I’ve realized(and others probably have as well) an extremely simple solution to this general concern that affects sPvP, as well as a few other aspects of the game, and it’s community in a positive way. Remove the account bind on crafted Unidentified Dyes.

It’s not on the dye once you identify it, so it’s possible to sell the dye’s you craft once you have identified them, however you cannot sell them in their unidentified form which would sell for much more than the individual dyes themselves, though not enough as to negate the necessity of farming glory for a reasonable amount of time to fund the crafting if you were able to sell them in their unidentified form.

I know earning in game gold isn’t really at the forefront of sPvP concerns right now but I also know a lot of people care about making gold while dedicating themselves to s/tPvP.

Although some people have hundreds of thousands of glory racked up most people don’t. The amount of time it takes to get that much glory for the average player equates to a lot of play time, and if we could simply sell the Unidentified Dyes on the auction house I know a lot of people would use that glory, and then be in hotjoins and tournaments within 20 minutes of removing the account bind. People who spend a fraction of the time they used to spend in those hotjoins and tournaments, if they go into hotjoins at all anymore. More people would begin caring about winning those tournaments for the glory bonuses. More people would be in hotjoins becuase that’s easier and quicker. Maybe not the top elites but I know I would be in hotjoins and tournaments more. Once that initial surplus of glory most of us have is gone those who are interested in making gold from spvp will continue to be in there.

TL;DR

Selling Unidentified Dyes on the auction house(not just the dyes once they are identified) is an easy way to implement a source of income in sPvP that promotes activity in the general public areas of sPvP(i.e. Hotjoins) as well as tournaments which in turn promotes gem conversions, trading post activity, and other facets of the game.

Please remove the account bind on Unidentified Dyes. You can sell them once they are identified and the average price of Unidentified Dyes, which will dip, isn’t so much as to substantially mess up the economy in general, so why not?

If you are that upset at GW2 then you just look like an idiot for sticking around. -Bongwizard Slubs

I like this idea.

Dyes are prevalent in both pve and pvp, and earning income to purchase dyes off of the trading post is downright annoying if you don’t want to step foot in pve land, which I don’t.

Why do ‘dedicated’ tpvpers need gold?

if you want to have 13 slots like i do and get the skins they add on events you need gold=gems to buy them.

That’s all PvE stuff.

Why on earth would you need 13? I whipped out my card to buy up to 8 slots. That gives me one of each class in my stable.

Point is, none of that is something a pvper needs to compete. Keep pvp and pve/wvw seperate.

Come on dude – whats your angle?
PvPer wants to enjoi other parts of the game with friends but cant spend time farming dungeons to get some decent gear etc.
Slots are needed becaus pvpers play more classes than average PvE players becaus its easier in the mists.
WvW is a pvp game – why cant ppl playing spvp enyoi this part of the game to? We cant show our skills to noob zergs becaus they outgear us hard.
If u dont have any valid point to state that pve and pvp should be totally separate dont be a “gardener’s dog” and dont ruin other players experience.
And the check skins are only PvE stuff? Do they unlock dungeons? Do they give u some stats? Come on…

And people thinking like you are sadly one of the reason why the sPvP communty will stay really small.

If you want more sPvP population, you need more thing to attract player.

PVE items/gold is one way to do it.

Not everyone is a hardcore tPvP player. Not everyone only play tPvP.

I do both paid tPvP and WvW, and when I’m tPvPing I feel like I’m lacking any kind of reward, while in WvW I get random loots and gold for my effort.

Braxx mad. He can’t prove his worth in PvP cause Thieves are too “OP” for him. That’s why he wants PvP to be separate from easy mode, aka WvW and PvE.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

lol… I don’t agree with Braxx opinion – but this kind of statement you just made is exactly what he’s talking about with regards to “pvp elitists”. Two ends of the extreme here haha.

I didnt’ know you could craft unidentified dyes either O.o

He’s from Yak’s Bend. That server has the worst players in the game……. Every time I end up grouping with someone from Yak’s Bend in PvE I have to exercise a lot of patience to not rage quit because they play at such a poor level. I grouped with an Ele recently Yat Yat that probaby can’t even tie his own shoes let alone play the game properly. And this is in PvE for crying out loud.

Could you stop quoting me and editing it to make me look like a jerk? Its very rude and immature.

Btw where did this 2k word rage post of yours go(I wont post the whole thing yet, its a lot to take in):

And there is my angle: Keep up with your “pvper” elitism, all high and mighty. I do wuvwuv AND free tourney spvp.

Oh it looks like you edited out your rage, that’s sad that you feel the need to manipulate people’s perspective to get them on your side. Did someone make fun of you on the forums and quote/edit you? Why do you feel the need to take it out on me, child?

Should I re-post your entire rage-essay? Why are you so upset over the idea that we should be able to sell unidentified dyes?

VVV on topic VVV
Also to answer your question and stay on topic: The reason that spvp’ers need gold is because we like to have dyes on our characters, dont want to delete the ones that have 20+ gold put into them so we want to buy character slots, and we would like access to the cheap novelty items in the gem shop without having to give them $10 out of our pockets when all of our PvE friends are just forking over a portion of the gold they made in a week.

Please excuse my intense run-on sentence lol.

I’m not editing anything. I’m highlighting what’s important. I’m not making you look like a jerk, you’re doing that on your own because you’re a jerk. It’s that simple. You believe yourself to be better than anyone that doesn’t fit precisely into your little box and participates in areas of the game that YOU don’t enjoy.

Btw where did this 2k word rage post of yours go(I wont post the whole thing yet, its a lot to take in):

I never made a 2k word rage post, and the only things that have been deleted were by the mods because they were responses to the posts of your that got deleted for being rude and condescending towards other players.

Feel free to re-post anything you wish, I have removed none of my posts so you may flood the forums with redundant info all you like. Either way I’m going to keep calling you out on any of your comments which are rude and insulting.
