Thiefs and Mesmers... and 15k hit
I can’t talk much to the comment about the thief damage, but as for the 2 mesmers, in a typical 8 v 8 battle, I would think it would be pretty common to have 2 people from the same profession.
Otherwise with only 8 professions, you would only have 1 of each? Seems like that would be very rare to see.
I usaly dont post on the forums, but after like an hour of pug pvp against mostly 2 classes i had to go here and post this screenshot, its average game where on enemy team is 4 thiefs and 2 mesmers and some thief hits me for 14,5 k backstab( iam not a warrior on frienzy), i have 24 000 hp and thief 2 hit me to death

And how many stacks of vulnerability you had, and how many stacks of might the thief had.

base toughness .. like 950 , no stacks of anything.. i stand on the point and see the thief is comming, than he goes stealth and i die in 2 .. i REPEAT <<TWO>> hits from stealth. I am engineer with 24 000 hp. As for the mesmers in previous game it was 4 mesmers and 3 thiefs and in any game i played today it was 70% of these 2 classes
With 950 toughness you’re going to take pretty much full damage from whatever goes at you.
I suggest picking up some more. You’ll notice it very quickly.
I bought a knights set of gear and I noticed toughness really does help a ton like the above poster is talking about (and knight’s isn’t even the tankiest gear it’s kind of a mixed between toughness/power).
However in spvp you cannot really spec your armors like wvw and pve I forget what the original armor you get has on it.
Even versus a full-glass cannon no skill should be able to deal 14k dmg.

Its not WvWvW, its Battle of Kyhlo.. so no knight’s sets and i must say 80% of ppl have base toughness in spvp.

what does the mesmer have to do with that thief instagibbing you?
He was yust saying he sees alot of mesmers and thieves and he doesnt like how they all kill him.

Yeah 15k seems a bit much, insane burst doesnt promote skillfull gameplay and neither does insane tank.
IMO Anet needs to promote the middle ground a little better but i couldnt imagine how.
I really dont get how he does this.. Even my elementalist with even less toughness then him only get like an 11k crit… Its as if his character is made to die

3/4 of the post completely ignore the ss that showns something is seriously broken becasuse they still believe the game is “balanced”. The current thief class got adjusted significantly AFTER the the last bwe. Now it needs adjusted again, and again, and again, until its not broken.
Hint: L2P is fail defense of a broken class and 2-shot kills isn’t “balanced” by any measure.
dont thief have that signet that lets them deal 150% damage – have you thought maybe they used that and it crit?

that’s justkitten Nevermind the fact that there wasn’t a mesmer but the op has a good reason for complaining. In order to do that same 15k damage on my eles, it would take at least three or four skills which require you to take much more coordination and time to land. Dragon tooth -> ring of fire -> fire grab → phoenix -> lightinig strike -> arc lightinng -> churning earth. All of these skills if all hit can possible do 15k damage in total where the thief just do it in one skill lol. Not to mention all of these skills from my eles can easily be dodged.

@ bestia, i’m running a glass canon ranger, and I’ve never ever took a single hit above 9k from a player, (medium armor, berserker’s amulet), you are hiding us something.
( iam not a warrior on frienzy)
Oh, here it is, you said you play engineer .. you had frenzy on you, from the quickness elixir … there is no other explanation.
As I said, i play ranger, same thougness as you, and i’ve never even been hit for more than 9k (100b warrior)

I’m more confused as to how Steal did 6k damage. Mug doesn’t give it very much damage, and other than that, it doesn’t do any.
Seriously though, if you’re building a glass cannon, this should be expected. I don’t see why people build like that then expect to survive. All classes can basically kill you instantly with a glass cannon build.

even a 14k backstab isn’t that much i think i went as high as 17k on a necro and 19k on a frenzy warrior
it’s rather simple really, stack as much +%damage as you can get and boom there you go getting called out for damage hacks
Cloak and Dagger damage doesn’t show but I think it adds onto the Back-stab damage on death damage. So back-stab was supposed to be 10k maybe.
Sounds like a case of squishy meets glass cannon.
It sucks but the game seems pretty rock-paper-scissors, when you meet specialists like that or people completely specializing into CC. If you’re the wrong spec. against them the odds are slightly against you.
Nah it’s pretty common nowaday to get backstab by a thief for around that much if he spec for it. Yesterday I was dueling this one thief at least 5 times on my eles in a hot join, and everytime im getting backstab for at least 12k….it’s prettykitten There was one time when i thought I had him, he was down to literally no health while I had about 10k health….he stealthed then backstabed me for 12k one shot…im dead.
Why is the score like it is? It says 495 but above it doesn’t lol.

That’s just plain imbalance. No skill should be able to do 19k damage in one shot to someone no matter what the circumstances is.
19k on a frenzied warrior is like 13k on a regular, glass cannon warrior.
completely warranted when you add in what else is required to get to the 13k point and what they have to give up to do so.
Still, 13k with one hit should never be possible to achive.
