Since the patch of 26th june, Necro and Spirit Ranger cause OPness and havok.
Many vets are done with GW2 and CORE team are in disarray and mayhem.
The noob, the PUG and all those feeding CORE team are now gone to Soloq. Good riddance but the rippling effect, mix with the devastating patch of June is simply too hard for our community to handle.
Now tonight, we face the same dominating team 4 times in a row. To get rid of that unpleasant evening, my team simply call the night off. Less team to play against, mean that kind of kitten more often… and we are already fed up.
At the same time, we have DOTA2 that got millions of people playing and hundred of millions watching at TV the games. (yeah! Literally… TV shows of gamers playing DOTA 2) Another great Esport, that is free to PVP all your heart. That have a great matchmaking, because they have the critical mass to do so.
Actually, it’s even bigger. They raise the cap to 3 millions dollars for 1 tournament. So, how long before the pro look at a mere 10 000 and dreams of millions?
GW2 should give for free the sPVP section of the game. That way, they can sell more boxes for those who like sPVP enough. Is it so hard to sell things in the shop that goes to the tournament reward like all MOBA do? Please Anet, continue the fight, the community of your TPVP TEAM is dying in front of you….

Dota 2 is kitten sexy! Much better than Gw2 and sadly enough gw2 isn’t changing anytime soon..

They pretty much have to reset current rating otherwise team que will be a no mans land. Then we will have the same problems we had before ratings.

GW2 is no MOBA and never will be and im happy about
its an mmorpg playerbase in a game (pvp) with moba devs dont know anything bout mmorpg pvp^^

Devs did everything to make it impossible to enjoy and have as little bond to MMos as possible. And to make it the total opposite of GW1.
Yeah I guess moba would be the perfect way how they could make it worse.

The problem right now isn’t about “balance”, teams will run whatever comp is strong or they will try to run a counter build to the meta (or they’ll just run twenty spirit rangers).
The problem is that there is no incentive to run TeamQ. I gain barely anything more from it than I do from SoloQ, and both produce less than HotJoins. There is no name recognition (team roster go go), nor is there some unique reward (legendary shards/zkeys, go go). The majority of the player base before and/or after the patch were SoloQ players and now they at least have an environment in which to play without too much worry of random premades farming them and feeling “superior”.
What we’re missing, simply, is that little bit of an extra, unique incentive to take the step up to forming, organizing, and running a team for TeamQ. Rewards or automated tournaments, either, will do the job. It just doesn’t exist at the moment.
I mean, hell, here’s a quick patch:
Winning TeamQ rewards you a TeamQ Reward Chest which contains a chance at minis, rare skins (the new ones), or such.
DOTA is also a much less complex game with a decade of past experience to pull from. That’s not to say this game is perfect (lol, it isn’t even close), but if you’re going to compare it to a game at least try to fit it into the same genre.

DotA 2 has classes that are pure passive and auto attack to win yet somehow feel more fair than rangers.
the DotA 2 classes are designed to have an advantage over some, and a disadvantage over others. They are balanced on the principle of “win, 50/50, shouldn’t win”. Guild Wars 2 is balanced on the principle of “your skill, strategy, terrain + build = win, 50/50, shouldn’t win”. DotA 2 is an arena game. There is only ONE MAP. that ONE MAkitten maller then Lions Arch (map).
This makes balancing a whole lot easier. The pathing in dota is also extremely restricted, thus mobility classes are entirely different from GW2.
The reason the “pure passive” in dota is more “fair” then rangers. Is because unlike rangers, they were designed to be passive. Rangers just have no viable builds for aggressive direct damage in PvP. The current meta screw’d rangers over, just as much as anyone else.

There’s only one gamemode to play, and 3 formats try to live on it. No wonder that numbers are shrinking and team arena/solo arena operates with low-pop.

The lack of a healing class was indeed a huge blow to balance, and the inclusion of such would have drastically limited the damage the latter two reasons could have possibly done. The fact that they added a class that actually uses some sort of energy system (with built in options to help replenish it) while ignoring cooldowns ran this askew even more, because it’s basically a violation of the rules within the game’s design. The removal of the holy trinity seemed more like a marketing ploy; GW2 would have been just as successful upon launch if they had kept everything combat-wise the same but included a healing class so that the other professions could be properly organized and balanced out.
Personally, I would have been ok with having a selection of skills linked to a weapon, that you could combine in any way you chose. This would have possibly opened up different weapons for multiple styles of play from the get-go. It would also have allowed for the trait system to be much more about point investment with a few bonuses rather than a second library full of skills, with most of them being completely inferior.

I had this discussion on these forums a few months ago sadly anet has no common sense and went with the guys that said don’t nerf me bro because 1. they had a big name “lol what a joke” and 2 because were more players opposing balance so now every player and the game suffers for it.
I get into a lot of discussions on these forums and am almost always combated by much larger groups the thing to remember in this is that the intelligent people are almost never the majority.
Now we are in a place where everyone is coming the the realization I had months ago because they can see what it has become. Sadly with the addition of torment there is no fast fix and it will take months to re-balance properly.

There are healers in this game they just use hots apart from guard who has direct heals. Ele might as well but i don’t play ele so i can’t be sure.
Your connection between the two makes no sense. What is more likely is we don’t have other game modes because each requires a heavy investment in map design with the specific content in mind cap the flag and death match for instance would require larger more open maps with trap rotations and some sort of nuke button/buttons for primary/secondary focal points.
Edit: It blows my mind that you think game modes are the problem when combat is what it is in group environments. Like I said we need more aoe lol (…sigh I give up).
