Targeting issues
Message body length must at least be 15.
Another issue is that clicking the ground removes your target, which makes targeting in a game this fast paced a nightmare.

This is how it should be I don’t see why you are clicking the ground other than to break targets to begin with. Some skills to move faster around the map with you need to break targetting before using them to hop in the direction you want to (heartseeker for example).
I don’t see why you would be clicking to begin with really use tab to get to your target unless you have tons of minions and things around him, and even then if you click the ground then you misclicked him. I don’t understand how this could be a problem really and I’m pretty sure it was the same in gw1 which is probably why I am used to it.
If you are clicking the ground trying to run you are pressing the wrong mouse button first, always use right click then left click.
And also there is lots of stealhting which makes targeting even more complicated. + Clones, minions, all the PVE stuff like pets, spirits weapons, Thief guild elite etc..
Im in fact going for mouse clicking on target as i found it faster in most cases (especiatelly facing mesmer).
BUT i would love to see improvements in this + better mark on my target. Right now the red circle under my target is not that visible in bigger fights with lot of mess and AOE effect.
I think improving of targeting and making it a bit clear and more visible marks would make the game more “user friendly”

It was different. In GW1 i was pretty much using
TAB = next target
C = close target
CAPS = previous target
i was rotating this 3 keys in order to fast switch targets and it was pretty much effective. I was able to litterally jump from targets and as a warrior in GW1 it was pretty much needed to avoid fighting protected targets. My speed of target switching was sometimes like 3-4 targets in 10 seconds.
Now go back to GW2 and do it successfully. While these keysbinds are still here, i cant do it just because of the AOE mess, lots of NPC minions etc and also because im not really sure where my target is if i press TAB..
so to me.. these are totally different.
I know tab very well, I would see a skill being used accidentally tab and tab through the entire gvg or arena team and come back to that target to rupt the skill I seen before I started tabbing by counting tabs to get there faster (each number/tab was tied to a profession/letter in my head in a circuit that repeated itself that changed each match).
What I was saying was the same is, if you click the ground in gw1 it should also break your target.

Ah, ok.. then i misundersteanded..
seems we did same in GW1 with TAB shame its not working well for me here.. in GW2
TAB doesnt even seem to target the nearest player. To me it seems like the second press of TAB does this. Weird..
Mouse targetting also feels a little weird. If my target moves a tiny bit often the whole targetting thing will miss. In a big fight it seems that its best to mouse target a bit above your enemy, above where his name is. Dont know if other people get this but im often a bit frustrated at the targetting in this game. Never had this with other MMO’s.
Are you sure TAB is not assigned to Next Enemy rather than Nearest Enemy?
I have found targetting really frustrating in this game. I always seem to lose my target. Pets always get targetted first because they are usually closest.
Still working it out but this works best for me:
Changed options so tab targets nearest instead of next enemy.
Auto target has to be off.
Promote target should be off.
This setup has been working pretty well but I still seem to drop traget reguarly and have to click to get past pets.
Thief stealth drops target. I can’t work out why other players also seem to drop target sometimes. I have be really careful not to tab while madly bashing away at keys in combat. I use right mouse almost constantly so maybe I am acccidently clicking.
