Tanky mesmer?
Im currently trying to make a bunker Mesmer. PC has been overheating lately so haven’t been able to put too much time into it but I plan on upgrading my PC next week so I should be back at it soon. GW2 if I’m correct lets any class be DPS/Tank/Support which is nice for people who like to play around with builds.
Also their are nice DPS Meta builds for mesmers atm id advice checking out the forums to get a nice high DPS build.
It’s called PU.
more specifically, Condition PU.
Mesmer’s have extremely poor passive defense and have to rely on Dodges, Stealth or Clones ( aka noobs / people who aren’t paying attention / stupid players) for our defense.
With low access to aegis and prot and regen outside of PU or Chaos armor/ chaos storm, PU and stealth abuse to gain those boons is as of current, our only option to be “tanky”.
You can also opt for a condition shatter build but those don’t hold up well under pressure but they last longer than full zerker shatter builds do.

or any PU build
Is there some sort of tanky mesmer build? Right now I’m all berserker’s with traits into everything +dmg to phantasms and it’s not working cause it seems like my dmg vs others is still low and I get downed in just a few hits.
mesmers can’t bunker points…due to stealth , kiting and skills making you loose cap…
so there’s no need for a bunker mesmer since it won’t work anyway unless you wanna play reterded PU only decent in wvsw or yolo 1v1s noone cares about, in tpvp it’s just totally worthless so unless you want to be flamed hard (With good reason)i won’t suggest you to run PU outside hj, wvsw or other crap like those
Almost no access to stability/aegis, and the main defense options (stealth and distortion) are decapping points.
It’s not impossible to tank as Mesmer (like others said; Mantras are probably the way to go (Restorative/Protected Mantras) probably along with Staff + Sword/Focus (traited), but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Blame the game mode, I guess :0

Support mesmer is viable, and is arguably an improvement over support guard.
Am I good?… I’m good.

Decent point holder and great support in a group fight – just requires skilled use of the focus among other things.
Weaknesses are no boon removal and no huge spike damage.
I ran into a mesmer once that was really just trolling but thus guy was reflecting blocking and distorting like crazy pretty impossible to kill 1v1 and he could run away whenever he felt like it. He did absolutely nooooo damage though

You can use signet-distortion-reflect in a signet build, maybe. Like the guy above said, it has potential to make you immortal if done right. Sadly, can’t take points while invuln. Well, probably for the better.
Better yet, a lockdown build with staff and Bountiful Interruption should give a punch of survivability without going invuln. Instead of being able to bunker damage, it sticks to the mesmer philosophy of avoiding damage all together, interrupting those trying to damage you, making you safe. Then you gain a bunch of boons, some offensive, along with staff’s defensiveness. If all you’re going for is being able to survive on a point, you might want to experiment with the yet unknown[to me, as I know it] 0/4/6/4/0 build with treated focus. Along with a reflection wall, you’ll also be getting a faster rupt speed on the weapon. In fact this seems interesting… might test it out. Thanks for the inspiration~
