I´m i the only one around here who thinks the pvp is exciting, fresh, and addictive?

Of course it needs it balancing, bug fixes, etc. But that´s something normal in every game, not to mention a new game.

The pvp itself is really fun, and as a hardcore pvp gamer like me, i haven´t been truly amazed with a game pvp like this since DAoC, and i have played every mmo pvp game out there.

My team is playing everyday tPvP with the hope to see gw2 as an e-sport someday.

Just wanted to say this, as i logged in the forums and saw like 20 cry, post. 10x, the game is boring, and etc. Some positive feedback doesn´t hurt guys

The game IS fresh, fun, addictive, fast-paced … and the things that annoy me are really minimal compared to the fun stuff.

Still not been able to find the right guild though, which is my only major turndown in the game so far, but I can’t really blame ANet for that one

Im not playing almost every evening just in order to cry here. Im actually playing because the game is great. It has still lot of work in progress which i dont like but things are going fowarad.. so lets hope.. we see e-sport soon.

shrug I disagree, I’m still haunting the forums because I want to push the development team towards some really significant changes. But I don’t find the pvp fun at all and it’s not for lack of success. I’m playing DotA2 and Tribes Ascend for a while. I’ll come back with fresh eyes eventually, either when they’ve made some significant changes or when I’ve decided to give it a second try.

I tried my hardest to make positive comments..but now I find myself logging in for like 30 min before getting bored to death.
You go tPvP and you get paired with rank 2 players against guilds which use 2 guardians bunker+engy bunker+ele bunker+mes/warrior/thief roamer , so one match you lose and leave….you go sPvP and it’s a zerg fest, you get tired fast of killing the same nab over and over again when joined by 6-7 more people, of PvE I couldn’t care less..so what PvP average players should do?
Without the “middle class” any game is bound to fail soon or later

Pvp is going to get old really fast compared to gw1 because the lack of possible combinations… In gw1 there would be thousands of builds per profession.. in this game, theres like 2, maybe 3. And once you get tired of them all… then what?

Actually,no it isn’t.Major issues aside,about half of the sPvP games i join at the moment i see someone typing “get out of here,we are testing”.It gets worse daily.The game doesn’t let you enjoy itself to begin with,i just wish that was the biggest paradox about it.

Yes I enjoy the PVP in this game more than any other game,, that is saying a lot,, better than WoW certainly and i was a hardcore BG hero and arena player

the core IS sound in this game,,,the devs keep pushing it with balances and features and it will be better and better

the whining on forums also shows players care about this game,,, imagine if there was nobody saying anything at all that means ppl have abandoned ship

That’s part of domination mode, cap point mode, conquest, whatever you call it. Part of it is defending a point. So far from what I’ve been seeing most of the points get a good chunk of action, with maybe the exception of ruins, which is harder to take once your opponent owns it.

I’m sure Arenanet will add more game modes eventually. I mean capture the flag is a mode a lot of people seem to ask for, but it probably isn’t easy to balance.

Thieves alone for an example of potential trouble. Make them drop the flag on stealth like most games? Well that removes a big chunk of their utility. Also, if rangers have an automatic stealth trait, I’ll bet thieves do. That would make that trait actively detrimental if it makes them drop the flag whenever it triggers. But you can’t exactly let them stay stealthed with the flag either. All kinds of issues come up, which take time to work out.

I have fun although I feel trapped in my current ranger trap spec just to deal with infinite invis Thieves,High crit Mesmers and warriors spamming Hundred Blades. Its not a l2p issue I WIN most of the time in those match ups, however I feel like I am playing with an imposed handicap.

The bottom line is this in any game you have active and reactive elements, now if half the classes in the game are forced to be reactive players because 3 classes are allowed to spam the kitchen sink at them with no fear of repercussions then it has gone Far Beyond a simple patching problem, its means that class design in lop sided.

That being said I just want my pet to be as smart as any Mesmer illusion. Would it be ok if it had the intelligence to run down the steps and fight the guy I am shooting at. Or use its highly situation F2 abilities on intended targets. I dont think you should have the same AI reaction to protecting screech that you have for rending talons.

GW1-PvP was great imho…… well, it was the best pvp i’ve ever seen tbh.
GW2-PvP becomes boring after a few days. It’s allways the same thing and conquest gets old quickly. On the other hand, i can understand, why there is no DM like in GW1.
The combat system is just to chaotic. 5on5-encounters are just terrible…..

Fun fact:
The lack of holy trinity is awesome in Pve…. but not having front-/mid/-backline in Pvp doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Regarding PvP balance meetings:

Please don’t forget to also look at how maps influence PvP balance. The current map pool is full of very narrow spaces and the maps themselves are mostly small, which kills movement/distance-centric playstyles and emphasizes melee combat.

I love the pvp in this game and totally agree with the OP.

However, Rhydian.5412 your post is so spot on, wow-its exactly what I think every time I play ranger in spvp. When I play thief and mesmer I don’t seem to notice the imbalance so much though, haha.

For me the issue is not wheter or not conquest is fun.

It’s not even about liking the fights or not.

For me it’s mostly about variety.
Think that is what I miss the most.

That and the fact that spvp is 8v8 and is designed to be a mess, while tpvp puts premades against pugs (and paid tournies aren’t changing that so far).

But the main problem: lack of variety.

Wiggely, wobbely and other wombaty wabbity creatures…

WvW: Elementalist/Engineer AoE wins wall battles; all other classes are terrible in comparison during siege battles

Ergo, nerf Elementalist and Engineer across the entire game because they are strong in WvW. Right?
