Thief is great
ok now do it in pro leagues

I play thief S/D , so i have a very high mobility, but what i see is that teammates does things like you are not in the game, maybe because they don’t know how to play whit a high mobility class in their team.
example: we have mid and close, enemy is respawing, i go fast to engage 1 enemy at far, too keep him busy and maybe waste time in a 2v1, but waht my team do is to come to me (they don’t understand what i’m doing and that i can disengage fight very fast).
Or more often i see a confusing defensing rotation, not caring about what other are doing ore who is respawning, moving and roaming all around not caring about thief in their team.
I agree with you, thief is still a playable class in ranked, but sadly, not for soloranked.

Why do I get the feeling that this is a “Shut up and like your decap/pet corner.” thread?

So after testing both the meta build for engi and ele I can without a doubt confirm that Thief is a great class to have. playing with these builds I often found our team up by 100 points only to lose. Reason why we lost was because they would decap our home causing my team to overcommit to home. Ok now when my team and I have secured mid and home it would usually be 250-150. Then after they decap our home I’m left to defend mid. I end up losing mid to a 3v1 while my team takes back home. However we never are able to take back mid and we end up losing 500-350ish. This a full 200ish point swing. And I kitten you not this has happened multiple times not just once. Like I would not feel comfortable even with a 200 point lead while playing engi or ele. And now I’m sitting there asking myself wtf just happened, why did we lose when we had both home and mid?
This is where if I was playing thief I could have took back home by myself, allowing my team to defend mid or I could have decaped far forcing a player to come to me. This would have definitely prevented the numerous embarrassing 200 point swings. On top of that I feel extremely comfortable with even a 50 point lead while playing thief.
So yeah thief ain’t bad, l2p
How are you left on mid alone? It doesn’t take 4 ppl to kill 1 thief
What is happening is you are going for the 3 cap and they are killing the people at far then sending 3 mid 2 far. It’s not a thief beating you but more you beating yourselves
Thief is a very powerful class vs very stupid teams.
What excuse is that “try in pro leauge” not many are in that to begin with, and people that they are in pro league play the most bunkersh and the most effective build to stand afk on a node.

I don’t think that thief is in a great place right now, but I think it’s better than people give it credit for. It should be painfully obvious that the largest problem that thieves have is that they’re not in the meta. What kind of idiot takes a thief to a bunker meta?
I que sometimes with a friend whos playing thief. Hes dangerous 1v1 and can eat revs and necros for breakfast. Also good at +1 to jump in, burst someone in 2sec and go somewhere else. Ppl have no idea how strong DD is. Underrated class atm and thats olny bc majority of thief community sux.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.

Almost no thieves play like this. Let me give you a rough outline how the average thief in spvp plays. Start the match by going to far to engage in pointless 1v1 and lose horribly to start match. Engage in as many meangingless 1v1s as possible during the match often on points the other team color that are guarded by people they can’t kill. Get involved in meaningless fights in the middle of the map off point. Get involved in big team fights and get zapped by random aoe. Cause everyone to rage with there incompetance. +1 one on side points and intelligent reading of the map to cap side points left open almost NEVER happens.
I can confirmed, thief is amazing versus bad players. I stormed through saphire losing only 2-3 pips playing thief solo, just because at this level, you can have a decap on far pretty much whenever you feel like it. That or one tempest decides to stay close all game to prevent you from decapping, turning the rest of the map into a 4v5.
The only times you lose is when a stupid necro or guardian decides to push far all game and die, forcing you to teamfight on the other points in equal numbers, which is never a good idea.

Thief community is to blame here tho. I know how average Joe plays. Most people that picked up thieves want to play it like rambo, they fail at it and screams thief sux. Good thief can be a gamechanger, i lost games and won just bc either me or my enemy had good thief that was keep decapping close/far. You basically have to let someone camp close in this situation forcing to 4v5.

Can you tell that to some of the team mates I get please? Thanks in advance.
This guy clearly hasn’t played in the ruby division yet, what do you do when you go against teams that has tempest bunker watching 1 point and the other 4 which would be dh/tempest/necro/mesmer at mid rotating properly. You will be a useless teammate throughout the whole game. I know at that division before the match starts you are the first to be targeted… actually no, you are the first to be ignored because in any situation if you engage in the big fights you will instantly die to aoe damage. Everytime my team goes against a team that has 1 thief no matter how good the thief is we know its going to be a blowout game by just holding 2 points.

I think it’s more like the majority of players suck and don’t know how to play a strat that includes thief doing thief things.

What if there’s a Glint/Mallyx herald? If the reveal doesn’t get you the boon strip and strong burning and torment application will.

Works great, give it a try. If a thief running this trait i literally have to stop attacking him after i apply some heavy condition.. pair that with over the top mobility and youre golden. DD is a counter to rev

That too tbh.

if i see the enemy team got a thief we just split 2-3-0
the 1 on close watching for mid also so if 4 on mid he goes to help and if thief come to close he come for 2v1 so the thief is running back again to mid so he just watching him
if 5 on mid so 1 mid push far to hold 2 points close and far so the enemy split again and we back to mid
so thief cannot decap. and if he manage to do so it means his team got wiped probably as he hardly manage to help them
Sounds like the opposite between reveal and condition damage AoE’s and cleaves though. It removes one condition, and whenever there’s a single condition cleanse it’s usually a lesser condition that gets washed. I’d also need to burn a dodge to get the cleanse.
Daredevil does sound like a dragon hunter counter with its interrupts, quick and many dodges (dash is instant with no animation uptime allowing for more evade allowance) escaping traps, and dodging out of CC. Dragon hunter for the most part wasn’t a problem against my druid and ele (overload earth to tank traps is good), less so the ele since it doesn’t have access to that nice celestial druid longbow damage or CA interrupts and cleanses, but it still has nice cleanses and heals but ele feels less suited for 1v1’s than druid. Dragon hunter seems better with teamwork (e.g., another class uses an AoE pull triggering the traps) but if well played can be a tough duel.
Not sure about that but I think a lot of teams will swap condi rev to power rev, swap bunker mes to druid and some teams will also use reaper. And if this happens thief could shine again because it’s an awesome class to +1 druids and is also strong against reapers.

LOL you really don’t know what you are talking about.
Until you walk into a DH’s traps and get instant gibbed because you didn’t see him place it there cuz he left traps at home and ran off to mid. Or you know a single destealths you and their team blows you up. Or you get condi bombed because almost everyclass spams aoes. Or you try to 2v1 a bunker ele and get eated alive because your teammate can’t handle it.
Seriously it really depends on who you play with, if you play with a competant team the thief isn’t needed in the first place as a rev can +1 most fights spamming shiro shadowstep and do just as much damage if not more.
