Is it just me or the amount of lv1 (or close to it) players in sPvP increased substantially after the Bazaar of the Four Winds update? I see several of them in pretty much every hotjoin and also some in tPvP. Is it that people feel they are now “forced” to farm AP for shiny things and folks previously not interested in PvP are forcing themselves into it now? I dont know what to think about it if that is the case. From one point of view I should be happy that there are more players involved. From other I would prefer to avoid the amount of people mindlesly zerging the battlefield. In hotjoin I can accept to have all those new players in team. After all, HJ is a senseless zerg anyway and new people should learn somewhere. But in case of tPvP, having one in your team is often gamebraking.

Or maybe that free gear made them come to the mists to try it on and they decided to give it a try. Also I think woodenpotatoes did some videos about trying pvp so maybe that brought some people in as well.

Yeah, it’s nice to have more people, but when I see some guy coming to “help” me cap a node when I just arrived there it… I swear, I wish we could PK in this game.

i’m totally blaming him for that. he said “screw hotjoins, go straight for rated matches” or something along those lines :P

the more the merrier i say, just hope you don’t land in the same team as a person still getting adjusted by the matchmaking system.

I played my first pvp game ever yesterday (from the server list, so I guess its “hot-join”) and it was actually surprisingly fun. I was expecting to just be immediately murdered as I only PvE and WvW’d and thought that pvp’ers were on a whole different level (I have faced off against much greater pressure from WvW roamers than what I had in these games). I was glad that I held my own and felt like an asset to my team. I will actually come back.

Anyway, the reason I tried it was because I had some overlap skins from the achievement chests and didn’t want to just destroy them. So I played to get a salvage kit and get materials I might want someday when I do pvp more.

I know of at least a couple of friends who went in for Skyhammer… and haven’t left.

Aye better for people to go tpvp than be unlucky and end up in a server where newbie farming is going on.

You pretty much right though, those roamers in wvw are dangerous, I think I lost nearly all my matches 1v1 against wvw roamers, then I come to tpvp and I destroy pretty much everyone.

they noticed they got some pvp skins and went fooling around also yeah skyhammer.

also some new people have sudden need to grind ap yeah.

it’s annoying to get teamed up with some rank 1 guys who just leave or whatsoever or don’t even know the map.

please limit ranked matches to rank 15+ or something i think you get there in a day or so since first ranks come fast.

I’ve noticed rank 1s start at 70-90%, I rarely see them in the other ‘s. Its a shame anet doesn’t force rank 1 to be 0.

If they have a choice whether to make something a pve skin or pvp skin, pve’ers are going to chose pve skin, so I know they aren’t coming here just because they got pvp skins, they don’t convert them to pvp they keep them as pve.
