this is my 2 cents and i know theres a expansion coming out and all these changes but just something i feel needs to be said as frustrated player. Theres nothing wrong with the builds design or the traits. There is something wrong with the goals for players.

There is nothing bringing people back and keeping them in the game. Getting to dragon rank is now easy, getting champion titles is easy, and after that there is nothing left. The state of pvp is drowning with daily reward earners and then taking off to do what ever. Adding new maps and build scenarios wont change the problem of after a few months of doing pvp theres no reason to stay other then its fun, complex and competitive.

People have suggested new game modes such as capture the flag, new maps for dm and thats great. I know outside sources are doing a great job with weekly tourneys but you have to make it available for those who either dont know alot of people or not willing to try and get 5 people who have the time to practice and the same time.

IMO there needs to be daily in game tourneys and instead of the ladder maybe leagues. Also upgrading the hotm area, the wall of champions still has who on them?

Ultimately with the time off of no new content i see the pvp area as a area full of afkers yaking over nothing with many not having anything to do with the hotm being completely neglected. I hope the expansion works wonders but as of now im wondering whats going to become of the pvp future.

I think you answered your own problem. The point of a video game is the joy you get while playing it. If you really need some obscure achievment to work towards then maybe take a break and wait for new content. GW will still be here when you get the itch.

Not having a goal gets boring rather quickly.

HAHAHA i have thought about it but i know myself and i really enjoyed this game for a long time. The thing is if i start another game i probably wont come back to this game for like 2-3 years. In gw1 i was death leveling to get to 20 in pre and i killed the joy in the game and i didnt come back to gw1 till after i saw they announced gw2.

Im really hoping they announce something cause as you guys pointed out people leave and come back all the time which in my opinion kills the community a little bit.

I’d love to have a solid goal system in Guild Wars pvp. Coming from competitive WoW pvp, in Guild Wars 2 I’m barely ever in the mood to daily pvp one single game.

I mostly dislike the 5 player team model. Unless you are full premade, which I don’t know enough people to do consistently and actually enjoy it, you can’t control who you pvp with.
If one player leaves or is afk, it’s basically over for your team, because you can’t pick your team and you’re forced to play with randoms, sometimes new players joining pvp and go for ranked at level 2 with professions they haven’t played before, and so on… A lot of stuff is wrong at a core level in GW pvp imo. Which I can elaborate and discuss in depth, they can be improved with some work.

5 player arenas are not a sweet spot in my opinion, this is not a MOBA. Either give 10v10 player maps, or let us go duo/trio with tightly controlled teams. Or both.
Give us a clear position in the rankings.
Give PVP only rewards that mean something and only dedicated players can get. (you know…incentive to pvp long-term).

Also, there is no impact on playing ranked or unranked, at least none that can be seen ingame. Heard of a leaderboard but I’ve never actually seen it.

This game tries to cater to a “casual” type of player, but truth is, the game isn’t casual, it’s rather boring and without depth. The thing I still love about it is the combat, and that seems to be staying that way. I play a couple of hours after work each day, and after not even 2 months, I’m bored.

There is such a thing as TOO casual aparently.

If you’re having trouble making a 5man team then 10 might be a bit ambitious, also the game is balanced around 5.

More enticing PvP rewards or goals would be welcome though.

Stronghold has potential, but class balance/build diversity is currently a major sticking point.

It is good that they are developing stronghold as something that has a lot of depth, with many different splits and strategies. Conquest has less complexity in that regard, and quickly gets stale.

Build diversity is the other problem. Too many classes are pigeon-holed into clearly-best builds, with other builds suffering such high drop-offs that they aren’t really viable. There is basically 1 good build for each class, and then 1 or 2 decent (but clearly worse) builds that don’t offer a strong strategic shift. They also try way too hard to force classes to be an alpha-predator for certain roles. Thief kills a lot of diversity because nobody can ever compete with its mobility, stealth, burst with no tell, and control. Any other kind of dps-roamer build is a strict downgrade…thus why teams without thieves are always worse. Builds like shoutbow, cele engie, cele ele, and maybe even medi-guard are a problem too, as they make other bruisers irrelevant given how powerful their sustain is in regards to the damage/support they provide. It is o.k. if you want to allow other classes to have weaknesses in comparison to the “top” builds, as long as they are also superior in some way. Hopefully specializations will change this….

That’s not the issue, the issue is that at 5 players if one leaves or is AFK you’re done for, unless you can steamroll the other team with 4 players.
At 10 players, if one or two leave, you can still keep up you momentum, because the impact is lessened.

I get it’s a lot of work for 10 man pvp, but it would be fun to have in the long term and we could have bigger maps with different objectives.

I disagree with the 5 vs 5 being the problem, this is the most fun ive had in pvp matches across all the mmos i have played. Also i dont know how many games you have played but the afk and player leaving thing for me is like 1-2 matches a day out of 10-15 so i dont find that to be a big deal either. Also the 10 vs 10 there is a platform to do 10 vs 10 and its in WvW so all you got to do is transfer to a server thats tier 2-3.

I agree that there is a certain type of builds people play because its the meta but you see the elite players making so called not meta builds super op but thats just cause there that much better. I would appreciate them limiting people to 1 burst of fire and air and not both.

We NEED more pvp maps. playing 100.000 matches of conquest 5v5 is getting boring. Also the ‘not so hot join’ only has 10v10 for ‘rankfarm follow rules or kicked’.

2 things that seriously annoy me
