the real question is “Is this better or to face 5 soloqers with 1-2 rank 1?”“Is this better or your team to have a 1hour(or more) waiting time every match?”
The problem is not the matchmaking but the low population imo

There was a stealth patch 20-30 min before that , messing the ques and the ppl involved ( why didnt u go afk Maya ? !!!)

Your enemies died in que waiting for a match (or got heart attack when it finally popped).

About everyday we waiting games like 15min… I think this is biggest problem right now

kitten you deserters..And kitten you anet for thinking a pug of 20 ranks with 1-2 40 rank could do anything against full premades..kitten this game and kitten me for wasting so many hours today trying to find a match that has at least even number of players

“Our 2-Team Tournaments have been growing in popularity since they were introduced, however very few players are queuing up for the 8-Team Tournament format anymore, due to that. This often means that players can queue up for hours, without an 8-Team Tournament ever kicking off. This is not a good experience, so we’ve decided to disable them. While we may bring back multi-round PvP tournaments in the future, for now we will be discontinuing the 8-Team, 3-Round Tournament format.”
