Thieves infinite stealth is ruining PvP
I play a thief. Our ability to stealth in combat is absurdly overpowered.
Well, if they didn’t have that ability they would be such easy kills.
So you’re saying there’s a problem with thieves? That they need to be looked at in PvP? I agree.

Just bring an ele, the ele will just kill the thief while he’s in stealth
Sure why not, theifs dont bother me personally though.

I didn’t know eles got skills to see through stealth, nice to know, maybe you’re talking about the ele greatsword or maybe you’re talking about random aoe spamm which can be used by every profession…hmm great find nevertheless
The only problem I have is a choice few thieves that still seem to have figured out a way to perma-stealth, and I usually report them, so I can’t really say if it’s the stealth mechanic or not. Most thieves I fight only get to go back into stealth maybe once, and usually when they reappear, they are downed from AoE spam.
Perma stealth is completely pointless in sPvP. I think you’re looking for the WvW forums….

those thiefs are bad.
This game suffers from a number of problems but the two main problems are Theifs and Mesmers. The real issue is each class can shake targeting and maintain high dps and high burst without much chance of being hit by their opponent.
Warriors in heavy armor with max toughness and vitality have a fraction of the defense of a thief. At the same time the thief can slice through the warriors defenses with ease. Each class should have an archtype against which they are at a disadvantage agaisnt and for most classes this is true. Thieves are the dynamite in the GW2 rock-paper-sissor game. All upside and no counters.
I stopped playing the class since it was too damn easy and I’ve played thief type classes since EQ. Somehow-someway Anet has made stealth worse than any other game in history.
loltrops…stealth….pistol shots….stealth…..loltrops…stealth

Power Necro autowins against thiefs. Condition Ranger autowins against power thief. Off Guard autowins against power thief. Necro wins against condition thief. Condition engie wins against power thiefs. d/d ele wins against thief.

To be fair theif is probably a counter to all the newbies, but you know why bother learn and adapt when it’s so much easier to come to forums and complain?
First it was D/D cry (HS spamm), then S/P pistol whip too stronk, S/D nerfed and more nerfs to D/D (backstab’s fault this time). Now P/D is the new over the top weapon. D/P and P/P users should enjoy their builds while they can
D/D is still good, and S/P is realy good, too(immobilize and stuns are just so kittening good^^). The only slightly op thing thiefs have right now is shortbow(in my oppinion).
If soemone runs condi thief i’m generally happy about it because it is a mostly useless build. Yes it wins some 1 vs 1, vut the current meta focuses on teamfights and necro just deals more damage than any condition thief there, and tehrefore has to be killed.
A task burst theifs just do so much betetr than condition thiefs as tehy have a chance of winning against the necro xD

Dd eles also move around with their skills and aoes like a pin ball inside the pinball machine which is just as annoying as a thief stealthing

I’m trying to say is that if you get a thief low enough that he needs to pop his stealth heal, an ele has a pretty damn good chance to down him during the stealth.
If this game were deathmatch, I would agree, but right now the only mode is conquest. Thieves in stealth cannot capture or defend objectives, and with such a huge investment in toughness, vitality, healing power, etc. through traits, they have no chance of killing a competent bunker in enough time to make the point swing from an occasional kill worth it.
For conquest their builds are pretty much gimmicks that only exist to waste your time. While they are busy kiting, stealthing, and being annoying in hopes of eventually killing you 30 seconds later, they can watch you and your allies kill Svanir, Chieftain, Guild lords, or trebuchets.

Uhhh power necros instalose, especially if you’re well bombing and/or glass cannon. They’ll break out of your only immobilize instantly, move out of your wells, and then destroy you in two combos. Condition thiefs apply quick bursts of bleeds, not long stacks; they’ll stealth troll more than you can transfer conditions (in a 1v1) and you die.
Your statements are also vague.

wtf are you on… the thief can easily kill someone and delay points and cap them. they are also faster than all other classes meaning they can get to undefend points the fastest. Thief is also one of the classes that can solo the chieftan and also the best class to try and steal the kill from the other team. not only that but thief can also do massive conditional damage with with a steal build.

Now that’s bold. You know, sometimes you can be 99% sure of what you say and still be 100% wrong.
If there’s any class you have problems with soloing those bosses, then you’ll have to reevaluate whatever amount of time you have put into this game.

please show me how to 1v1 the boss with every class oh great one. And do it with viable PvP builds please.
You seem to be serious about this. Tell me which class can’t solo the chieftain in any “viable PvP build”?
If anything a D/D power thief would struggle more than any other class, as they are as squishy as it gets, have pretty much no CC and not enough burst to take it down without restealthing at least twice (I am saying they’d “struggle”, though it’s still quite doable, as long as they have 20+ seconds).

This is the guy you see in solo queue tourny that dies by the boss and you proceed to chuckle at.
And if you can’t solo the boss with any class / with a “pvp viable” build you are probably bad at the game.
Just to add to the fun, thieves are the only ones who can solo lord while completely ignoring all the other adds around him (y helo unicorn)

You can solo the chieftan with most classes but some are more viable than others.
For example, I can do it on both my condition mesmer and my glass cannon warrior.
My warrior gets downed towards the end of the fight, but i can finish it by throwing rocks at it (sometimes i gotta pop vengeance too, but i have sweet vengeance trait so i get a full rally from it). The good thing is, that it kills the chieftan solo pretty fast. The bad thing is I’m totally screwed if an enemy comes and interrupts me (100% i’m gonna die, no way to flee/survive since i will be treading like line just killing the chieftan)
My Mesmer can do it much, much safer. He kills clones pretty quick, but i run a condition build and can kite it around reasonably well. The plus side to this is if i get interrupted, i have a much easier time escaping and/or fighting back. The downside is, this takes at least 3x longer than my warrior to solo, maybe more, so the likelihood of getting interrupted is much, much higher.
Thief is hands down the best for stealing it though
I now play shout healing warrior as main, and actually play against thieves as practice because they have the only chance of burst killing me fast, mesmers win in due time, problem is warriors even with a defensive spec, don;t have decent defenses, they need to be upped a little in my opinion, but I generally last regardless, just takesa bit more timing and CD management.
In reply to the OP, yes main thing I find the problem with current thieves, not their ability to burst down single targets, hell, like said, any teamfight they die of most AOE"s going off in there instantly anyways, I see them more as a trolling class honestly, with their downed skills being both a tele-stealth and stealth, which gives them a lot of time to avoind being stomped, and also time to DPS throughout this state, and in a big teamfight, 90% of the time get back up due to a kill on the other team. During a 1v1 the constant into stealth bs has GOT TO STOP. Either make the CD’s a lot longer so they can do it less frequently or make it so that you can knock them out of stealth.
Stealth thieves are only seen an issue because the majority of players in spvp spec for single target and not ranged dmg. Im sure plenty of ele’s and staff necros (common nec weapon) could care less about them.
Also some people haven’t learned that you can still hit them while stealthed so when it happens they give up for a bit instead of continuing to swing or use aoe’s.
And if you shoot you’ll get no sympathy from me as I have stealthed a bunch on my mesmer and somehow continue to be tracked and hit by projectiles after the fact.
