Geez, the shatter vs shatter video is the most in-depth gameplay breakdown I’ve ever seen. If you make it a full series, it will be quite the collection for upcoming Mesmers. Pretty awesome work so far, very nice.

tldr, 63 page pdf? More like a manual :P, if you want the people that will actually benefit from your work to read it you will have to cut it down to like 15 pages max, all of the play by play that you used as a script(?) should just be referenced by time stamps in your video.

You definitely need to summarize this quite a bit more before most people will actually read it.

Also that table of contents is killing my soul, please fix (you make headers and link them to the referenced pages and the dots are made automatically).

In terms of the guide, I cannot recommend zxc as utils because I have been doing it since beta and it is a terrible habit >.<. The quick tips page needs headers or dividers because right now it is an unreadable wall of text. Also all the good stuff like points about matchups and skill rotation / combos should be at the top and all the useless garbage that is already presented at the start in the quick overview like spec gear etc should be at the end in an appendix (because no one really needs the reasoning for the selection shoved in their face because most of it is pretty obvious).

I never thought i would be “technical reporterizing” a mesmer guide lol

Yo BTW, updated the build links in the guide, apparently intothemists changed the trait numbers in the illusion tree because of the Dec. 10 patch I think, so it changed from Illusionary Invigoration to Dazzling Glamours, which is not what we want! So yeah now it’s back to normal

Also, Fay and Pyro have a Mesmer website where they put my guide! It makes access a lot easier, I’ll put it in my signature too. Of course if you want the download the other link will still be there as well.

Alrighty everyone another update! I added an addendum to the bottom of the guide. Basically everything in the guide is still relevant but I’m using two new builds for Team queue in hopes of being viable. One is sword/torch GS with Halting Strike. Other is the older Staff Halting Strike Shatter spec. They are both linked and discussed in the addendum section. The addendum section also is hyperlinked within the document just as the other sections in the table of contents. The addendum section will be good for the guide so people can constantly check back and see what I’m up to.

In addition to that I also added some notes under Ether Feast about when to heal. There are a few other random changes as well, but check it out! (Including a secret you might want to find in the guide!!!)

This guide made me interested in trying Mesmer. Just wanted to bump this and say wow what a great guide.

This is absolutely excellent info. Your blink location guide was helpful for me as an ele, and the shatter guide helps me fight mesmers (as well as improve my own mesmer gameplay, which is still fledgling at best).

We need to get this added to an official list of guides!

I’ll vote for you to be an allstar if you bring your mesmer and not your thief. I like seeing quality mesmer play.

As a scrub I mainly stick with PU builds for spvp. You can mindlessly stack condis on opponents while hiding in stealth and stacking boons on yourself. Scepter/torch and staff are my weapons of choice but I would definitely agree with GS/Staff for shatter or phantasm power builds. The illusionary warlock hits hard.

if you play mesmer you basically need to read this guide so you don’t get destroyed by every single class in the game. the guide also helps with any other class as you can see how easy of a time you have doing just about anything in comparison, great read supcutie has my vote for gamescom as well as president

The longest guide ever just got longer! Also you had a typo in the forza section and capricorn isnt a map anymore. I wonder if anyone has ever pulled off a focus 4 swap blink gs 5 half sec before focus 4 auto pulls into a full mindwrack on like 3+ stacked people. I usually just cheat and do a gs 2 clone shatter on ressers.

Also yeah I’ve done that before Zirith, you don’t need to GS 5 though since the enemies are immobed and primed for the Shatter. I would just save it for actual interrupts.

Oh I meant like there are people all over the point and you get them into pull range with the gs5, say like they are spread over 2/3 of the graveyard point :P Just thinking that would be like a tourney highlight play if someone were to suckup all 4 people in a teamfight in a second and hit them with a x4 mindwrack. Im just daydreaming at this point, havent been able to play for a month.

Ah I see. Yeah I think the only way that would work is if you were out of combat, laid down the curtain, swapped GS, pushed, then swapped back to focus to pull the rest. I’ve done that against one person on skyhammer to knock them off the edge, but never in a team fight

Does curtain not pull if u wait a couple seconds for it to run out? Initially I thought about needing to be ooc but if u let it sit and hit people with the gs5 before it expires then they wouldnt be able to dodge it o.O (thought that up as I wrote it)

Naw if you don’t actively use the pull ability it won’t pull and will just disappear.

Thought it did but I guess people were just casting it near the end of duration, I’ve pretty much always done a 4 5 4 asap so never actually tested the end of duration thing. Still though, I’m definitely going to try it while ooc
