Suggestion: Dueling
It is comming to the game in form of guild-halls.
One of their features is a upgrade that unlocks a arena, complete with customizable environment (walls/traps/turrets or just decoration) and easy faction-swapping, so you can create whatever scenario you might like.
You have a fast-travel button for your guild-hall that you can use from any point in tyria. Group-members can fast-travel to your guild-hall as well.
I don’t know what you could ask more for.
As long as it is not Open World dueling, go for it!
Good luck.
to easy to abuse a point system with duels you could just have a second account that lose all the time
Edit
Hear someone bought 27 accounts when they were 10 bucks each.

They’ve already said they’ll never do PvP in the open world as it doesn’t create for a friendly environment. It’s also been mentioned that they’ll never do it by players in all the other posts about this.

They’ve only said that they would never do nonconsensuel open world pvp. However a dueling system with an auto-decline option would not go against what they said. I wouldn’t mind such a system, although I wouldn’t use it much myself.
No, thank you. PvP should be contained in PvP areas – and for everyone else the guildhall arena should be enough.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
For the people who say no, I want to ask: How exactly would a dueling system negatively affect you (if there was an auto-decline option which was switched on initially)?
You can find those answers in the myriad of other threads discussing this issue.
Good luck.

Such a system existed in WoW. People trolling players for not accepting duels, especial players that clearly had no chance of winning. Much of the toxic community resides in sPvP due to it being a competitive environment and a breeding ground for trolls. Last thing we need is those players trickling in to troll players in open world maps that have no interest in pvp. Lastly, this is already being implemented in guild halls, so continually asking for this is now pointless.
- You are chicken.
- I can beat you as many times I want.
- Shut up, and be a man. (Doesn’t matter what you arguing about the winner will gona have the right)
Want more? Provocation would never stop.
PvE maps we use PvE gears and builds, not hard to lose against someone who running around prepared to 1v1 and nothing else.
Gear differents like the 5% extra what ascended gives enough to win a match where is only 4% different between 2 player.
One to many option for PvP, use the arenas made specificly for this and paid by community to have fair 1vs1 for those who enjoy that, don’t mind the gear or build? Go WvW and avoid the commander tag can find a lot of peep roaming solo to 1v1.

I was playing WoW for the full free trial one month and I was actively looking for these toxic duelists.
I hanged around the dueling spot in goldshire. No one there was harassing me even after I declined their request.
These toxic dueling story is probably a minor thing. You remember it because you remember bad things better than the good things.

People are exaggerating when it comes to this supposed toxic community, and ive played 6 7 crowdy mmorpgs last 7 yrs solely for pvp/dueling. There is no such thing, while any game as with the real world has its trolls – u can even use the same arguments the devs used for implementing the mentor system – why hinder the playerbase cuz of some bad eggs? Some people just like to scream and be heard, theyre afraid because they lack knowledge and arnt tolerant. Spoiled brats i say which hinder a richer experience, much like the conservatists. But in the end its Anets game and theyve chosen this path. Thankfully we’ll see some dueling through guild halls, but i long for the day dueling is openee up at larger pve areas, giving incentive to visit places, like the arena in BC.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
Hi all!
What you think about adding in game possibility to duel with another player or friend? My point here is about the possibility of fighting on the maps like:
- Pvp, Pve
- Wvw, Bordelans
- DungeonsA simple way with a standard command “/duel”. I miss it very much. I know i can go to “WvW”, “Bordelans” or “PvE” and train on dummys but this is not a point. Adding “/duel” command we can fight, train in whole “Tyria”. And maybe later can be added a special points for participating in duals.
I think that will be a nice to have it in the game.
To OP even if it’s not official dueling exists in the game, go to custom games in pvp and look for 1 vs 1 arenas, it’s not perfect but it exists.
Best regards

Your 1 month free trial time obviously makes you very experienced in this. Lol. And like I have said before, dueling will be allowed in guild halls, so this is pointless.

If I did not experience one single harassment during my 1 month free trial time, then toxic duelists aren’t a major problem.
It wasn’t just WoW, I’ve looked in Rift since it was free to play, but there wasn’t anyone that tried to duel with me and I couldn’t find a dueling spot.

First of all, not sure why you would have any interest in dueling in a dungeon, or in WvW — I see that as pointless. Here’s how I’d implement it into the game.
Dueling in PvE:
– available in all maps besides major cities
– not available during personal story/living story missions
– not available in dungeons/fractals
Dueling in WvW:
– not available
Dueling in PvP:
– Available anywhere outside of the main hub
– Revamp HotM so there is a separation between open space and the test golems/AI professions — unavailable in this location (in order to have duelests out of the way and not interrupting players training)
– players would love to see a new HotM, players often love change and progression
– available while waiting in queue for an sPvP match
– there is still the incentive to have dueling servers because it may get tedious to keep challenging people who don’t want to fight, dueling servers will bring many people who want duels together and who aren’t waiting for sPvP matches
Dueling Conditions
– A duel may be requested by right clicking the requested player’s avatar and selecting the Duel option, or through the chat commands /duel player name, or /duel @ while the requested player is selected
– A player participating in a duel may not be challenged to a duel
- A player participating in a duel may not challenge a player to a duel
– All dueling players must be at least Level 31 to participate in a duel (does not apply to PvP)
– Duels do not reward the player with XP or in-game items
– Players may forfeit a duel by typing /forfeit in the chat-box while participating in a duel
– All Duels have a countdown timer of 5 seconds before the duel begins
– A flag is placed in the ground around dueling players to inform other players that a duel is taking place
– All Duels end when either player has been defeated through the downed state
– Once a duel is finished, both players will be revived and restored to 33% HP. If the player has not been defeated by death, their current state will not be affected
– Monsters are not restricted from attacking dueling players in PvE
– Duels are automatically cancelled when either player is attacked by a monster in PvE
– Duels are automatically cancelled when either player has received a message to accept an sPvP match (this will remove the likelihood of players declining matches to finish their duels)
– If a duel is cancelled, both players will remain in their current state

I wrote this on mobile, not sure how the layout will turn out, forgive me if its atrocious. Remember feature packs? I believe something like this should be a part of those. I’m quoting this entire, huge post…every word. I agree with it that much.
Spot on. Duels working this way would not interfere with people who are somehow offended by their existence, and I can’t imagine that every corner of this mostly empty game world would suddenly flood with raging duelist trolls. Some people seem to believe the inclusion of duels would suddenly quadruple the population, and they would all just be dueling anywhere they tried to go…
Implement dueling thoughtfully and it would work out just fine…Y’know, like dueling has in literally every other major MMO. They all have it. WoW, AoC, Tera, Rift, Ragnarok, Wildstar, Aion, Champions Online, Neverwinter, DC Universe, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Star Wars The Old Republic…Deep breath, passes out, blue in face
Point is…it’s a staple of the industry, now. Not really a good reason to exclude it.

Dueling will exist in guild halls and already exists in 1v1 pvp servers. This topic is pointless. There is no need for duels elsewhere. Period.
It would be nice if we could be dueling in a specific area in Heart of The Mists as we are already stuck there for long periods of time.

If there would be no need, people would not be asking for this. Apparently, to them it makes a big difference whether one duels in pvp servers, in wvw or in guild halls on the one hand and in the open pve world on the other hand.

People ask for a lot of things that are not needed.

I like this list except for this part.
What if someone is afking during an instance? I can use this time to duel with other players.
Major cities are big. If I duel on top of the Phoenix Roost, it will not bother anyone in the cities. Just restrict it to keep away from crafting station, banks, mystic forge if it needs to be.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
The real answer is too many casuals got into duels they couldn’t handle and couldn’t handle losing so then they became super bitter because a good fight is one thing in the game they’ll never be able to “earn” by spamming 1 and now they’re dead set on denying anybody else from getting it either.
At this point I’m just happy we’re getting the guild hall arena. You kind of have to resign yourself to which part of the community ANet values.
Elementalist – Necromancer – Warrior

my first mmo was a game called dekaron an extremely over the top pvp/pk game .max level players would always run by the lower level maps and keep on bugging you to dual and if you still said no well they would flat out kill you.if your a hard core pvp fan i say try that game out.just be warned that game isn’t for the weak. i have to admit i sometime miss one person picking a fight with a guild and you would have guilds and there friends in a war for hours at a time
Guild Wars 2 has changed a lot of things that I find for the good. For example, you can’t inspect anyones gear. I also like that I am not spammed with dueling requests all day long.

Granted. However, they feel there is a need. Other feel there isn’t. Who can objectively judge who is right? Especially in a game like GW2 which doesn’t include features for one specific group only but which tries to be pretty all-inclusive in what you can do in the game.

Thus the existence of dueling servers and now guild hall duels. Anet is trying to cater to both crowds, but the pro-dueling crowd is still demanding even more, infringing on the anti-dueling crowd.
