Sync Queue still not solved!
Won’t be fixed, the coding to fix it is more work then the pay-off is in the end. Never has been fixed since GW1 so I would not expect it to be fixed in GW2 either. Apart from that, just remember, they are as likely to face each-other doing sync q as not face each-other or be on each-others team. They gamble and they sometimes win and sometimes lose. Me and friends do this when we don’t have a full team for team q, and only once have I ever ended up in the same match as a friend and it was against them.
I am sorry you got the unlucky end of the stick, but in the end I doubt this will ever be fixed.
Coding it SHOULD not be that hard, since the MM is already checking rank, leaderboard rating and other stuff. They just have to add the parameter “friendlist” and “guild” and to be even more accurate, all people in same 10 seconds windows of queue joining are forced in different matches.
The check for friendslist and guild would be an option, but would not work, as then people would start adding people to their friendlist that they don’t want to play with just to make sure they don’t get que with them. The guild option is there but all it takes as I said is leaving or maybe even just repping another guild till que pops, depending on how they code it.
As it seems yes it is simple, but in the long run there is much more complications to implementing this. The guild side would be the easiest but they would have to code it to where it checks all your guilds and then checks all the people in it it and disallows you to get in a match with any of them. So where it seems simple the coding is much more complicated as MMR and guild checks are to completely different things. It would be like them adding an association with rank to the solo q and they won’t do that.
In fact this is why I added the part of “all people in same 10 seconds windows should be forced in different matches”.
this is why we need a report function because lets face it having a guild team in soloq is exploiting.
the people who do this should get a stack of dishonorable (nothing as serious as account bans or anything, but getting blocked from tournaments for awhile will discourage them from syncing again.)
if people want to team, go to team queue!

You know those 5 minute waits up in the higher bracket? Yeah that 10 second rule could make those 30-60 during prime-time. a 10 second gap would in effect cause more issues then it would fix, since it would make an already long que time for the high MMR players longer while only effectively fixing the lower MMR solo q sync. Yes syncing sucks, but look at most games, people do it in all competitive games from LoL all the way to WoW for randoms. The only reason it is so effective here is because we have a limited player base as is so thus people abuse that. It isn’t exploiting the system it is exploiting the player base and limited amount. The only true way to fix it is a to find a way to drag more players in to PvP.
As much as I would love to see this not happen, I deal with it like I deal with any match, play to win and hope for the best. Syncing Q is just a part of random arenas in any game, and I have dealt with it enough to as well know, that if your team is better you can still win against the communication.
This is essentially already fixed. Rosters are shuffled to distribute MMR evenly to both teams before a match starts, so there’s no way to know if you’re going to land on the same team as your friends any more. They probably wanted to solo queue together, played several games landing on different teams, and then you saw the one match where they got lucky and landed on the same team.

Yeah, the pre-game team shuffle that happens in soloq will start to split up friends if they’ve managed to sync queue for a while – as they’re always playing together and winning/losing together, their MMRs will sync up too, until they’re closer in MMR than other folks they’re matched with and often end up seperated once the 10-player roster is split into two 5-player teams.
Have you ever actually tried sync queueing? You end up against your friend just as often as you end up with your friend.
