I had an idea come to me regarding the leaderboard while I was watching the (American) football playoffs recently. There is a stat used to evaluate passers, called Quarterback Rating. It takes into account multiple different stats to evaluate different QBs and how effective they are.
The actual statistic is made up of different stats that have different weights; I think the GW2 leaderboard could greatly benefit from such a statistic as well. One that still had some weight to games played, but one that could also take in MMR, or points earned per game, or win percentage, or a combination of different things.
To me, this would seem to mean that a player who is highly skilled could still rank highly on the leaderboards, but you couldn’t win a few games and be in the top 10 like the old leaderboard. Sort of a happy medium between the old and new leaderboard, if done correctly.
