[Suggestion] Shorter 'Waiting for Players'
or maybe quickly discuss some tactics before the match, but that actually rarely happens.
If this happens rarely on your matches you are doing something wrong.
OK, sometimes nobody answers but you should at least try to discuss about tactics, builds, split and so on with your team. In my experience in the most cases at least some answer you. In a full premade team there is no need for this as roles and builds are well known.

So when I ask people about their build and who goes where or who takes treb and nobody answers I am doing something wrong? What kind of backwards logic is that?
Obviously I don’t have these issues in premades. I have a PvP guild and we use TS3. But sadly I’m European playing in an NA server so when I’m playing in the afternoon (my time) my guildies aren’t online to play with and then I’m stuck doing solo-queues.
Even in the odd occasion that we do discuss tactics at the start of a match, it usually doesn’t take the full 1:20 minutes to setup a plan. Yet people still refuse to press that ‘Change Status’ button even after we’re done discussing tactics (it’s usually the same people who don’t even answer who also refuse to press that ‘Change Status’ button, making me wonder what the hell they’re actually doing).
I suggested they make the button a bit larger and more obtrusive. Most of the time I think people just forget to hit ready up

This is most likely what is going on. I always click the button, but to be honest, I had no idea that when everyone clicks the button then the match will go ahead and start. Mostly because I have never been in a match where everyone selected they are ready. Always thought it was an afk check or something, this explains so much.
Maybe explain to them that the match is waiting for them to hit the button to start? Guarantee you the majority of them just don’t know. ;P
Timer isn’t the issue, ready up button is. If I know the team I’m against is strong, then I’ll want to take time to discuss things. On the other hand, they should really put the button in the middle of the screen or something so people actually notice it.

remember in gw1 you would say: “1” nothing more needed to be said about nothing. the good ol’ days

That’s a good point. Maybe if Anet moves the ‘Change Status’ button to the middle of the screen so it blocks your view in a somewhat obnoxious way until you press it, maybe then more people will actually press it.
Nan there must be enough time to switch classes or to trash talk the map chat before game starts.

You sounded like you didn’t even try it, and that would be your fault. That you always get no answers is really odd. As I wrote sometimes nobody answers but in my matches most of the times I get answers.
I often times just forget to press the button. Moving it to the middle of the screen with a size similar to the current “match ready” notification might help.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
Moving it to the middle of the screen until you have selected your are ready is a great idea. Last night I just posted in map chat at the start of every match “Change status to start the match early” and that generally worked. Just a simple copy/paste text line to remind everyone that button is there and what it is for. Of course on some matches I got the trolls and or people just goofing off, but the majority of the time people complied and had my back encouraging others to do the same.
