I haven’t actually seen an incredible thief. Then again, I haven’t played with many. I know they’re out there!! Azazell is pretty good though. I play with him daily. Anvil Rock.

These players ariel mentioned are only NA players i think, as i play in EU and didn’t heard about them before.. As for EU the best one in my opinion is Lowell, he made a great guide on guildwars2guru.com page about how to play thief, various builds and tactics, and he is also streaming sometimes on twitch. I’m learning from him still..

Well at least in my mmr tourny “bracket” blackrabbit seems to be the best iv played. He makes theif class usefull by keeping all flags capped or contested while playing against him.

I would say Kirei. But actually thieves are just as good as the team that suppports them. Same with every other player.

You really can’t pull up a vid from October and say that someone is the best thief right now…If he were to try to use that build right now, i bet he wouldn’t get very far.

Thieves were MUCH stronger then than now…esp with dagger offhand. That was before the 50% dmg nerf to dancing daggers + 15%(or more?) to c+d? Those were true instabbing days where sin signet did 50% more dmg on the backstab.

Plus, people play with stunbreakers now and all sorts of ccs. Pvp has evolved since October for sure.

Same goes for every class. The best players are the ones who don’t glorify themselves and think they are unbeatable.

You know it’s funny if you look at the trend in view count with these uploads -view counts around 30k on every pvp video during beta weekends (the peek of gw2 hype), < 2k on wvw vid from beta, as soon as game releases, view count for spvp vids drops to 1-4k. This is a good reference to highlight the fact that the games original population on/before release was predominately sPvP players (around 75% based on other calculations i’ve been working out with google analytics), I find it strange that anet ended up putting the least amount focus/effort/resources into what was originally the majority player demographic of their game.

tldr: The original sPvP population dwarfed the original pve population by a margin of around 4:1 (based on my own calculations/trends). The trend in these uploads helps to solidify that claim.

none of these guys are extremelygood I could easily beat all of them on my thief and im not that good. I agree that the best players aren’t the ones postin videos of their “amazingness” all over

Jumper and caed are easily in the top 5 thieves that I’ve ever played against. To say they’re not extremely good at their class just shows how full of it you are. Both are as knowledgeable about teef as you can get. RIP Jumper, rank 1 hotjoin hero NA

First of all, I didn’t post the video, I only responded to you. I never even watched the video, just played against the two players.

A very good thief is easy to spot. I’ve played with and against them both and they’re two of the best. Watching a single video of a stream is a terrible indicator of skill as skill fluctuates greatly from game to game, day to day and hotjoin to tourney.

There is not a single respected member of the pvp community who will say otherwise. I would take a 50g bet that both would wipe the floor with your thief. I have no idea who you even are…

ik u didn’t post the video I was kinda talking to you and the poster. and I will agree that a single video does NOT show the full extent of anybodys skill. and why the heck would u know who I am im only rank 32 and most definitely not one of the best players around. i think

On an honest note, the best thief is currently Vanish.

Nobody knows who the best is. There is no way to prove it and if anyone thinks someone is the best thief that’s purely an opinion which is inevitably based on incomplete information. Fine to have an opinion but stating at as fact is ignorant tbh.

True, nobody knows who ‘the best’ is. But people do know who some of the top thiefs definitely are.

Leaderboards wont help.

Play in a regular guild team all on ts? Be highest.
Playing is a loose group of people? Next highest.
Play with dudes from map chat? Next highest.
Solo Queue alot? Lowest.

the best thief is suldaris; i saw him playing, carrying his team. doing right engages and disengages , stealing bosses , turning the tides, oneshotting the right dangerous targets and he has great teamability.

Vanish >; kirei, easily.

Kirei is mechanically around the same level as vanish, sure. But vanish is smart as hell, calls every single time he goes on a target, switches target, immobilizes, uses basilisk, right before he is going to burst and he follows orders well. Kirei doesnt return to close to help vs the ele because he is busy 1v1ing a necro without saying a word.

I’ve been watching Seba Z since beta. I sent him a message about a week ago asking for more vids He said he is waiting on pvp changes.

I’ve played with some good 3 second kill thieves before, but don’t remember there names. I would say you would have to probably categorize the best thief like best d/d s/p, etc.

*I would really like to see a video, that’s nice and slow and explains and shows how to get someone down in 3-5 seconds. *

Another video I would like to see is one of a thief defending a cap against a ranger, making sure he cant neutralize the cap.
