Hello everyone,

I want to talk about Stronghold here. Stronghold still got too much problems, to call it a real PvP Mode. It has good potential, but has just too much issues.

The Main issue that Stronghold got atm is, that defense is absolutely useless. You just push all the time, running a bit doorbreaker and you can’t do much about it. If you defend, the opponents will respawn too fast to actually get rewarded for defending their.

Main Issues in Stronghold:

- 15 Seconds respawntimer is really too low. You can just run in their base, getting killed and run into their base again and the opponent team can’t do much about it.
- You can channel the buff, with a random noob form like Rampage and Plague, that every Necro and Warrior got and get the buff just for free. You can’t cc them because they got 3 Stacks Stab every 3 seconds. Even if you manage to interupt their first channel with every boon rip and kitten. They will just channel again and get it. You can’t kill them either, because of double endure pain proc or perma blind + weakness in plague. Just stupid. Really.
- The map is really small. You can run through in just a few seconds.
- Once the last door is open the lord doesn’t regenerate. Here same issue as always. Offense >>>>>>> Defense. You just go in with just 1 guy. Getting killed, respawn go in again and you can’t defend the lord because he stays at his crappy life pool.
- You can’t upheal doorbreakers or defender NPC’s right. They just getting rekked by one person that stealthes a few times vs 5 People.
- The Matches atm are all the same. Everyone just kill the doorbreakers and the match will expand to 15 mins. After that the team won who got the warrior or the necro that channels the buff. Because that gives you really good points and that team, wins every game. Who is the fastest on the buff wins.

My Solutions for this problems:

- Copy the GW1 GvG Mode. It was the best mode ever in the game and EVERYONE would like it. But I know you will not do that, so here my real solutions:

- When you are in rampage or plague, make the buff unable to channel like in stealth or invul. Or make the buff like the one in temple. Everytime you get hit, you get interupted.
- When the last door is open and you manage to defend your lord from your opponents completely. Let it restart from 100% again.
- Expand the map and give it paths to split and paths to teamfight at.
- Give every NPC a buff that gives them extra 500% Healing from players or something like that. When you heal an NPC for 2k heal and he facetanks a mirror blade spike for 15k every 9 seconds, it’s not really something you can hold. I mean you make a game where the holy trinity doesn’t exist and you are forced to block/invul or dodge damage, but npc’s just stays their like, “what is dodging, or blocking?”, THAT CAN’T WORK. The NPC’s are just useless, you could throw them out of stronghold and nobody would care. Or let them respawn every now and then. But this is just kitten.
- Points for defeting NPC’s. If you would get Points for defending enemy npc’s it would be much more profitable to defend your base and the team are not just spaming doorbreakers over the map, the whole game.

- SPLIT IT TO COMPETITIVE AND CASUAL. We have Unranked and Ranked. Why not use that to actually get a good PvP mode? If you will do Unranked just for solo players, you can adjust the timer on 15 mins and let them just play a yolo mode like now. Do Ranked only allow to a 5 player team. So the Playerbase will split and you can play the mode you like. The Team mode should need more time (competitive player likes, when the game needs more time (Best example moba games or Gw1 PVP!!!!). 28 Mins was really great and gives you more opportunities to get tactical.
- Give us a /gameend for EVERY game. When 5 player are in a game. It isn’t good and every player sucks, and you get the feeling this isn’t worth my time and you just want to throw this game out of your window, then it would be great, really great, when every player can accept their lose and when EVERY Player of your team accepts with you and want to end it aswell, then it should end NOW and not just when the timer runs out or the other team will need to crush you even more. That are the moments when every GW2 player wants to leave this game. And a /gameend with 5 player would fix this problem.

I would be so happy and proud, if some of this would actually get fixed. I loved GW1, it was one of the best Games for PvP (except for the fact that their was no e-sports love or something like that) and I love GW2 aswell. But I would call GW2 a better game, if it would just have the same PvP mode like in GW1.

If you get interrupted in Plague Form, you will have to exit the transform in order to activate another “F”.

Only Rampage can perform all actions for the whole duration, for some reason.

Stronghold is much better now than it was on the initial release beta.

The biggest problem though with Stronghold, isn’t really about the Stronghold match type. The biggest problem is that we need a save/load build template panel for all of these different match types. Given preferable builds used vary drastically depending on if you are Conquest, Death Match or Stronghold. It would excellent to be able to load up your Stronghold build archetype when playing Stronghold in a matter of seconds and then do the same thing when loading Legacy Of Foefire in the next match.

~ A save/load build template panel is long overdue in Guild Wars 2

It is, but things were much easier in Guild Wars 1 when you could just load a saved build and go.

I think honestly we only need to wait.

Now is all random, no meta, no tactics defined, no 3 years of experience on a game mode.

Did you remember conquest at beginning? And Stronghold is imho more complicated, more objectives, more stuff to do.

There will be a lot of new things with HoT, dedicated healer and other stuff, so I think it needs some times to understand really if there is some major issue

Maybe with HoT you will find the issue guards can’t die because druid e ventari heal too much and stuff like that and there will be new counter tactics.

Sounds like you’re just playing with bad players. I don’t have any of these problems other than stability channel.

Conquest is still a much better format for competition. Stronghold is supposed to attract new PvPers.

My main issue is that defense is too strong. I can’t do anything to a player that ganks the skritts before they die.

What are you talking about? I can’t reach from spawn to lord’s room in a few seconds.

Get a shoutbow, make them drop a res banner to waste all that effort the enemy team made to get the lord into downed state.

Sure, but wouldn’t that make defense even more useless?

Then there is me, he runs straight to mid and spawn more skritts. Also, I run to the treb and treb the enemies at the defense lane.

That depends on how much you’re changing. If you’re swapping runes and sigils and traits and weapons you could easily forget something in the process or maybe even run out of time if you forgot what exactly you normally use.

And players could physically go to their banks to deposit materials. Sometimes QoL changes make things better. In this case, it would make doing seperate gamemodes with different builds easier to do.
