Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Doesn’t cost you anything to move on and check for updates every now and then.
On the topic of skill in this game:
There are 3 things you must master in order to qualify as good:
-Reading skill cues. Some look the same, some are hard to see
-Dodging
-Map awareness
That’s really all there is.
3 is really simple, it generally comes down to arithmetic and moving your camera around a lot so that some guy doesn’t sneak past you because we don’t have a radar.
If you ask me, the real problem with warriors is that it’s the only class with easy to read skill cues. On top of that, all their approaches are linear. If every class was as easy to read as the warrior then I think the game would be better off, but as it is now I wish there was a skill activation bar.
I fight people, sometimes they kill me, sometimes I kill them. Fun is had by all. [/quote]

I said the same thing about TF2 a while back. But after getting tired of it I uninstalled figuring I could just install it again at a later date. But by that time other games had taken my interest and I havn’t played TF2 since.
I play tPvP (as a Warrior).
I also spend far to much time making builds in the hope they will be viable (95% of them aren’t).
The latest patch was a disappointment for me in terms of tPvP strategy depth and class skill depth.
As in: I personally don’t feel that this game is not mature enough to be considered strategically significant past timing of taking nodes and locking enemies in bad positions.
A good example from SOTG was during the Spirit Watch discussion – how winning your first real battle for the Orb can easily snowball the rest of the game. That’s the only ‘skill’ I see in this game, forcing your enemy into a role that gives you a incredible lead.
I think the only class’s that have a high skill potential are Engys/Necros/Ele’s, mainly because all of these classes have diverse skill mechanics.
But I play a Warrior, and it feels like torture. Even with the mentioned banner buff – that won’t be enough to make banners useful. Many weaponsets are blatantly not viable, especially where Mobility is king.
Also: Warrior traits for sPvP don’t line up.
Example:
1) Confusion on interrupt - well they can’t attack you anyway during a stun so putting Confusion on them makes no difference, where’s the logic behind this?2) Gain 5 stacks of Might and proc Berserkers Rage (SP?) - granting adren regen. Why is this a 30 point talent? It’s a 10 pt talent at best.
I feel pigionholed, and often times helpless to conditions or the better classes who have more mobility, control, sustained damage, healing or bunker abilities.
Personally, I’ve been playing this game since launch. My warrior is 80, I’ve met many interesting people, most of which I’d call my (e)friends. But at this point, my will to play has been lost. Without any real, definitive, tangible changes in the future I find it difficult to reason with myself to keep playing.
I’m not going to mention how the inherent class mechanics and ‘templates’ that classes have been built on turn away new players. I’m not going to mention the lack of in-game incentives to keep playing.
All I’m trying to say is. What reason is there for someone like me (a PvPer) to not uninstall and move on? Because at this rate, it’s looking like I’ll do it tomorrow night after I move (I’m moving tomorrow yay packing).
Thoughts? Expressions? Emotions? Negative feedback? Let me know what you think I (or someone in my position) should do.
Thank you.
There is no reason. Take a break and come back in a few months maybe things will magically be fixed but I doubt it. These games rarely dig themselves out of early holes.
I do not believe there’s a reason to stay to be perfectly honest.
There are a few fundamental issues starting with the game mode itself, how a single dodge roll can decide whether you live with 80% health left or die and the snowball effect resulting from that very outcome, how basic features are missing and even if they will come, they will turn out to feel very amateur-like (like manually tracking QPs on forums, ladders that might show where you stand, but for all you know that could be based on anything, because there’s no visible rating).
Bad decisions like putting the 3-round tournaments back in, when it was obvious that people prefer the 1-round matches. The fact that they removed 3-team tournaments, because they were hardly popping in the first place, just to put them back in, then actually be surprised that they aren’t popping (again!)?
There’s a lot more that basically screams this game isn’t going to go anywhere.
Turning it around would just take too many changes and the willingness to do so first of all.
I know how you feel defektive, it can get pretty depressing at some points. I’m actually thinking of taking a break from my warrior if March patchnotes are as depressing as the ones before. Even though my team likes when I play warrior and I think I do good on it, I still feel pretty useless against some teams/specs and most of the time playing one effectively is pretty exhausting mentally.
For me, It helps me relax if I swap on some other profession (for example trap ranger&shatter mesmer wth easymode?) from time to time and think of warrior as “hard mode”. I still enjoy warrior gameplay the most though.
I’d say take a break if you’re tired or just take a more relaxed approach, forget about “e-sports”, play for fun and just wait it out. We’ll hopefully get there eventually.
I pretty much shelved my warrior in PvP. Once in awhile I’ll jump on and play. For the most part it’s just incredibly frustrating. I tried every build comb and it’s always the same end results. Just swap for another profession, and hope anet fixes it.
Heavens Rage
Two points:
1) This game isn’t really designed to have a “main” in tpvp. You can pick up other classes and get good at them too, although it takes a while. in other words, play a different class if you feel warrior sucks, don’t get too attached to one class. Also, many people will ask you to bring a certain class to tpvp so its beneficial to have a few that you are good at.
2) Move on? Where too? Is there another game with pretty well balanced action-combat instanced pvp?

Defektive, I have made this build not a long time ago, you can check it out.
the build
another link if previous wont work
It works pretty well as point defender or assaulter, can do 1v1s well except against eles. Eles kitten In the end it’s just a refreshing fun spec to play. You got a lot of conditions and surprisingly even some burst with them if you manage to lock a target. You have burning from runes (quite a lot), poison from sigils, a lot of bleeding from everywhere and confusion from traits. Ask if you have any questions on how to play it.
All in all, warriors don’t need much, they need to redesign some kills, either add more mobility or make mobility unaffected by cripples/chills and they’ll be fine honestly. However, recharge rate or banner buffs won’t do it..

2 big changes coming up for warriors:
1) Banners will give more stats, plus possible bug fixes with Banner of Tactics.
2) Warriors will gain access to a trait that increases their damage on targets with more boons.
Banner of Tactics is important if the heal skill on it gets fixed, because it can potentially become a 4k AoE heal on a 10 second recharge if it is fixed. Finally some decent team support can be offered by warriors if that is the case. You thought Eles had good AoE heals with Cleansing Wave? Imagine a 4k heal every 10 seconds, and the recharge is character-specific, so multiple allies can constantly pick up the banner and throw out a burst heal. Cool beans.
If Warriors can get decent damage without having to build glassy, then that opens up the possibilities of building very tanky with team support, while also having good damage vs targets with boons. If we are allowed to, Warriors can be very tanky if we could build into our tank specs (it’s not viable right now because our tank specs offer no damage or team support = useless). A boon punishment trait could be the alternate source of damage that could open up viability in our tank specs.
So, fingers crossed.

take a break come back whenever u feel like it and leave whenever. b2p game and no pvp gear treadmill are great this way.
Why does everyone uninstall? if you uninstall, you have to reinstall and update when you come back if they fix pvp………………..grrrrrrrr
to take out their frustation. like the printer scene in Office Space. you got to physically destroy the thing that you hate
