I’m guessing this isn’t actually a LAN, ‘cause GW2 isn’t Local Area Network supported for direct connections. 0-ping tourneys would be cool though

Whether or not it does something, how does that affect you in any reasonable way? Does it take away something from you? Are you negatively impacted by it?

If it does nothing that is fine, live goes on. Gw2 pvping not working out, is not the end of the world, afterall it is just a game.

They could use the resources and money to actually fix the game and hire someone, everyone knows really few devs work on pvp if any

A more likely scenario is they that they money they are supposedly saving doesn’t get used for anything else, since the money it cost to run the event will still be insignificant compared to hiring, training and keeping someone for more than a few months yet a lone a year.

I know right, you are probably used to a world where you don’t need to think about those stuff. Typing stuff without thinking of the consequence is the easiest way to seem clever without being clever.

Don’t expect the China allstar team, we probably are the best team of china region, but my team has been disqualified from every official tournament for no reason, I even don’t know who will become the china allstar team members.

Well they better make sure they either:
1, Give away some legendaries to viewers.
2, Include some PvE news/panel in the show with the PvP tournament.

Because that is the ONLY way people will watch this game for its PvP. This game has a PvP viewership base of about 200-300 people. So unless they bribe people to watch then nobody will care whatsoever.

The game has a competitive pvp community of about 30 people. Even when the game was popular the competitive pvp community (actual regular teams) was still tiny to say the least.

Winning at Gw2 is like being the best in your family. It is child’s play.

Though I thought they somehow implemented LAN support and this was an announcement for it, that would have been amazing! Still, super excited to see GW2 played at the highest tier.

I don’t really understand the purpose of this tourney, it won’t bring players back, and it isn’t going to keep players interested in playing. The only thing you are doing is giving a few lucky players a free vacation to germany while the game remains to be boring to watch, and just frustrating to play for many. No new game modes, terrible balance, various issues with soloq and leaderboards…the list is so long, but you are giving us something very little of us care about. Stop it with the esports attempts Anet you don’t deserve it, and frankly I find it insulting when you can’t even communicate with us on the forums. Show the pvp community you actually care about us and start implementing the endless feedback and suggestions you’ve been given to improve GW2 PvP.

Fix leaderboards
Give us new game modes
Balance updates more than 1-2 a year? (such a joke really)
New features, weapons, maps (not skyhammer)

I can’t wait to see how the players are going to be chosen for this as well. How are “all stars” going to be chosen when the competitive community is so ridiculously small…

Ok. I understand people being frustrated with issues they find with the balance, but there really isn’t a need to complain about everything and take issue with the devs clearly showing an active interest in spvp. Just because there is a tourney you think all balance work totally stops?

Listen we get it, you are the saviors of GW2 spvp and if only the devs had listened to you we’d be esports.

It does, in fact, keep players interested in playing. Tournaments are why I still play..as well at 90% of the other teams.

I’ve seen some concerns in this thread regarding allocating developer resources for tournaments and events, and I just wanted to let you know there’s no reason to be alarmed! While I’m sure our programmers and designers would make for awesome Event Managers, they’ve got a game to work on! Projects like Tournament of Legends, our tournament at gamescom, and anything similar that we do in the future is largely owned by myself and our community/marketing teams.

I had a lot of fun working on the community team earlier this year as the PvP Community Coordinator, and I’m really excited to be back on the team in this new role (Events Manager). For anyone who has been around since the start, you know I’m very passionate about the competitive side of Guild Wars 2. I didn’t want to jump in and ring a bunch of bells announcing my new role when I moved into the position – I’d rather just make things happen.

- We need better representation on twitch. The mobile version is especially bad right now; I’ve taken to playing a game called ‘guess the 90s console game above guild war 2’.

- Players who host community events in their custom arenas could be awarded time tokens. This could be an alternative way to fund them.

- s/d thieves need a look at before these tourneys. They need to be more manageable by zerker builds. It reminds me of a devs comment on warriors last year “we like that warriors can have damage, survivability, and CC. But not all of these things at once”. At the moment the meta is ‘stuff that won’t get insta-gibbed by an s/d thief.’

Hmm, is this China?

At least this time we won’t see a feature match between aion players at gamescom.

Still, I would have appreciated a qualifier instead of emailing the top end of the leaderboard if they like to participate or not.

I hope the ready up today evening doesn’t only cover how people will be elected, but also how they solve matchmaking and how they gonna implement important features
like a report afk or a simple resign function two years after the gw2 release.

Really puzzled that the mods aren’t deleting messages of the “why do an invitational? this game sucks!” type. Do you people go and post on the forums of other games you don’t like too?
