I figure the more we talk about it, the likelihood something’ll happen. Much like the much needed soon-to-be spvp overhall we’re getting in December.

I’ve been playing much 1v1 king of the hill and 2v2 koth custom matches lately and it’s a lot of fun, no doubt. As for balancing (will probably get flamed for this) the game’s overall PvP is one of the most balanced PvP I’ve played in a long while. Taking into account the number of countless builds you can have per character, it’s quite impressive really.

I think it’s the diversity of builds, and roles most people could have, or should have, is what makes small arena gametypes challenging in the balance department. As for fixing long drawn out matches, other MMO’s have a timer and health threshold system where the team who caused the lowest health possible, won. A similar system could be applied to Downed states.

Strategy/Focus Target
Player traits/build greatly effects a team’s strategy. Not all guardians with a GS are all meditation dps builds… to determine a focused target both teams would have to see each player’s stats but (maybe?) not necessarily their skills, elite or utilities. Since a player may have 10k health but 2k toughness, conditions are probably best. While your partner’s normal 6k Heartseeker crit is probably better against a 20k vita, 900 toughness player instead. I think not being able to look at a person’s skills and utilities brings that extra ‘caution’ to the game.

So I don’t make this a longer post than it has to at the moment, last i’ll talk about are the long CD elites that are meant mainly for larger team groups (or sensitive node support) but could be OP in 1v1/2v2 matchmaking. Such as the warriors 240cd Battle Standard. It’s a no brainer in 2v2 situations, but can be more difficult to use in a 3v3+ scenarios. Making 3v3 a more realistic and interesting matchmaking alternative than 1v1 or 2v2 gamemodes. That said I’m not entirely sure if these heavy elites should be used at all.
