That is kind of depressing.
Can we ever expect new maps for tournaments?
I understand tournaments are 3 rounds, so to add more maps would mean either more rounds or 3 rounds and what map you get is random. I think the latter would work.
Enough Tournaments, come on! Like 80 % of the PvP community do not join tourneys at all (or very VERY casualy). You got the qualifying points already, finally something for the “rest” (the majority) of the community
/Btw, im a lil disappointed by this new map… one more cap based one… Can we get a Capture The Flag, or VIP like event ? Or bigger event like 15 vs 15?
Ok At least, this is something new, but i hope u will change more than that… the sPvT need changes, really

Your sentiment is confusing. We were asking that it also be added to the tPvP rotation, not that it’s exclusive to tPvP. Also, I’m a complete casual and I only do free tournaments. There are more casuals doing free tPvP solo-queuing than you think.

Well since we’re brewing up ideas about different map objectives.
King of the Hill (objective location changes after point capture)
Caravan (think one team protects a caravan and the other attacks, switches teams after round, like your VIP)
Bigger events would be fun. Hopefully that void might be filled with GvG 10, 15 or 20 man teams. Who knows when that will get here though.

Is the reasoning for the map not being in the rotation due to the 3 round premise? If so, wouldn’t it be possible to randomize the maps?

After talking to people, we aren’t considering the teleporting a bug. I also wouldn’t consider it an issue on the new map.

Map shipped as Beta being omitted from tPvP makes sense. Good choice.
In regards to teleporting NOT being considered a bug. Can we confirm that it’s intended use can be to move through walls and vertical ledges?
A little clarification as to the stance on this subject would prove important to the overall PvP discussion where many have singled this out as a ‘bug’ that will get fixed. With a clear answer people can instead plan for contingencies to counter it.

I wouldn’t consider it a bug either, except for the jumping through gates/walls part. It’s actually a strategic tool that a skilled person can use to his advantage. What I don’t understand is why the mesmer blink doesn’t function like any other blink out there? It’s quite annoying.
Usually areas that are not easily accessible on foot are flagged in a way that blocks teleportation between levels. Except in specific circumstances where the teleport is deemed “especially cool” or strategic without being gamebreaking (or in circumstances where arenanet hasn’t realized the jump is possible yet). This map will probably be the same.

Speaking of teleporting bug, can elementalists use it (or am I doing it wrong), and if it is not a bug, can we be upgraded to awesome teleport status as well, instead of looking like a ding bat when trying to teleport anywhere near an edge?

Would also like to know why Ele teleport is kittened when other classes teleports are not. Sometimes it will cross a ledge sometimes it won’t. Seems to have a very narrow vertical range.
T’would be sad if they got rid of the teleport, I highly enjoy knocking people down as they spent all that work and time to do it, especially when I get the kill for it.
As of right now, this would give a clear mobility advantage to three of the classes most widely seen in current Tournaments.

Are you trolling? do you want to promote discussions ? dude thats nothing wrong with the maps being inclined 20º or 90º , dude its a Teleport… Teleport means people can Instantly move from a place to another. It’s a Skill.
The issue is that it’s a spammable skill.
Why bring classes that can’t teleport but provide similar damage/bunker abilities. Having classes that can vertically teleport is a direct mobility benefit.
Why bring X over Y if one has far more mobility?

But you’re only delivering things when they are ready. I don’t get how it would be ready and simultaneously in BETA status. People might actually come to the conclusion that the whole game is still in BETA status and “when it’s ready” is actually just another random phrase used to appease the crowd. Surely that is not the case. Am i right?

Actually, that’s a different discussion. Mesmer mobility is on a longer CD and is primarily used team reinforcement. Portal is important to RETURN to places, teleports will help you get to, and return to any place on the map at will.
What I’m referring to is individual spammable teleports that a single individual to rapidly move around a map. If it’s a vertical map then they can traverse the map quickly regardless of team need or CD.
Portal has a long cd but blink still has a cd for example (shorter tho) i don’t find it very abusive, the same way we could pester thieves, guardians and eles (not sure) because they have falling damage reduction and that gives you an unfair advantage, it’s all very situational if you have that trait you don’t have another, if you have that skill you don’t have another….
I’d not theorycraft but wait till we see the map and see if that really makes a difference, although if this is planned to be on tournaments since hot join has absolutely nothing to do with tpvp you should add it to the free tournament rotation.
One of the larger issues with teleport is simple – you can teleport through walls and onto points.
A great example of this is on Battle of Khylo. A quick thief in the beginning of the match can teleport through the clock tower (from the bottom) straight onto the point. Giving your team a sizable advantage in capturing mid early on.
The issue is that, that ‘glitch’ seems to co-exist with the mechanics I’m referring to – teleporting to ledges and other areas that would be unreachable by other classes.
