The PVP Since Last Update
This is absurd.
1) Did devs listened to the community in regards of ele changes/rework? No.
2) Im quite happy that bunker meta will have to go, but step by step – by ruining a class and removing it from pvp scene for 2-3 months is NOT a good “stepping”.
3) Expansion came out more then 8 months ago, not enough time to balance classes or atleast keep every class by being not totaly useless? I know a few games, that have had a new heroe coming out every 2-3 weeks and still the balance was quite on the level.
4) Our ele subsection of forums contains a lot of decent suggestions, did any of them got considered by devs? Not really.
And a quick question – What is your post all about? Are you considering that spvp is balanced or semibalanced at the moment? If there are a lot of posts about how unbalanced the game mode is atm, then it is a sign, dont you think? Do you really think that by creating such post all of players that are trying to say that spvp is not ok atm are going to stop writing or what?
Sometimes I really want Steam to take care of gw2, probably the would make it way better than ncsoft.
@OP There are people listening to us but they can only change amulets, runes, and sigils.
I’m tired to go through the forums and see crybabies everywhere …
So let me make this clear for you :
1) The developpers are LISTENING to playerbase and are TRYING to balance classes out.
Which means that from a season to another there will always be an “OP” class out there.
Balancing a competitive PVP game requires ALOT of time, dedication and testing.2) ANET is trying to step out from bunker / condi meta by removing the bunker abilities STEP BY STEP.
3) Don’t expect instant balance when an expansion comes out with 9 new elite specializations … It takes alot of time to make everything perfect.
4) JUST BE PATIENT AND POST [Suggestion] In your appropriate class forum .

balance does not mean break a thing to see how bad it will be then react to that – that’s called hacking. Balance means conducting impact analysis – for example what is the impact of removing the primary source of survivability from a class with the lowest health and toughness, with a main melee/dmg weapon forcing you to go close to other players and what is required to balance this loss out BEFORE we do it. I would guess pretty much any regular player of spvp can tell you that one.
in software terms there are well known patterns that are used for introducing change that go along the lines of introducing the new thing first ALONGSIDE the old thing -then you get to evaluate both side by side. Same thing applies to design abstractions.

I have no doubt of this but they consistently fail and it gets old.
Balancing a competitive PVP game requires ALOT of time, dedication and testing.
This is true even with relatively simple games but GW2 is still so complex that a team of probably 3-5 guys will never have a chance. Even if there were only 5 total amulets to choose from it would still be a tough job but with so many choices and no public testing I think they’ve given themselves a virtually impossible task.

ah, you mean valve software right ?
hmmm well dota 2, cs go did have incredible success as pvp games.

I feel you, OP. Most of the people who comes to these forums, though, are naturally loaded with unrest and distaste :P

1. They take far longer and do much poorer than every other MMO with a PvP facet of the game, MUCH LESS something like a MOBA that’s 99% PvP.
2. They may say they’re trying to get away from bunker and condi meta, but while they killed bunker ele they also killed 2 power specs in the process (power herald, staff thief), thus making condi MUCH MORE POWERFUL since now almost everyone has to run it if they wish to be competitive (standout exception is hammer scrapper) AND they got rid of the primary source of cleanses in PvP.
3. We haven’t been anywhere close to balance since HOT came out 10 months ago, and quite frankly they’ve been generally making it worse.
@OP
Get a clue and take off your optimism blinders.
1. The PvP team only controls PvP systems. The problems lie with profession design, which is a different team. That team has done next to nothing in the last 9 months to reign in out of control elite specs. Any changes they do make just crap on the profession as a whole, despite many better suggestions coming from the forums. That sounds like the opposite of listening and trying.
2. See #1. Removing amulets doesn’t fix the problem of elite specs having far too much sustain. Defensive amulets were fine for two years and now that HoT hits, they’re overpowered? Shaving profession abilities doesn’t work when they’re extremely out of whack.
3. It’s been 8 months since HoT released, and elite specs are still blatantly broken in PvP. It’s not like in the past where something was a little stronger. Huge balance gaps need to be fixed faster.
4. See #1 and #3. The problem is something the profession design team needs to fix. That team obviously doesn’t understand the problem, or doesn’t have the balls to nerf or overhaul the elite specs. In fact, toward the end of HoT beta, the “failed” elite specs like dragonhunter were just buffed to ridiculous levels instead of fixing the flawed design, which created a lot of the problems we have now.

1. No they aren’t. Ever since Season 2 sPvP has gone through a pretty solid downhill, I don’t play anymore and all I see when I swing about here and even test classes at times are negative outcomes on all areas, so no, they aren’t listening one bit to the community,.
2. By removing amulets and making it harder for some classes to get about in sPvP? – Once again, no.
3. Yeah so do we wait 4 more years and still hope for something that’s never going to arrive anyway?
4. Feels like every Suggestion post is flushed down amongst the rest, sounds more like the Spam-mail section of the forums.
Get real man and stop being a white knight for Anet.
It took them from 2011 (beta) to 2015 to have a good balanced with “celestial/cleric/soldier/sentinel” amulet.
To rekt that with HoT unbalanced skill scaling / unbalanced trait system.
