The Herald - made to facetank your dmg....
Lol i run a power build and no rev can facetank my damage… Its a l2p issue
A slice of life in GW2 2016
“It’s really frustrating…you’re obviously outplaying them, you’re lining all your dmg skill perfectly…still nothing..you lose in the end”
“You max your direct dmg with power, crit chance and crit dmg stats, you go over the 50% crit chance and 200% crit dmg threshold…your power is above 2k.”
“You see the numbers on the screen: “2k lightning strike, 5k dragon’s tooth…….”….still nothing , the enemy health bar doesn’t move an inch."
“Perma protection, regeneration…..he doesn’t even kittening dodge anything…he’s facetanking dmg "
“My best efforts are insignificant in the face of this astounding passive defensive wall”
So..while the forums enjoy this dragon hunter nerf crusade…this design remains, used in every pro team, ever present…perma protection/regen build with the dmg of a thief…+ condition dmg and powerful CC/block..and…kk too much to add.
I know some people will come here and call me names, they’ll say rev is a not a problem or that doesn’t need changes but….in the end of the day I still see a build able to facetank power dmg without flinching..no wasting time to dodge anything
Power rev is strong vs other power builds but hilariously weak vs condition builds.
Condi rev I find are not too deadly if you have enough cleanses/mitigation to deal with other condition classes in this meta.
Sure revs still need some reductions but they need some pretty decent QoL improvements to some legends and trait lines.

That sounds almost exactly like facing an ele- minus the reflects.
I don’t always fight Heralds
But when I do
I don’t hit it when it is blocking me
Every class has some sort of counter, as a rev, I will lose against any Mesmer, condi warrior, condi ranger, condi necro. In fact in 1v1 the odds are stacked against me against most of the meta build. The only reason why Rev is decent this season is that we are a decent counter to Guard, and there are a boat load of Guards this season. And the only reason we are decent in previous season is because of you (ele) pull condi off of us.

Power ele has been dead in the water for a very very very long time and not just against revs. Most power builds on other classes will take a very large dump from a very long way up on power ele.

Explain me how to kill your reve using a reaper. I’m serious: how can I kill something that with the sword skill 3 strip away half of my life (while I’m unable to hit him why is invulnerable and automaticly dodge every skill i do, obtain might every hit and can use it every 12 sec) and have a insane amount of block/immunity skills, huge CC, really high damage (the best direct damage of the game, I think) and 2 healing skills?
if a revenant chose to kill me there’s really few things I can do to try to save my life and corrupt boons don’t reduce of so much the damage they can inflict to me, also why I’ve not a single defensive skill, while a revenant have a lot of them.
I know that the necromancer is the easier class to focus and kill from…3 years? (and now is easier than ever with no more defensive amulets to help him) But also other classes feel that a revenant have a little too much damage and defence at the same time.
The herald isn’t immortal, but is a class that had been made to be on the top and it will stay there for a while, over all the others.
Yep power rev can faceroll an offensively speced ele but so can every other class at this point so it is more of an ele problem (or every other class) than a rev problem.

CC and corrupts go a long way. Maybe it’s me not finding a good rev but revs are quite easily beat in my opinion.
I have to practice a lot more, then

You might not have a defensive ‘skill’, but you have a second life bar… aka damage sponge

As a power herald main, its actually pretty easy for a reaper to counter me.
-apply 2 condis, make me burn my 1 long cooldown clear
-unload condis on me
-chill or fear me, I cant clear it
-run for the 6 seconds it takes me to die since my 1 heal requires active incoming damage and the other requires me to hit someone and my condi clear isnt off cooldown
Or just play a minionmancer, your minions will soak 80%+ of my outgoing damage and youre free to do whatever.
Or wait till UA gets me stuck in a wall then ignore me the rest of the match.
I have to practice a lot more, then
Depends on what you play, cause condie reaper is another beast than power reaper. Also if that herald is runing staff with sword there will be lot of blocks/evades and CC.And last if the fight starts with DS on your side is a huge factor.
Power Rev is weak against
1) Classes with lots of pets (mesmer , pet necro). His dmg splits between pets so he cant rly hurt you.
2) Condi burst classes. Only way for Rev to deal with condis are
a) a single condi removal every 10 secs if they spec Invocation which is rare, most Revs choose Retribution.
b) Staff #4 is a slow and bad condi cleanse
c) Another weak condi cleanse in long cooldown If they use rune of leadership
Carefull if they are not Power speced but Condi/Mallyx . Those revs are weak against stuns , crowd controls. You need to stun/interrupt him at low health then burst him down.
Last, always stop dealing dmg to a Herald when he pops up Facet of “Your dmg heals me for the next 2 seconds”
You might not have a defensive ‘skill’, but you have a second life bar… aka damage sponge
If we’re getting technical about it, Shroud is in RPG terms more akin to a mana shield than an actual health bar. It’s also the biggest weakness of Necro in general. Disregarding the two dodges every class has, all classes except Necro do possess some manner of skill that negates damage rather than mitigates it. This means that even though they might have less health they can potentially tank an infinite amount of damage in the time frame where their iframes are active. Which is never the case of Necro.
Last, always stop dealing dmg to a Herald when he pops up Facet of “Your dmg heals me for the next 2 seconds”
This rule only counts for power users. Condi user actually should keep up the pressure. If the condi you apply lasts more then 4 seconds (which most do) you will do more damage then you actually heal. The only way this is not true is when the rev does not live longer then 2 seconds after the heal. However this is unlikely because condition users can’t stop the healing from their previous applied conditions. So if you are carefull with moves you use you can keep up the pressure.
As a herald main I’m actually coming to hate the glint heal. More and more players are aware of it and back of their attacks. I wish it was just a straight up heal for a larger amount rather than a conditional thing which can easily be countered with smart play.
Its still good for getting a free huge heal off DH traps, I suppose.
Anyway I don’t agree the herald is a damage facetank class. If I don’t dodge, evade, block, etc, I’m dead. Also, outside of stability on dodge, I’m easy to stunlock – and I often have to waste dodges just to get stability. Herald has very little passive defense other than the protection elite (which you can’t keep up without crippling your skill use), F2 (doesn’t last long), and dwarf elite (which nobody runs in PvP).

Why there’s still people that think that LF=HP?
First of all, it’s at last a damage mitigation, but now that there’s no more toughness in any good amulets a necro ca use, is really easy to strip away a necro fron it’s Shroud, expecially why in Shroud lose all the insignificant “defensive” sills he can use (at last can use spectral armor to obtain protection before enter the Shroud).
Then, the more defensive class in the game at the moment is the Full Block Guardian, that have 17k hp, 10k lesser than the necromancer. Add another 10k with no block/immunity/evase skills to use is more or less useless against an enemy that with a single sword skill can hit you for 14k (while totally invulnerable then unstoppable).
Frequently the revenants that I find and I kill are rev that think that I can inflict them huge damage with my conditions. But i Can’t inflict huge damage with conditions. The only combo to inflict damage is RS5+RS4, that is the easier combo to see and evade. They simply active the shield and I waste my only offensive combination. Then I need 1,5 sec to inflict 3 bleed and a poison, that is more or less 2400 damage over 6 seconds. That’s 400/sec of damage. If I use also the scepter skill 2 I can inflict you 4400 damage over 6 second (733/sec) using 2,25 second.
You in a single hit with the sword can inflict me 2k or more. more or less 14 with a single 3/4sec skill (sword 3).
Basicly, staff5+sword3 and the necromancer is dead.
I really don’t see the way a good revenant can lose against a necromancer. I tried and a necromancer is seriously a free kill for a revenant. So much immunity and block skills and CC that there’s no way for a necro to survive to a revenant.
I will try to use a MM build, but I will become more or less useless for my team, only to be able to fight a little better a single class that will ill me anyway.

If your Necro can’t beat a Rev, you should check your built, and try to learn how.
Meta Necro definitely has a advantage for Meta Rev at this time, unless of course the Rev simply plays much better than the necro. I am not going to tell you how, you should ask around in the Necro forum or do some research, the answer is obvious.

Hello Condi…
