Suggestions that would benefit everybody

Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
I’m curious whether devs lol at these posts or if they cry a bit inside.. maybe both? Seemed that way in the stream when they talked about warriors!
- Ring of Perception - 1200 gems – Wearer of this ring perceives all opponents as humans. Usable only in PvP. Account bound.
(other editions could be possible: Norn – for people that want to fight norns. Asura – for people that want to fight disgusting mutated drowned rats. Etc.)
As funny as the post was, ^this^ needs to be implemented in some way.
Asura make the game ugly to watch and and ugly to play. And are a disgusting abuse of a racial bonus, and we all know racial bonuses are not meant to be in spvp.
Give players the option to see everyone as a human/sylvari. Not norn/charr because that would be the direct opposite of the asura cheat.
To be honest, I bet the anti-skyhammer ring would actually sell and make anet some money. It could be “allows the wearer to choose one map that will no longer appear in the solo arena rotation”. Then, it wouldn’t be limited to skyhammer and could actually appeal to a lot of people. Just a thought.

I feel like sPvP is lacking for some really solid gemstore interaction. These are some ideas you guys could do in game or in gemshop (or both).
1. Emotes. Special emotes and what not. Simple, yet effective
2. Medals. You know how if you do world completion you get a fancy medal? Build off that. Medals in gemshop, medals for winning turnys, etc.
3. Announcer sounds. Pregame players can apply a special announcer or something like that.
4. UI changes. Simple things like it changes the colors or decorations. Adds effect, etc.
5. “Press Pass”. You can buy it once (probably be a good idea to let players buy it with gold in game too, but a considerable amount if you want) and they can spectate ranked matches and talk in spectating chat
6. VIP areas in the mist. Special places for players to hang out. You can have one that you buy off the gem shop, a special place for gem shop winners, etc.
7. Titles, duh
8. Guild rewards. Things maybe like special looking banners (apply it and changes all your banners). Special looking banquet items. Special Emblems. Special Back pieces. There are so many choices when it comes to guilds, I’m still baffled why it hasn’t been expanded on sooner.

You shouldn’t have to pay for such a silly option. Many games have omit options by default.
LOL
But on a serious note, the current direction is not too bad.
The issues are really Skyhammer being in the rotation for SoloQ and Asuras not being banned for at least bigger, external tournaments (rule-sets).
I would also instead lower the prices on Custom Arena and especially tokens.
All in all Announcers, Finishers, Skins, these should be fine for the Gem Store, I think.
1. Emotes. – It is an idea which I find interesting, but which has to be evaluated and it has to be seen which emotes have an appeal.
2. Medals. – No, it doesn’t give much of a value, I feel.
3. Announcer sounds. – Yes, see point 5.
4. UI changes. – I think no, rather allow more freedom with the UI as there was with Guild Wars 1.
5. “Press Pass”. – Dota 2 uses it and it works quite well, but right now, Guild Wars 2 is not in a good enough state to have passes to the matches.
6. VIP areas in the mist. – This is not really necessary.
7. Titles. – See point 2.
8. Guild rewards. – Give back Guild Halls ? Give players something to put in there, maybe let them purchase mini-games ?
I edited the text and gave reasonings.

I know, that’s why I said I’m not being serious. Well that’s partly true, the first part of my post still stands.
You need to find a way to make PvP more profitable so we can get updates more often.
Because, as hard as it is to believe, some people really don’t care abuot what Scarlet is doing. Why should they be punished with another 2-3 months of waiting for the LS to finish?
i acutally would like to support this, Justin be4 you make such a quick comment how about communicate this to someone actually in the position to make such decision?
- Ring of Perception - 1200 gems – Wearer of this ring perceives all opponents as humans. Usable only in PvP. Account bound.
(other editions could be possible: Norn – for people that want to fight norns. Asura – for people that want to fight disgusting mutated drowned rats. Etc.)
- Ring of Acrophobia - 1200 – Wearer of this ring will never be placed on the Skyhammer map in competitive tournament play. Usable only in PvP. Account Bound.
I’m not really serious.
Gimmie.
THIS WAS AWESOME!
This post seems very ridiculous but it’s actually very confronting on what is wrong with PvP
This post sums up what’s wrong with this game with such beauty and class that it brings tears to my eyes. When I realised I’d actually pay for some of these it made me think. #allisvain
110k WvW kills | Champion Legionnaire, Paragon |
I would buy all of these 3 items.
And i am serious on this one, i have yet to spend a single $ in the gemstore but for these items i would pay without thinking twice about it.
Might buy the see-no asura item, but would definitely buy the no-skyhammer item- totally worth $10 not to play that map again.
- Scroll of Past Victories – 1600 gems – Awards player with rank points for victories achieved in Team and Solo Arena prior to December 7th 2013. 300 points for Solo Arena and 800 points for Team Arena. One time use only. Account Bound.
- Ring of Acrophobia – 1200 – Wearer of this ring will never be placed on the Skyhammer map in competitive tournament play. Usable only in PvP. Account Bound.
I would be 70+ already u.u
Never had problems with asura players…but i’m fine with giving that chance to other ppl if they think it would help (Not really sure about that…)
Btw still a way better “Ready up” than all anet’s together…

oh man, lucky those OP rings are balanced with the non ability to wear rings in spvp.
Asura – for people that want to fight disgusting mutated drowned rats.
Lol. Poor Asura.
I’m feeling tempted to go post this quote in the Asura-forum. xD
I’d happily pay to not play in Skyhammer ever again.

If you don’t want to suffer from being-asura racial bonus, click your player detail limit to lowest and everybody will be the same

yeah good try but that only works in pve and wvwvw, we spvp guys are special.
I’d actually pay money for those changes.
Do not know which one would sell better – the asura or skyhammer one? Both look almost mandatory in spvp…
I’m all for making money… but not like this. =|
I think you’re working for the wrong company
+1 for the topic.
The sad side of this is that point 2 was demanded since… ever, but still nothing.
You know what would really benefit everybody?Them not wasting more time in useless story modes and actually fix pvp.
You listed things that we shouldn’t pay for, but the development should have fixed ages ago.
I’d buy all 3.
Ring of Acrophobia – 1200 – Wearer of this ring will never be placed on the Skyhammer map in competitive tournament play. Usable only in PvP. Account Bound.
I’d give all my money for that

Except that it wont actually benefit anyone including you pvp only plyaers. The game depends on PvEer for profits, profits are important for Arenanet, more profit more money to spend on other projects. I think it is just easier to accept the fact if spvp was taken out of the game, it wouldn’t negatively impact the game in any significant or meaningful way. Just imagine how significant the bite of 1 fire ant is.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
they should just add a giant pot to the mists, when 100,000,000 gems have been collectively placed in the pot, Skyhammer will be removed from the game.
they’ll make loads of cash!
i’ll personally put 10,000 gems in, the other 99,990,000 is up to you!
I would make it a whole lot easier (and more profitable).
You want PvP to remain neutral play for a day 1 player versus a day 365 player.
That is the “schtick” and a mighty fine one at that.
Of course, that would appear to make it hard to monetize with a gem store.
However, player versus player combat is broken into Spvp and WvW. There is likely a high level of overlap between the playing communities (have no way of verifying that but my gut would bet a steak dinner to Justin it overlaps nicely).
So, why not have a character’s performance in Spvp impact their success in WvW by allowing glory to be a currency that converts to PvE gear? For example, you could drive population into Spvp quickly by having glory be a means to acquire ascended for those who don’t want to craft. You would want to monitor the conversion ratio carefully but you get the picture. And you would drive population that might not Spvp into the genre who probably would like it a whole lot better if it had more tangible “other game” benefit.
Now the gem store wouldn’t make you more powerful in Spvp but it could sell you glory boosters so the relative time/number of matches is lower. Profit.
Glory wouldn’t just have to convert to gear. It could convert to World Experience. Now the gem store could sell you a conversion token so you could exchange glory for world experience at some meaningful rate (or it could be a booster to that conversion rate). Lots of things you could do to almost immediately drive numbers to spvp and really start to monetize off Spvp. Just think of glory as convertible and a currency.
What about that concept Justin? Getting closer? Or am I going to have to buy you a steak dinner for making the wrong assumption that your Spvp base and WvW base have a fair amount of overlap that could be jointly appealed to?
I lolled at that Ring of Acrophobia. After implementing such a ring they will continue to make maps like skyhammer and sell same rings for each map to get moar money
“Ring of Acrophobia” could be considered “pay to win” and hence a bit out of line IMO.
I’m all for making money… but not like this. =|
I would 100% buy the Scroll of Past Victories and right now I feel robbed for getting much less rank points for my time playing than the hotjoin farmers.

That would also bring more of the rank 1’s into soloq, something no experienced player wants to see, but what can do about it.

Anet, i would buy Ring of Perception and Ring of Acrophobia right now.
[Teef] guild :>
A lot of PvP players feel like Anet is neglecting PvP and that their main focus is PvE. That is not entirely true. Their main focus is the Gem store, PvE is just the best method of introducing the new items:
- Make a new shopping list of grindy achievements .
- Wrap the list up in some sort of “story”.
- Release items in the Gem Store that are somewhat related to the “story”.
- ???
- Profit!
Sometimes they just skip a few steps and say: “Hey, spend $50 and you’ll get this absolutely useless minipet!” And that is exactly what people do. So that brings us to the real problem of PvP: no way to monetize it. Sure, some people buy armor skins and finishers but all of that is usable in PvE too. PvP needs to make money on its own. So without further ado, my suggestions for PvP Gem Store items:
- Scroll of Past Victories - 1600 gems – Awards player with rank points for victories achieved in Team and Solo Arena prior to December 7th 2013. 300 points for Solo Arena and 800 points for Team Arena. One time use only. Account Bound.

There we go, easy 50 bucks. Players get what they want, Anet gets what they want, their NCsoft overlords get what they want. Everybody’s happy.
And maybe if PvP starts making money we get more than 3 updates a year!I’m not really serious.
what ruins skills only pvp – gear progression.
what’s worse then earning your edge through gear grind? earning it by paying cash.
one might as well sell scroll of victory: $1/scroll – gives you 500 points head start per game
10/10 would buy, would read again

you know, its kind of fun to see developer’s attitude on these things, obviously they believe player should get them for free, but on the other hand they either don’t have time or resource(due to the fact these change wont produce income), or simply when compared to other more pressed matters with “legit” income attached, they are just in a lower priority Q.
Welfare Vs Capitalism, such a wonder to even see this manifest in the game.
let’s just be realistic here, you developer made this game for money, just make poll see what pvper wants the most, and made them into a nice buddle called value added service for those that actually cares and want to see these change happen in our not so long gaming life span.
