The minimap sucks.
I was playing Tyranny and I’d love if the minimap worked like it does in that game. It has the standard minimap but if you press “M” it grows in size so you can see everything much more clearly while you’re still playing rather than go to a separate map screen. If it were possible in this game that would be fantastic.
If we went on about what games have better UI and minimap we could literally be here for days.
Not only that, but red profession symbols against the brown (at least I think it’s brown) backdrop makes it even more confusing if you have red/green colorblindness.
It’s very frustrating to look at the map and trying to figure out if a thief’s gunna be on you or not, and get punished because you can’t make the symbol out in the overlapping mess.
All sorts of things could be done to make the map cleaner and more visible, even just messing with the contrast or outlining the profession symbols in white or something. Settings and options for colors would be great. Options to pop up a bigger map would be great too.
Not option, it needs to be standard on death. There’s no point watching your corpse for 15 seconds over sad music, they should be staring at the mini, and team health bars to plan their respawn.
I hate how inconsistent the minimap sizes are as well. Spirit watch’s mini doesn’t seem to be able to cover the whole match, and i think on foefire you can’t zoom.
For all the praise the art team gets, when it comes to functionality Arenanet does a terrible job of their UI.
I am still waiting rounded map after 5 years.
