Why are there no longer 8 person teams?

I would guess that 8 persons per team with 3 capture points would lead to more team synergy than 5 people for three points. What was the reason to change the mode from 8 to 5 people?

The mode has always been 5man. You’re talking about hotjoin. I guess they removed it because it learns the wrong mechanics as Tpvp has been and always will be 5v5.
