The basic problem is trying to accurately determine your individual skill from the performances of the random teams you are placed on. Especially when there are 4×5s and teammates who quit 4 mins into a match.

You have a 44% change to be 4v5 and a 56% chance to be 5v4.
Are there any people here with a statistics education who have an opinion about how many matches it could take before the leaderboard reflected your actual skill relative to other people?

if you stay in a certain range for like 20 games after playing 100 games then that is enough to let you know where you stand atm, the range being ~100 rank spread.
The main problem is there is no incentive for most people to play because the majority of the gw2 pop is scared of pvp, or really wants gold, or is fed up with anet having 1-2 devs on all of pvp so they just pve now or have quit. So the leaderboards arnt a measure of much when probably less than 500 people play it actively in NA.

Unfortunately my visual processing/ inner ear system has trouble with first-person shooters.
A simple MMR system, which updates at the end of the match, showing you, your team and your enemy’s MMR and then your increase/decrease would do wonders for this game.

that’s a lot to ask for, most likely they will break 10 other things trying to do it.
Weren’t MMR systems designed for 1 on 1 individual games, like chess, where your performance is the only variable?
