All true and has been said many times. A-net doesn’t seem to care. Its been almost 8 weeks since the last season ended and no idea when the next one will be. Plus the next season will probably suck anyway because they aren’t addressing many of the concerns. Its almost laughable.

I dont think people understand that thief is in a very odd position, If their evades get nerfed in any way the whole class suffers. All it took to force thief into the dumpster before HoT released was the re design of feline grace which prevented enough endurance regen. At the same time thief as it is right now looks a bit much in some match ups. Rev already has multiple ways it can be countered and at the same time is a full counter against some builds.

The way the game is i dont see how they can prevent stacking in solo q. All that will accomplish is skyrocket queue times especially if they factor in player skill level by MMR or whatever shortsighted metric they use these days.

Its a complete lose lose situation that can only be solved if they simplify certain things like stats:
healing power should not exist, they should just normalize healing values without it

Condition damage doesnt need its own stat, just tie conditions with weapons only and have the damage only be increased through traits and might or the damage type on weapons be swapped from power to condi through traits. Easier to control the damage.

Vulnerability doesnt need to be a stackable condition, just turn it into a debuff with a fixed value

Retaliation should go or act as a rare (non boon) buff with a limited duration

With thieves i would just redesign the class. The whole thing with its either you hit me and I die or you dont hit me at all is pretty foolish even if some classes can deal with it.

With DH, traps their damage potential would have to be moved to spirit weapons, because they are weapons.

Toughness is unecessary, all that damage reduction should be put on utilities and weapons like certain shield skills greatly reducing damage taken for a duration in addition to blocking skills.

Cooldown traits removed and cooldowns normalized

Utilities that only work with certain weapons to avoid game breaking combos and help weaker weapons like necro’s gs. I could go on for days

All their balance issues are because of how complicated they designed the damage dealing and mitigation system. Its their own game, they can do what they want. Its just going to be yet another MMORPG fail in the end if thats what they want. We’ll just move on

Where do we find better pvp then? Wildstar was fun and had nice pvp and feelt like it had some good balance, the games pvp is pretty much dead now, low level bg doesn’t even pop, high level bg 40-50mins q.

I think anet should make a capture flag/ or capture something like bg game mode that don’t take as much tactic/and or brain power for solo players while still fun to play and not enough to run in your base with the stolen stuff, you have to activate it on your base, which takes lets say 5seconds so enemy players still have 5 seconds to interrupt you getting points for your team.

That conquest mode doesn’t really work good with solo players as it require a lot of thinking and tactics which works in organized team. but if you get grouped with peoples don’t care about cap points, don’t defend, cant rotate, doing stupid things, fighting outside, don’t help teammates, alt+f4 the game when getting stomped. etc. you will fail because you have to rely on other 4 players. especially if you are playing necromancer then you very heavily have to rely on 4 randoms as you can’t survive in group with bad players.

With my idea also necromancer loses a bit of “all time focus the necro” as it wont be good in its current state holding the stuff on the way from enemy base to ally base and enemy have to take care of the player running back to base with the stuff while necromancers can do their job a bit better.

Maybe us necromancers get more healers and help from players in that capture something game mode if we are running back to base with stolen stuff as its not hard to find out people have to heal and support to keep alive the guy running back to base with the stuff!!!

Conquest not ideal for solo play as its full of selfish solo players, bad teamplayers that just used to solo hero hard trying alone or brainless zerg even if they cant kill anyone they keep hard trying dont even try to change something they don’t see if something doesn’t work try do something else.

Competitive solo games rare as white raven, I stomp enemy whole game or enemy stomp me whole game up to how good teammates i get and get support when required or only i care about defend points we have so enemy can stomp me 2-3v1 while teammates die at far or cant kill 2-3guy as 4 so 2-3 enemy players stomp me and we lose cap. etc.

This guy…you missed the mark I wasn’t complaining about the classes evades in general. I was complaining about damage abilities that include evade frames. I just happened to use classes in general that are commonly known for having these type of evading damage abilities in their kit as examples.

If you took away distortion from Mesmer…no one would PvP as Mesmer. In my opinion something that needs to be looked at for Mesmer would be Continuum Split.

Dragonhunters Shield of Courage can be comparatively as broken as damage abilities with evade frames. Seeing as how they can use Shield of Courage and then Renewed Focus to be able to cast another Shield of Courage. If anything Shield of Courage needs to be looked at or changes need to be made like making it amount of hits blocked till shield is broken, instead of infinite blocks till duration is done. Why? In my opinion it is because, Dragonhunter can attack while Shield of Courage is up. It is just as much of an offender as damage abilities with evade frames.

In my opinion having damage mitigation that scales with enemies, while also being able to attack at the same time is incredibly broken. If we promote and continue down this path. We will end up in a PvP where no one takes damage while attacking and people only die when they have no cooldowns.

Everyone complain about this games pvp. People complain about dh, warrior, mesmer,druid,rev,engi, matchmaking, class stacking,block, invu, evade etc.

I complain about necro being weak in solo q if not getting good teammates and also weak in 1v1. Require a lot of skill from players side, luck and outplay to win any 1v1

You die or they run away/come back and outlast you with fight reset+burst as necro offensive/defensive cd’s are not ready as fast to survive fight resets. + probably lost all or almost all LF in the first fight.

There are many games with competitive and succesful pvp scenes. You just shouldnt be playing an mmorpg and expecting some amazing pvp experience.

Gww did have a chance to break this trend but a lack of features at release and some terrible design choices in the last 18 months killed it. This game is a spamfest as someone else said. It is way past the point of no return, nothing they could do now is fix it. Time to move on honestly, in fact that time was a year ago.

theend.2137 is correct. GW2 PvP is a disaster, both from class design and from matchmaking. The design at least worked before HoT because no single build could excel at most aspects of PvP (damage, survival, etc).

Move on to what? Which game?

If you want competitive PvP, don’t look to MMOs. MMOs always design for PvE first, since that’s where they get most of their audience. As a result, PvE power creep and bloat, and overall design burdens PvP design.

If you’re looking for something class-based, Overwatch or a MOBA is the closest you’re going to get.

In point of fact, ANET just fixed a bug that was giving Guardian too much shield. I think they have all there people on the next expac or something.

A game that is designed as a PvP game first and foremost, like a MOBA. SMITE, Overwatch, Paladins, etc. There’s plenty of PvP focused games to play out there.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to play GW2 if what they’re after is PvP. If someone wants a decent PvE MMORPG, then I’d recommend GW2, but I just can’t recommend it at all for PvP. GW2 tries to be a jack-of-all trades and the PvP is bad as a result of it.

the real problem of pvp is the completely lack of build diversity . Every build not meta ( or really similar ) is suboptimal and not viable … or at least viable ( you can win matches but only outplaying your opponents, at the same skill level, without meta you lose )
