Hello everyone,

I started this topic with the hopes of creating some idea’s of making sPvP more fun. As a casual gamer I just hitted the level 80 cap after around 1 year of playing sPvP. I hope you guys could provide us some idea’s or enforce some of the idea’s I present! I wonder what most of you think about it. Some of my own idea’s:

More and Better Achievements
Right now there is a sPvP Achievements category but it only contains achievements like: “Win x matches”, “Win x matches as <Profession>” and the level up achievements. Maybe it would be more fun if more creative achievements were added such as “Survive longer then 30 seconds while under 10% HP.” I am not saying this is a good example. But I hope you all get the idea. Next to that it could be fun to make some sPvP exclusive skins? Which you could only earn through sPvP but which are usable in PvE to, such that everyone can see you also like sPvP. Just some thoughts!

Saving Builds
Ever had those moments when you were in ranked or unranked and you switched characters and you found out that you forgot to set the right traits, weapons or amulets? (I hope I wasn’t the only one…) Some of you guys might remember GW1 where you could save builds by saving a code. I think this was a great idea and even though the GW2 builds aren’t that complex it still would be really nice if you could just store different builds, and give them names yourself. This way players can easily swap between builds without having to reset all traits and things. If it’s not to complicated people should also be able to share their builds using the chat. (Like the old GW1 again!:P). I think more people hoped for a system like this. (As I’ve seen this question more times!)

Official Build website or an API
Right now there are multiple build websites out there of which most are really outdated. I think the only ones that come close are Metabattle and IntoTheMist. But whenever new patches are applied things get broken or outdated again. I guess this is a very hard thing to maintain/implement as it would maybe also decrease development speed of patches (Because of Build calculators that need to be updated and things). But if it’s possible then it would really boost the community when it comes to build making both for PvP and PvE. If implementing a whole side is too much, an API could also be created such that build sites themselves automatically get the new descriptions of skills after patches. For example:

http://api.guildwars2.com/v2/skills/
Which returns all skills with {Name, ID, Description} or

http://api.guildwars2.com/v2/skills/15
Which would return the {Name, ID, Description} pair for the skill with ID 15.

Build sites could then implement their own parsing methods for stripping out conditions. Or they could check whenever a skill has changed.

Seperation of modes
Right now I think there are 3 types of maps:
- Deathmatch, aka Courtyard
- The new Stronghold map
- Maps with Capture points, everything else.

I heard many players either root for maps like courtyard or totally hating it. I think most people either like or dislike the map because they have a specific build which is not nice for that map. Of course things like that exist for other maps too. (CC on Skyhammer for example) But Courtyard is on a totally different degree. Back to the point:

I think it’s good that these modes get seperated and that players can choose themselves which mode they want to play. Personally I am really looking forward to Stronghold, but it would be a shame if you pressed the unranked button only to see that everyone would vote for Legacy of the Foefire over Stronghold. (Because they are not used to or build for maps like stronghold)

What do you guys think about this?

New modes

I guess this is bit of a dull one since they already implemented Stronghold not so long ago. But it’s still something to complete the list. New modes like Capture the Flag might be cool! (Or something like the Hall of Monuments Battles of the old GW1). But it’s not something very new, and I am sure GW2 is already trying to release new maps here and there.

(More) sPvP Exclusive rewards
It’s already said in the first idea! But I think this would really pull a lot of people to PvP. We just need to make sure that people are encouraged to play together to earn the rewards, instead of just selfishly trying to be the best. (As you see in Practice mode a lot of time) * Double Cap * * Cough *

Really nice suggestions!

I’d like to add that we need the Leaderboard finished before or at the same time as the expansion. Competitive players will need a good Leaderboard to continue playing… competitively (something that gives them prestige for their effort and a way to see how are you progressing). A Leaderboard helps to distribute rewards based on tiers (leagues) or on skill (MMR based)!

Better Leaderboard / Ranking System [Poliator]
Right now people don’t know at what rank they play. They just play ranked but they don’t really know how good they are compared to others. (Some rare people might watch the website, but most don’t) An idea would be that some kind of League system would be implemented where every League represents a range of experience/skill. It would be nice if the metrics for such a ranking system would also be known.
