Thieves don’t bother me. If people want to spam the same couple of moves over and over again and think thats skill more power to them I guess. Its not really op and far from unbeatable. Skill has very little do with it though because if your skill less you will be playing other bads. If you are more skill full you will be facing good players. Its already baked into the equation. The current thief meta build works at all skill levels is the point Im making don’t be absurd and try to claim its a high skill build and your doing well with it because you so awesome.

Seems the same level of brain dead to me. Just DH has more success with its brain deadness. Doesn’t mean thief is necessarily more skilled.

Whilst i agree that Thief is/was brokenly (as i main Thief) overpowered; i see no reason why they cannot change or normalize some of the variables needed despite being a business model, heck on its current state you can equip daredevil w/o the two traitline and still become viable (and vice versa) which makes Elite a class itself and fun to play with.

Venomous Aura as a base, venom cooldown reduction because we all know Thief lack team fighting capabilities; forcing us to do so (speaking of infights) is much feasible both solo and team oriented perspective which lead to becoming fodder or a bait if you play badly/nicely. changes make sense to me to tell you the truth.

Why don’t you defend your own line of reasoning (of which none was shown mind you) before telling others to do so.
Thief has been getting nerfed almost every patch for 4 years now. We are kind of used to it heh. I honestly don’t remember when there was a patch that had any thief changes that made any sense (they butchered backstab so badly, it is useless in 90% of the time). Only thing they ever do is buffing condi or builds that from design perspective are just bad and need rework, not some % changes.
Thief and warrior are the most buffed/least nerfed classes since hot release by far. It has been quite a long time since thief has received a substantial nerf other than the whole second cd on stealth attacks. All the other classes have been getting hefty nerfs.

CD on all stealth attacks thus nerfing every single weapon set for no good reason at all was a huge nerf. They removed double stack from basi venom as well. Thief has been absolute garbage since june patch last year, if Anet did any more massive nerfs they might have just delete the class all honestly. I have been getting reported consistently for simply playing thief class in season 1 – this is how bad it was.
As far as buffs go, most of them for conid builds and things, as i said, that need complete redesign and not some crappy % change that will have 0 impact.

Cynz, the removal of the extra stack was during the same patch that buffed it twice by making it AoE application by default and increasing stun duration to 1.5s. if you honestly think sharing 2 stacks of basi venom to a whole team on match start would be balanced then you clearly only want thief to be the kill all no counter except another thief it’s been in the past.
His point still stands, since HoT nearly every single other elite spec and base class have seen massive nerfs except warrior and thief who have received almost nothing but buffs.
Areanet likes to destroy classes and make them absolute trash once people start QQing. Unless its something faceroll like Dh then they wont nerf it much cuz then their PvE fanbase will stop spending money on the game if they can no longer spam random buttons and be succeful.
But the classes that actually require skill, like rev, mes and thief will get nerfed even harder in the future.

Anet wants you spam your stuff and get carried by passives , so that way there will be less disparity between noobs and good players therefore less QQ on the forums about matchmaking.

The number of buffs or nerfs received over a given period does not demonstrate how balanced a class currently is. It is measured by in game perfromance relative to others. If specific classes received more buffs than others it only means they were underperforming.
Is the thief dominating at all levels of gameplay , yes or no? That is the only real way to measure balance.
Teef spams 5 on staff. Teef claims he has skill. Teef dies because spamming 5 isn’t a good strategy. Teef blames DH on being op.
Let’s be honest here. For a casual player, DH is a solid pick because of their survivability and decent burst damage. The issue is people rush a DH that’s sitting on a base and die to traps. Then complain. You can’t fight someone in their “environment” and expect to win. Plus, 95% of DH’s I see get countered by Ele and Engi. You want to talk about burst, sustain and survivability, look there. Or what about Necromacer? They can be tanky as heck and deal an insane amount of damage with reaper and boon corruption.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m a kitten player. I placed Plat, but if there was a rank below bronze I would probably be there. Half the time I close my eyes and pray I hit the right buttoms, the other half I die before I can close my eyes.
A skilled player will excel on whatever class they are on. Sure, there are some classes that are more suited for less skillful players, but a skilled player will always defeat them. People complain Revs are garbage but I’ve seen one defeat three people and cap the point.
All I am saying is there are easier to plays classes then there are high-risk high-reward classes. If you are a subpar player and you don’t meet that specific class’s skill requirements, you will lose. Find one that suits you better.

I know, I was only addressing one thiefs issues with the number of nerfs the class has received over a given time. I personally wouldn’t say something has to dominate all levels to be imbalanced though, for me if something in a distinct game mode has no equal for its role and it’s only counter within said role is another of its class then it’s imbalanced.
For example I would say ele is imbalanced within a support role to some extent (though druid is a viable option for most non ESL level matches) as most other classes cannot come close to the amount of healing and cleansing it pumps out. As a whole though I wouldn’t say it’s imbalanced as ele has no roaming build, bruiser build or burst build that matches up to others in PvP.
