The worst PvP player NA, Thank You Anet

Weird. I only play unranked and almost always que solo, but I’ve pretty much steadily won 15% more than I’ve lost for the last two months… which seems surprising since I’m presumably being grouped with and against better and better players. I favor bunker and support builds so I’m probably a worse duelist than anybody commenting here (I’m astounded when I beat someone one-on-one. Like, enough to feel kinda bad for them…) but I try to rotate sensibly and steal unguarded points relentlessly. I like to think I have my moments when I can tie up 2-3 players for a really long time without letting them decap – sometimes long enough for somebody on my team to come help me. And I run a mean trebuchet (“This is it, the moment Mr. Grabel prophesized back in grade school, when all our lives would depend on geometry…”). But I don’t feel like I’m actually “good” at sPvP yet.
I wonder why people find the ranked matchmaking experience so much less satisfying?
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Same experience here with bad matchmaking. Sure some pug games its just luck whether you win or lose but some games are just messed up lol. Its really discouraging since i started off in the 300s on the leaderboard and now im ridiculously low. I fear queueing ranked solo anymore
same happened to me. I usually have around 60% win rate, but after the changes i went like 0-56 playing twice against the same premade. Now i am at 8-7 and the last two matches were ridiculously easy. I think that the matchmaking just throws players there and that’s it.
I don’t understand why win/loose ratio is even a thing. If you PuG, win/loose depends 1/5 on you, 4/5 on the others (+ your opponents). It shouldn’t even be in personal statistics.

What is the problem with the boxes? The figures are calculated correctly. The rank is not influenced by win/loss ratio, that’s why I said you should forget about it anyways.

Hey, didn’t they patch this and make our search system better? rolls eyes Face it, they care nothing for the pvp community and only give us small tidbits unless we’re in the tourney brackets. I don’t mean to sound so neg but I’ve been reading of a real MMR system for over 2 years now. Still have yet to see one …

It shows how wrong the whole matchmaking and leaderboard thing is. Come on, you can clearly see how it promotes just win farmers. If we have leaderboards that punish good players for having high MMR, how can people even take this game seriously?
I had like a 12 games losing streak when I started (who loves getting face rolled by dragon players when your allies are all gladiator titles). It’s a huge insult not to reset everyone’s mmr. Wait, it’s not an insult but rather just incompetence by anet.
All I can say is to keep playing and try not to pick professions that cannot carry no matter how well you do. (Thief, mesmer, necro) who knows maybe you will get a +8 winning streak, it’s all rng really.
(preface: no clue where I am on any leaderboard, I’m a dolyak (r28-ish?) ele with a self-made build that works for my playstyle, have some really good pvper guildies that have been coaching me on strategy so I’m not totally clueless but never will I ever bother to look for myself on a leaderboard.)
I ended up on the other end of the OP’s seesaw all last week.
I had the best week I’ve ever had in PvP, winning 1v1s against classes that normally thrash me. In virtually every match I was solo queued, ended up with pugs against sometimes pugs and sometimes partial premades, and in every single match, we were down 50-75 up until about 300-350 points, when we suddenly pulled forward and won by anywhere from three to 75 points. It was exhilarating. My husband was going crazy because I kept logging off at bedtime all pumped up and wanting to ramble about my awesome matches.
I have no idea how I got matched up in such great games, but it was the most fun I’ve ever had in pvp.
Alas, this week, it’s back to normal. Getting thrashed by dragon rank full premades while I run around with my deer and dolyak rank pugs. sigh.
