My Suggestion:
You should neither gain nor lose pips if the point spread is over 375

Reasoning:
If you are solo queued, and you get crushed over 375pts, it’s not your fault (almost impossible to carry that much); therefore losing a pip is pretty BS and nothing but salt.

If you are the winner, and you crush the team over 375pts, you really didn’t work for the win, thus you do not really deserve a pip.

terrible idea. People will start throwing matches after the first mid-fight.

People already AFK once they see the spread get massive in the first few minutes.

That’s different. losing the mid fight, might put you back by 50 points, but with this system in place, the side that lost is now “incentivized” to just give up immediately.

How about not losing the pip if you were the highest person on the losing team? Winning team gets their pips, and 4/5 players on the losing team lose a pip, but the person that tried their hardest at least doesn’t get penalized for the rest of their team being very poor.

And honestly, it should, although I’m sure it’s a difficult metric to figure out.

I agree that personal score should be more relevant and not losing pips should be decided by that rather than the whole team’s performance. However, for now it would be a better suggestion in my opinion to not lose pips for point gaps of 50 points or less. What the OP is suggesting, while a good idea if people were trying their best the whole game, would just encourage people to throw matches.

yeah it should but there are about 3 uses for personal score:

  1. grant achievement/reward track progress for participation
  2. tiebreak
  3. identify carries

it currently suffices for 1 and 2, but 3 requires intelligence to identify anyone who isnt a +1er. i dont think making the scoring system intelligent would be worth anets time.
