Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Is some of you people actually think the new game modes will matter.
Anet were really excited before they released skyhammer because they were having so much fun internally and it was a huge hit they thought would grow the game. You really trust these people to come up with a fun game mode?
O and any new game mode wont have a tourny queue so they can flog their pathetic custom arenas.
And btw anet I want my money back for the custom arenas I bought and then you TOOK THEM AWAY FROM ME when time ran out. WTF is up with that. When I buy something I expect to have it forever. Sure make it unusable but taking it away from me because my payment lapsed is immoral at best.
Money grabbers.
Since they removed skyhammer farming, are there any popular custom servers? At all? When people play outside of the tournament format, does anyone actually play in the custom servers?

The dueling servers
I still have faith in them. This is the same team that is currently running gw1. After 8 years if it still even has 5% of its population, you can consider it a success. I don’t like the current Pvp, but that is purely personal. I do hope that eureka moment comes for them though. I wouldn’t like to see guild wars 2 have a early death. I really think that some foundation decisions need to be change. It was brave to try something an entirely new way. It was bold to wanna change the trinity, but in the end I don;t think anyone here could have realised where entirely this road was gonna lead in the end. Bring back Monks in the form of guardians. The biggest turn off to players about monk was that you never felt like you were part of the action. You simply played the UI and red bar game. This basicvally meant the healer role should have been radically designed, rather than removed. Remove node captures. It only splits the team up and makes people wanna go for individual results over team results. The team result is what people should be aiming for, even if they don’t stomp a single person. The hotjoin format being the most easily accessed starter Pvp only encourages people in this behaviour. Then they get to soloQ where almost nobody communcates at all, and finds it hard to communicate without taking thier hands off hotkeys and the screen. Then they get Tpvp and have to actively work out who does what, who goes where, what updated vent we’re all running, who will play this profession and what ‘must have’ weapon they have to use…It all seems like a rough road, no smooth transitions. If they work on these things, it would certainly help. Everybody understand kill count. They understand death match. They understand healer. they understand DPS..they don’t undertsand;
-you hold home. Unless nobody is there, then you shadow center, unless chieftain is up..then get that. You hold center. CC everything, you over ther, you support, unless home gets rammed..then you go back to home and other guy, you go push their home. If they double back to defend home, then you take off and either go help center, or bring orange juice to guy on home, unless svanir is up, then try to steal him. Now if i wink one eye and run my fingers on the brim of my hat, that means steal third, unless far left field has a strong arm, then try to upset pitcher. Everyone be yourself, unless you can be a pirate..then be a pirate..first to 500 wins. Understand? By trying to make it simple it just didn’t pan out ideally. That is why craft’s people always say, “Simple is the hardest to achieve. It will always show it’s flaws if you don’t get it right.”

The guys from gw1, who actually knew what to do, are not working in GW2’ team. How can ppl still believe in this guys? Their knowledge of pvp is awful – they confirmed this fact since the release of GW2. It’s really sad to know, that the dev’s destroyed the competitive and really good pvp system of GW1 completely.
If I had not played much PvE at the beginning, I would have registrered that this little PvP they published could never become popular or even a sport.
New players (and possible new viewers for events) will most likely not be able to afford a Custom Arena nor its time tokens for a longer time, I assume, if they only enjoy sPvP and want to purchase other items as well.
Here are some calculations (using only TeamQ metrics with matches won).
Custom Arena Starter Kit:
Glory: 154 matches
Gold: 427 matches
Time Tokens (5 Days):
40 matches (8 per day)
Time Tokens (20 days):
128 matches (7 per day)
I agree that a Custom Arena Starter Kit should give a permanent Custom Arena and not be monetized through the Gem Store, same for Time Tokens.
Instead: Announcers, more skins, etc..
Now they just have to make smarter balance decisions rather than hard-counters like Berserker Stance and Diamond Skin. No invulnerability, more active single-target play and less passive stuff, AIs or AoEs. They can be there but not be so strong and effective.
And we need a more open communication between players and developers since past implementations were done without common consensus between developers and players and that got us into this mess. (Especially when Alpha is not open for everyone)
