What truly makes a comp “meta”?
I have been sensing a shift in the meta recently and although some teams are reluctant to adapt and change and are stubbornly sticking to their double necro & spirit ranger comps, The meta is changing!
We are seeing a vastly unprecedented shift to more control and Direct Damage comps! It is a change in the right direction and extremely refreshing! We should all embrace the new possibilities to counter spirit rangers, from Engineers to Warriors and everything in between! The community as a whole needs to have a perspective shift and truly appreciate the utility and flexibility that Warriors now bring as well as Power Engineers and thieves!
We need to completely alter our thoughts away from the condi meta as a whole and move to something different as a community! Many teams are playing what feels comfortable to them, what they enjoy playing, and what they have fun running. They are having very good success..
It is a good time to be a competitive Tpvper in Gw2 atm! It is exciting and interesting to witness this unprecedented shift from the horrendous condi meta into a new control/Power meta! I encourage teams to try new comps and broaden their perception of what is “Viable”. They may just be surprised by how much one Hammer CC warrior counters the other teams 2 necros and spirit ranger without breaking a sweat, add a s/d thief training the spirit and bursting the necros while they are stunlocked and it is GG.. Experiment with elementalist and mesmers, Control comps allow them to have more survivability and control burst comps are much more effective than spamming conditions on everything and hoping someone dies..
Teams that learn how to effectively call targets and Spike at the right moments are the future!
Best of luck to everyone,
As always sincerely yours an excited TPvPer named Darth
We’ll see what happens, but personally I’m doubtful that balance has really been achieved yet. A lot of the top competition in NA is mostly gone from Team Arena queues, so testing things there isn’t really a rigorous test of what’s viable or not atm. If you’re testing these things in scrims against top NA teams, or against top EU TA LB and having success, lemme know.
I tend to agree, that’s why I’m adamantly opposed to any nerfs to Warriors. Because of their strength vs. condition users we’re starting to see some changes in terms of builds because they’re getting sick of being dominated. If Warrior stops being that driving force then the meta will likely slip back to where it was a few moths ago because they will not be a threat anymore.
