Structured Player vs. Player

• The Practice button has been removed from the PvP panel. Custom arenas can still be accessed using the Game Browser tab on the left-hand side of the PvP panel.
• Ranked Arena is now restricted to players rank 20 and above.
• New players will no longer be required to complete the PvP tutorial before gaining access to the Heart of the Mists.

Or however you would call it, I’d just say “fixed!”.

it took like 3 minutes
and knowing how finishing works and what capping points and rezzing downed players is in this game would be useful for people who really enter PvP the first time

I’m so sad that I can no longer play on my level 1 toons in ranked, people are so much nicer when you’re level 1 since they think you’re just a nub cake xD.

you can still join on a LVL 1 character or not ??

I don’t think it’ll have the same effect since people can now identify that you have to be rank 20 and higher to queue rank and therefore not a complete noob.

Yea you can. Sorry if I didn’t word it properly but now they know you’re not a noob since you must have played a lot of games to get rank 20 .

Yea you can. Sorry if I didn’t word it properly but now they know you’re not a noob since you must have played a lot of games to get rank 20 .

yes but i have seen r50+ people who just skyhammer farmed it and are worse than r10 players

Yeah, I agree. We already have problems with people not understanding the win condition of Conquest, removing the tutorial will just exacerbate the situation.

Pressing F should be obvious and at the beginning of every match the announcer flat out says, “capture points”

The tutorial was completely worthless. Not to mention with Stronghold coming capturing points will be irrelevant for that (and courtyard).

I was hoping for ArenaNet to introduce a REAL practice mode in replacement instead of just getting rid of the randomized hotjoin button altogether.

I hope they redesign HotM all together

Not bad. There were complete noobs to pvp starting out game 1 of there pvp lives in ranked arena. Also, gives time to build up a more reliable rating for matching purposes in ranked.

one could reach rank 20 in a few hours not sure if that’s enough to justify ranked qualification but it’s better than nothing I guess. I’ve seen rank 80s that are unqualified for ranked

If you were facing complete noobs in ranked then one of two things is happening:

1. Broken matchmaking. It just indicates that there is a larger issue that needs to be fixed.
2. You have a really low MMR.

It’s a step in the right direction;however, I feel the level should have been 40… It is a bit too easy to get to level 20… At least with level 40, you are 50% of the way to level 80 and have some generic understanding of the way matches are suppose to work. You would have taken your fair share of lumps and victory swigs. You would have essentially played in every situation a few times and be comfortable with your class or classes to be competent in a ranked scenario.

I understand, that ranks don’t mean anything; however, if we are going down the road of Ranks being a benchmark to play ranked, the entrance level should be a little higher.

So wait, lemme think about this??

Ok, I get it, whatever, its a change to not allow everyone to queue. Ok
If I am a new PvP player (read: below rank 20), and I intend to queue ranked against all comments in HoTM, against all rage that is thrown at me, against all common sense and nice advice from nice people. Ok. How do i do it?
Its not like there are servers for farming rank, are they, I actually have to play right Wait, wat?

So design team makes already pretty useless rank stat completely obsolete with the patch that changed the requirements for rank 80.
The acknowledge that rank farming is OK, player can do whatever they want (which btw, they are farming for finishers, not rank).
And now you design a feature/change/whatever that is based on obsolete thing???
Really Really???? How can something like that get approved by top level design uber lead is kittening beyond me. Congrats, you have more farm servers now, you didn’t fix the actual problem.
You cannot balance PvP teams if the requirement for PvP is farmable??!? WTF

so my guild want to make a team we are 4 people rank 80 and 1 rank 10 so we can not play all together at ranked arena even if we take the risk of lose.

This is a good change, at least in theory. The existence of rank farm servers makes it a bit less effective.
