well the question is given. i mostly play phantasm or shatter build with runes of ogre(for phantasm) and runes of mesmer (for shatter) with zerker amulet. my problem is with thieves. not all thieves but there are THOSE thieves who won’t really let you peel yourself even for a moment and keep dodging all your attacks no matter what you do. sometimes i manage to get them with a diversion clone so i have a second or two to set up some damage but mostly they just spam me into the ground.

You should have no problem with phantasm mesmer. Use decoy and blink for your advantage and just kill them with phantasms. You should use s/p + gs!!

What to do against a good thief?

Curl up and die as they evade everything you do, meanwhile hitting 3k autoattacks.

Then, make a post on the forums about how thieves slaughter mesmers.

Phantasm Mesmer you should never really lose to a thief. Shatter Mesmer it is a whole other story where you need to outplay them, look at one of the other qq mesmer thief threads for ideas there.

i could never imagine to get these answers -,-’ yea yea use blink and decoy kay. so get it on a whole new ground. against a player. not an npc who takes the bait each time over and over but a player who won’t let you spam your phantasms on him. so let’s reload the topic. what to do? just get serious ppl talking about stealth and countering knockbacks and launch there is no such a class as thief. there must be a way to get them on the edge but that’s not like “push him away and BOOM BOOM” that might work against someone who is a beginner with the class but against an at least average exp-ed player they are wasted efforts. and i’m not even saying a word about gapclosers.

Phantasm mesmer losing 1v1 to anything is laughable :/

You’re probably so over confident that you don’t pay attention to your positioning, fighting a thief on even ground is a bad idea :/ LoS while your phantasms murder the ever living kitten out of him. ggwp.

ppl you sound like if you never fought a thief. my problem: i catch him beaat him to low hp he stealths hits me once or twice i’m on low hp and just by going to stealth he regenerated 3/4 or a full bar of health i can’t los that i can’t see and i can’T spawn phantasm on what i can’t see i will only hit him once in a time and he gets me into downed after 2 approach so i won’t even have the chance to spawn 2 phantasm.

when he go to invis on low hp you must have 3 phantasms. He pop out and die from them
