Can we please get this thing nerf’d, spamming auto attack and pushing 3 whenever you see an animation means you are unkillable by mesmer and can wipe them out through 1 and flame proc in moments. This weapon gives poison, down’d target cleave, mobility, and complete invulnerability to mesmers. Every single thief in the game uses it – this means its better than all the other choices.

The Shortbow needs breaking, I don’t think any other single weapon can wipe out an entire class in the ruthlessly efficient way SBow defeats Mesmer. Thieves will complain they need it for mobility and down’d state cleave – fine let them have that but they shouldnt also get an auto attack that is more threatening than anything else they use and a energy free dodge button that can be used 3-4 times in a row without worry.

You can play your best dodge all their pistol whips, teleport larcenouses, steals and backstabs but they just need to switch to sbow and push 1 and 3 and there is nothing you can do to stop them killling you.

Reduce the number of targets 1 hits to 2, turn 3 into 2 skills first arrow cripples 2nd arrow dodges.

These changes will keep the weapon reasonably good at all the same things BUT will stop the double tapping of the targetted Mesmer and prevent the 3 button being used back to back as you will be required to fire an arrow in between each dodge.

Sensible changes for a happier Britain.

I think it works good as intended. Every class has an arch enemy in this game, and even tho the thief is that foe for many classes. Thiefs are easy to counter if you know what your doing. This game is designed to dodge and roll from your enemy and slot those skills you need to defend. That being said I know what your speaking of and I think the new traits coming especially for some of the classes like Mesmer are going to help with some classes being able to cause such issues. Guess we will see.

They buffed initiative across the board and didn’t increase the costs of all the skills. SO now all their skills are even more spammable. They should double EVERY thieves skills initiative cost. Trust me, they would still be viable.

Really dont know what your problem as a mesmer is, your can set up your burst just fine.
Go invis => position => burst.

If the thief spams Sb#3 while you are not visible GG then, he wasted all of his initiative.

It’s quite hard in the beginning to understand when you can hit a thief and when it looks like he can dodge everything, i would advise you play a little bit on a thief yourself, then you will get a much better feeling for when you have the chance to get him.

this is not a matter of l2p WvW for coulter, he’s talking about structured pvp where thieves do in fact hard-counter mesmers

this is not a matter of l2p WvW for coulter, he’s talking about structured pvp where thieves do in fact hard-counter everything

Fixed it for you. It is boring listening to mesmers QQing about thieves. Necros have the same issue. On 8k health = might as well be dead. And you are always on 8k health in a team fight. Wurm doesn’t even work because they port right after you.

Mesmers are just a bad class with the same role as Thieves and only useful for Portal play that I never even see on them anymore. I’ve won 2 on 1 against shatter Mesmers before on my bunker Thief since they cannot do anything against people with weapon evades and I could do the same thing on my sword/dagger Ranger.

Yeah, maybe PU mesmer, which is pointless to run in pvp due to:

1. Low mobility
2. Selfish traits
3. Bad team fight capabilities
4. No burst
5. Terrible both on home point and mid. Much worse than having a decap engi go far.

Shatter is pretty balanced against a thief except maybe pistol whip which is like shatter, but easier since the burst isn’t based around 3 easy to doge exploding zombies.

But here is my problem with thieves and rangers. esp when mesmers and guardians are getting nerfed.

Doge spam shouldn’t really exist imo.

Also “Mesmer is the best 1v1 class” is not even remotely true anymore, Back when people didn’t know how to out play a mesmer yeah sure. Engie is probably tied with Ranger for the best 1v1 class, and are both easier to play than most mesmer builds except maybe phantasm.
