Hi guys lately I have been reading the forums and seeing a lot of statements with out any actually proof. So I was wondering if anyone would be willing/able to do the math of the dps output of current meta builds for each class?

its simple.

Meta build calculations is as following:
Maximum performance output > minimum performance input

Edit:
To dumb it down – Just find a way to deal damage without actually having to INVEST into dealing damage.

Lv 80 Guard, Ranger, Ele, Thief, warr, engi
Currently @ some T1 server in EU

Too much stuff going on here…cause you also need to count might stacks, how fast can you build it (Also sonsidering other specs in your comp, like fighting with a bunker guard in tf or being alone on side for example)

Dps aswell as cond dmg output can change drastically from one situation to another, stats alone don’t prove that much cause if you look at 2 warriors one with zerk amulet and the other with soldier you may think zerk one is gonna have way more dps than soldier…in the real world soldier has intelligence signet and if you use it the right way dps is not gonna be that lower…if soldier hambow is fighting near bunker guard he’s probably gonna deal more damage than a zerk one 1v1 on side..and even in a 1v1 situation soldier will last longer than zerk so total damage output would probably be higher anyway with lower dps ofc

And keep in mind that in this meta survivability and sustain is WAY more important than dps…winner is gonna be the one who can last longer not the one who can deal more damage..

Yes yes thats how it is in all games though it would be nice to some some acutally calculations for: Dp thief, Hambow, DD celestial ele, Condi nade engi, Shatter mesmer, lb zerker ranger, Med guard, and Condi Necro.

LB zerk ranger is NOT a meta build. It is a FOTM build. Meaning it is the preferred build of choice for the uneducated and unrefined.

I dont think that Laaw is an uneducated and unrefined player..He played a LB zerk Ranger in ESL match. I know that he agrees too that its not a solid build but still its not totally garbage as you believe..

Anyway at OPs question my personal opinion is that there is not a math behind meta builds cause right now there is not meta as we know it in other games..
GW2 pvp has a small pvp community compared to other esports games as LoL, Dota2 etc..
Also there are not enough tournaments.
So i believe that there are things that work and noone had discovered em yet.. Or noone wants to try em.. Top pvp teams dont want to push the meta to its limits.. And there are not enough competition for this to happen.. We have great players and teams but they are not feeling threatened enough to push the meta out of the limits

I wouldn’t mind reading a representative’s opinion on the matter of getting back the steady weapons for pvp.

In competitive games, ignoring math is done at your own peril. In this game, it doesn’t really matter.

Mostly joking since people used to think steady weapons were removed so players couldn’t find the bugs as easy. You are right about the real issue.

No. Bugs aren’t prevalent in this game or an issue at high-level play. The real issue is there’s just not enough competition for people to take math seriously and improve themselves at the margins. The reason for that, of course, is the lack of rewards and mode variety.

This is so true that it is sad.
