I’ve thoguht of this myself, and I do like it, but it’s a little diffrent in the fact everything cleaves, be it burst meta or condi meta, everything hits everyone and you need atleast one person on point. By forcing team fight only through the entire match, you lose certain skillful/strategic plays and will make more useless builds than there are already
I personally wouldn’t mind this as a game type outside of tPvP for social sPvP fun that isn’t just mass 20+ vs 20+ WvW zergs. But I’m sceptical that’d be the game type of choice, something like Halo’s “assult”, like take something to the enemy base and cap it = earn points, would be a better game type imo.

Jon mentioned that they playtested CTF maps internally and they do not work well, but a push map would be viable – something like the train/bomb in TF2, but say a special golem that you have to walk into the enemy base. I actually have a map of this type plotted out, but sadly no mapmaking tools for GW2.
I definitely think something other than conquest is warranted, but I don’t know when it will happen…it is on their radar though.
