The way winning streaks always end
I suspect higher MMR players tend to queue with other high MMR players they have met and formed friendships with. Higher MMR solo may, sadly, become “carriers” for lower MMR players.

that is not new really… once you reach something like 50+% win rate games stacks all odds against you to bring you back to 50%

That’s what happens to me. I make it up to about 55% win rate them get teamed up with people that don’t know what’s going on and lose 20 out of 25.
Make a power ranger and wear absurd looking armor; play it when you feel a losing streak coming on, and then wait til you win one to hop on your main.
You know you’re screwed early on when either no one takes home or it’s being double/triple capped with no opponents around.

I really wanna say take a bear then equip lb.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

climbing the ranks and going against higher and higher MMR opponents
That can only happen if there is enough players of similar MMR in the matchmaking pool.
That’s one of the few reasons why I don’t like ranked pvp. It’s also flawed in some ways to how a player gets points to climb the ladder.
Player A is on 10W/15L and 10pts
Player B is on 15W/10L and 10pts
If player A wins the next 5 matches since they’re on 5 lose streak, then he gains +5points. Totaling to 15/15 and 15pts.
If player B loses the next 5 matches since they’re on 5 win streak, then he loses -5points. Totaling to 15/15 and 5pts.
Player A gained more as the system priorities stabilizing your win rate to 50%, as opposed to the player B on a previous winning streak.
Edit: And that cycle continues until one player has played more games, thus a potential to gaining more points. Therefore ranked is simply a farm game.
