tactics and diversity for example?

Except that it could also end up being the complete opposite.
With larger numbers you could get a set-up that would be basically impossible to kill, and as such nothing would really happen and the match would just go on forever.
