The Making of Teams
HI, I can’t seem to find anything on how to make an organized team. What do you look for when making a organized team? for example will having a tank guard/war in the middle to fend of the enemies while an ally condi engi just bleed and poison the enemies to death work? So basicly, what do you guys look for when making organized teams even if your just 2 in the party.
It’s pretty easy, just avoid include Mesmers, Necros and Rangers (unless you have no other options). Check out most of the higher tier teams in tournaments, certain classes are just not given the fair treatment by Anet.
Judging by some of the threads going on… You should make thief exclusive teams.
ideally you want minimum of 2 point holders, with the rest being dps. four zerker is possible, but very hard to pull off and i would say it necessitates a meditation guardian. starting with a healing shout warrior and a meditation guardian is a good idea as the two builds are super potent when combined, and provide a good support/dps base for the team.
avoid double ranger, mesmer and thief. ideally have people play their strongest class using a build that works well with the team. this is why having two mains is ideal, as you can switch without becoming a bad player (i can kill noone 1v1 on an ele for example).
looking at EU and NA tournaments for team comp ideas is good, especially EU as they are more creative.

actually medi guard + shoutbow is one of the worst 2v2 combos possible with current metabuilds

But other than classes, build wise makes the most difference, I wanted to know if someone can tell us a few tips on how to make teams where the classes and all their builds complement eachother, like one I just came up with, medi guard + power lb ranger; using preferbally ts, ranger shoots his knockback followed by burst but, just as he used his knockback the guard uses sword/meditation ability to teleport to opponent and then bursts (for example with gs 2# or sword 2#). While that is happening we have an thief roaming (will also have the job of intercepting enemies before they can attack a point) to “scout” the enemies directions aswell as to see if he could take/decap far if its open, and a turrent engi at close.
And to top it off we could have an tankish hambow in mid. And ofc the gaurd, ranger and thief must be asura and the war, engi a big char or norn( only usefull in unranked) :P
[Dont mind the last part to much]

didn’t say 2v2, and didn’t say shoutbow. the meditation guardian gets both 2k medis and 2k shouts making them a monster from my experience. i play valk shoutheal with hammer sw/sh, and the ability to stunlock someone so they have to eat the whole GS burst from medi is brutal. regardless, i was only suggesting them as a team base as shout warrior is great support for the team, and meditation guardian is a self sufficient zerker.
i’ve heard necro engineer is the best 2v2, but i don’t know any good necromancers so i’ve never had the pleasure.

It’s been the same since always. Some guys are tanky and stay on the node to contest(contributing in various ways) and some guys hit for big numbers.
Now the easiest comp to run and succeed is 2-3 celestial and 2 dps. It’s probably not ideal but it’s easy to pull off.
I would go for 1 shoutbow, 1 cele ele either d/d or staff, 1 thief, 1 dps guard, 1 engi either rabid or cele. You can replace the dps guard with mesmer or power ranger(or even power necro) but guard doesn’t require peeling from the enemy thief unlike the others. Likewise you can replace the engi with condi necro or condi ranger.
There are two main team compositions that seem to work at the moment: 2 bunkers and three roamers, or 3 semi-bunker and 2 roamers. The first composition would typically be 2 staff cleric elementalist, bunker guards, cleric rangers or whatever you like. The roamers must have a really strong burst to be able to end fights fast. mesmer/thief, dps guard/thief, double dps guards are three good trios, the last roamer being a bit more tanky maybe, like a necromancer (less mobile but good condi burst) or a celestial engineer (condi ranger or power ranger are also possible).
The second type of composition resembles what the Abjured played before they were defeated in the WTS: three celestial classes that are semi bunkers (d/d eles of shout bow warriors), and two roamers (often including a thief). You can have a more tankier, extremely good in 1v1/2v2 comp if you only take builds that are good in 1v1 (cele builds except shout bow, SD thief, necromancer), but you take the risk of being out rotated.
The professions and build you choose to have in your team don’t matter that much, as long as you remember what ROLES they have to play. If you want to play a mobile cleric bunker but all you find is a really good ranger, give it a try! As long as the communication is good and the composition is smart, it could work (though you probably won’t win the WTS).
