Lol sure…try to beat double guardian defensive specced without investing 70% of your team resources and time, while the double mesmer can defend another point…this game truly is a design wonder

Personally, I think retaliation is the main culprit behind Guardian bunkers being a little over-the-top. They spec heavily for tanking, but then reflect damage back at you. Why do your own damage when you can use THEIR damage?
That said, I don’t think penta-guardian would be effective. Condition damage and mobility tend to screw them over pretty hard. I have been wrong before, though.

Retaliation scales with power. My defensive/support guardian has 916 power, the reflect is not that huge and does not last that long. Guardians are strong, imo best node defenders in game, can troll forever, but can’t kill anything fast (with my build), but I wouldn’t call it OP.
I believe its due to nature of Conquest. You dont need to kill.. – kill is only 5 points while holding objective for 10 second will reward you for 5 points as well.
So question.. will you be focusing to get kills and on top of that control of objective, or will you be just focusing your strategy arrount point holding? If you do the second.. then.. guess what… you can easily manage to get lot of points
i just want to throw something in here, i’m not saying guardians are not OP, i’m playing one myself since 3h before official release and enjoyed it until now.
One problem i had was all those bursty builds of everyone in 8v8s as well as in 5v5 turnaments, the rogues specially but anyways, so i tryed some builds and guess what, yes retaliation is pretty crazy, dunno if its OP or not. I just think if people would stop using thosekittenbursty builds with like 10k hp 50% krit chance and + dmg and what not they wouldnt die in an instant when they atack my +pow+tou+vita GS+Hammer guardian…
to the stability, well we have lots and i dont know if its okay to leave it this way, i just use that shout with 20% reduction and get ~28sec CD for ~6 sec stability +retaliation, that is pretty nice indeed helps stomping and the endless CC chains of some classes and it helps immensly defend clocktower with the hammer against 1 single foe (thats just a laughter every time)
oh and btw i think there are problems with stacking classes (not all but most) because with 60sec CD and 20sec buff you only need 3 guys of that class to have it forever and this is without + boon duration etc, just as an example
and yes we need other modes for pvp the one we have is in pugs just a farmfest because it rewards more points to just zerg and in 5v5 its to easy to get 2 points with 5 tanky builds (like on said above) and som speed and you win if the enemy doesnt have the exact right comp and classes
just my thoughts on this (and no i never said guardian is not OP as i stated on top so dont start saying this! :P)

When we’re waiting for a tournament to start, we bet on how many Mesmers, Guardians, and Thieves we’ll be facing.
sPvP is getting so silly how many Mesmers and Guardians there are now. (Thieves and Warriors a close 2nd).
There is one profession that will pretty much shut down a Guardian to uselessness. I suggest trying to build around that if the meta has become such that you often see 2 Guardians or more.

if you 5 hooligans cant coordinate enough damage to focus someone down then i dont think its the comp thats the issue ^^
while this isn’t necessarily true, as you have a lot of noob guardians… i would say yes, good teams that stack up on Guardian power tend to dominate.
