Rank points gained from win chests at the end of Solo and Team Arenas have been moved.
The rank points will now be completely rewarded at the end of the match.

This has the downside that if you win quick or have a disconnect in the middle you get less rewards now because the rewards are now based on the time you spend in the match. If you dc one minute before the end but come back quickly your 1500 rank turn into 100 or so.
Someone on our team is suffering from random dcs all the time so he gets much less rewards than before.
To top it of if you end with 0 points because of the dc he gets absolutly nothing instead of the equipment chest, glory and rankpoints you used to get before.
This is in need of an urgent fix.

I know people with stable connection probably wont care, but as long as my team wants to carry this guy with unstable connection he shouldnt be punished for it in addition by the game.

And there were dozens of player who got NOTHING in PvP simply because they changed regions. This update fixed that problem, and being it took them that long to fix it count it being permanent.

Rank matters, it gives nice finishers and access to new titles.

Most of the best finishers are in the gem store now.

I dont like the gem store finisher. They have no value to me if you can just pull out your credit card for them.

If you’re truly going for rank – your best strategy at this point is really the same as it always has been – hotjoin skyhammer farm.

In fact, if you really want to carry your buddy, you should open a custom arena and grind it out quick that way.

Also – Soon everything will be fixed. Trust in Big Brother Anet.

Well there are achievements for tournaments, so hotjoin is not an option.
I refuse to ever set a foot again into hotjoin ;D

Rank isn’t always indicative of skill, but that’s not to say that there aren’t quite a few very legit rank 50+ players.

Only a few people are still doing it.
Most are wtj hotjoin matches for rank points.
And nobody cares.
If someone even remotely takes rank titles into account when choosing his target, I sincerely hope he is on the other team.
Whatever the view on rank might be, it is very likely that a rank 50 knows more about pvp than a rank 20.

So…we should try to balance the game around people who disconnect the game frequently?

No but we can removed pointless penalties which hurt legit players more than true leechers anyway.
