The Ignorance
GW2 such esport such high level.

Find a group of friends that are willing to work around your disability rather than a group of strangers. Teams trying out now probably won’t even make it into the ToL, and even if they do, they’ll get crushed in the first round. I wouldn’t even associate myself with them if I were you :P so don’t take it too hard.
It’s amazing to me how ignorant people are when it comes to certain things.
Most of you failed to get it. I wasn’t even given a chance to try out just because I’m deaf. That fact alone was ignorance at its finest.
Thanks to those who came to my defense. But it’s no use arguing with ignorant and naive people.
4reals. Freaking nerds.
Have you considered the possibility that no-one wants you on their team because you’re a massive prat? Everyone who disagrees with you or doesn’t give you special consideration is ‘ignorant’ and it’s ‘no use arguing’ with them? Then don’t.
Your mother may have kicked up a stink with the school administration to make sure all the other children played with you when you were growing up, but you’re a big boy now.
As already mentioned, people aren’t excluding you because you’re deaf, they’re excluding you because you can’t use TS, but don’t let that stop you from playing the disabled card and acting like a victim.
It’s past time you were called on this ridiculous entitlement complex.

Ya, calling it ignorance was really bugging me too, this post screams entitlement :/
I used to play with a deaf player in another game, worked just fine. He had a speech to text program that displayed what we were saying in a window on his second screen which he could look over at. It flashed when new messages were up. He was a great player as it was even without teamspeak.
Personally I find that it makes your team look amazing when they can play well regardless of any personal handicaps they might have.
But this is just my opinion though. If the others teams requested that teamspeak was a must then those are their rules and it’s their option to follow them. Can’t do anything about it.
This… this seems like a great solution. OP, have you tried using something like this? It might be that little something to make TS communication possible. It would also help a lot if you could talk and relay your info to them without typing; I don’t think you mention if you can in any of your posts, but I understand that people who are born deaf can learn to speak. Sure, some teams might still reject you, but you’d have a much better shot with this to be accepted for tryouts and to make it into a team.
Gais gais u miss da point he play prefectly no people need tell him what do.

you say you can play without teamspeak but you are chatting with ppl who doesn’t believe you. why? because they can ear and can’t believe something can be done without the use ears. every day they log ts and don’t use any other way to comunicate so in their mind there’s no other option.
you say ignorance but the only way to “educate” ppl is to make them deaf. (i’m too dratic i know). do you want to “educate” all? you know you can’t do that you must act first so find a guild, a grp of players not using ts and have your fun.
PS: i never use ts and i think you can play without that with some practice and chatting about strategies before tourney.
^^
You also rarely if ever play teamq let alone against a good premade team using voice com so…..

I know of two really good players who don’t use a mic, and have played for great teams. but not using team comms at all? That’s just a ridiculous handicap, my advice is either form your own team or stick to soloque :/ Ranting on the forums helps no one and isn’t going to change your situation at all.

This game is not deep or advanced enough to have mandatory comms. If the team is fully aware of the roles and know how to read and respond to the map, the yelling, screaming and sometimes impulsive instructions may be a handicap. It’s so much better to play peacefully provided everyone knows what they’re doing. It also allows you to concentrate and think strategically.
In the case of the OP being deaf, I would probably give him the chance to try out because of the simple reason that when a person has a disability or weakened sense, expect one or two of the other senses to be abnormally superior i.e. better hand-eye coordination and so forth….

And I feel like every person so far that has said we don’t need voice comms can’t even make it out if the percentages. I’m kittening awful and I did it.

Except it is and you’re wrong, also nice tinfoil hat reasoning in the 2nd paragraph lol.
Anyone who says comms aren’t needed, hasn’t played at a high level.

It’s not truth the OP is looking for. It’s not even a discussion. He doesn’t want your unhelpful opinion. The condition for his favourable response is any post with:
1. Feeling sorry for his situation
2. Critique of the requirement for voice communication
3. Downplaying the high level competitive environment
4. Acknowledging the ignorance of those who are not sorry for you/being honest/require voice comm/competitive
There are some people here that have suggested looking into voice-to-text programmes. They have also told you to form your own team or look for other teams that will take you. Have you tried everything? Or have you been rejected once and stopped trying? Is this the Fox and the Grapes?
Maybe if you have a more open attitude instead of being defensive, people won’t respond with facts, but suggestions. The tone you take doesn’t spur sympathy or encourage a helping hand.

Based on this thread alone I would most likely not want to have you in my team anyway, since you seem to see conspiracies where there are none and refuse to accept that the world does not revolve around you.
If they want their team to be able to use TS during matches, they would not even bother spending time with people that can/won’t use TS in tryouts, simple as that.
I don’t have a mic (but I can hear) but I doubt I would be allowed to tryout due to the fact that I can communicate via VOIP.
